The entire "Stella Porta" album from Philadelphia's Bardus is streaming today, unloading the avalanche of intoxicated sludge residue upon the masses as the record is prepared for proper release later this week.
Bardus comments: "We chose to work with Steve Poponi at The Gradwell House Studio in Haddon Heights, New Jersey to record this record. We had been sitting on these songs for a while and were excited to get them out. This record is an extension of who we are as people, and as a band. We use this band as an escape and outlet from real life and try to create our own world of sounds in the process. We wanted to make a heavy record without offending people's ears, but more so, inviting them in."
New album "Stella Porta" will be released on CD and digitally through Solar Flare Records this Friday, April 1st. A listing of upcoming tour dates is also avaialble after the jump. More...
Orxy Streaming Corrupted Cover
This week, the split LP between Denver-based doom/sludge duo Oryx and Tucson grindcore foursome Languish will be released via Battleground Records.
Another monolithic slab of audio has been leaked from the platter today - check out the Oryx cover of Corrupted's rupturing "Dios Injusto" belopw.
Upon the recording of "Dios Injusto," Battleground Records sent the track to Corrupted through the band's booking agency to gain the band's blessing on the cover. Initially, Corrupted thought the song was actually one of its own recordings, perhaps a live or unreleased version, before realizing that it was a cover. With that, the band immediately gave Oryx the blessing on releasing the track.
The Oryx/Languish split LP will see release through Battleground Records this Friday, April 1st in a run of 300 copies on 180-gram black wax including a digital download. More...

"We are truly sorry about this, but there is nothing we can do about it. I have offered to do a solo gig, should the organizers want that. It would be one mournful show. This is the first time ever Lord Vicar has to cancel."
The organizers of Doom Over Scania also comment: "With only three days to go we regret to inform that Lord Vicar have to cancel their show due to some kind of fever illness. However, Kimi a.k.a Peter Vicar will do an exclusive acoustic show for us and will play some of the Lord Vicar material along with other great stuff." More...

Triaxis Parts With Drummer / Guitarist
Drummer Giles and rhythm guitarist CJ from Triaxis just issued this message online about departing the band:
"Well the time has come!! Sunday saw the last Triaxis show for Giles and I, and we were given a truly wonderful send off. We've savoured every moment of the last few gigs and so we thank every single one of our fans who have supported Triaxis - those who have been there from the start and those who've only just found us. We thank you and will miss you all.
"To our amazing band mates: Krissie, Glyn and Becky. We love you all to bits, we are family, and playing those last few notes and drumhits on Sunday made it all feel real that we may never share a stage together again. However we did it with a smile on our faces and a feeling of love in our hearts. We will remember the amazing highs, the tough times that just made us stronger as a unit, and of course the very many laughs we have shared.
"Krissie you've been there almost from the very beginning, but before you joined, Triaxis didn't have it's voice and together we moulded the band we have today. Not only a unique voice, but a lifeforce that makes the band tick. More...

Lucifer's Hammer Releasing "Beyond The Omens"
After the "Night Sacrifice (Demo MMXIII)" three years ago, Shadow Kingdom Records is proud to present the debut full-length from Lucifer's Hammmer. "Beyond the Omens" is due to drop via Shadow Kingdom on June 3rd, 2016. The label also comments:
"With confidence and energy bursting from every glorious note, 'Beyond the Omens' continues the magic these Chileans created on their celebrated demo, but Lucifer's Hammer take it one step further with a more polished sound that enables these anthems to ring proud and true. Like a time-warp to 1984, on both sides of the Atlantic, this is classic heavy metal that combines crushing energy, night-time atmosphere, moody melodicism, and huge choruses that would be ruling the radio if it was indeed 1984.
"But be aware that this isn't pantomime: Lucifer's Hammer are the real deal, and they hammer home the fact with a vengeance, leaving an indelible, long-lasting impression on the listener. Before it's over, you'll be enthralled to the secret 'Beyond the Omens' and these nine songs simply won't leave your head! Bolstered by a clear yet full-blooded production and cover art that tells a thousand words of the story, 'Beyond the Omens' is guaranteed to be a classic debut, and forceful point of entry for Lucifer's Hammer to continue their dominance. Fans of Iron Maiden and Warlord will freak out when they hear this - you've been warned!" More...
Victorian Whore Dogs Streaming New Album
Sludge metal band Victorian Whore Dogs is streaming new album "Afternoonified" online in full. The album, which is due to be released this Friday, is an 11 track masterpiece of the band's signature "Sexy Hobo Trampcore."
Vocalist Danny Page said the following about the album: "'Afternoonified' is a sludge-doom cacophony of debauched madness and sexual expression. It is not so much art, but a rejection of self, a journey into the confines of our own repressive nature to come full circle and truly understand that life itself is a rose-tinted cumstain left on the sidewalk. We are exploring ourselves, within ourselves, outside ourselves, on our shelves. It's fuzzy, doomy, riffy, and angry." More...

"In 'Mirror Maze' we wanted to project the feeling of being out of place, lost in a labyrinth full of mirrors, not being able to know between fiction and reality or if you are gonna be able make your way out of it. It was important to get that same feeling in the video and we believe it ended up turning really good. We had a great one making it and feel super happy about the result, hope you like it as much as we do!!" More...

Katatonia Posts New Lyric Video
Katatonia has revealed the first full track, entitled "Old Heart Falls," from upcoming new album "The Fall of Hearts."
The album is due for release on May 2th0 through Peaceville Records and a lyric clip for "Old Heart Falls" - directed by Lasse Hoile - is available below.
On the release of the first new song, vocalist Jonas Renkse commented: "A song with lush textures, distinct dynamics and a memorable chorus are the trademarks to some of the most beloved Katatonia songs. 'Old Heart Falls' substantiates all of those attributes, but is not by any means defining the album as a whole. There is more to come..."
About the lyric video, guitarist Anders Nyström added: "Knowing we didn't want another 'font circus' with all these words and letters competing in Olympic acrobatics, we decided to make it extremely simple but also very real... 30 years ago when we were active in the underground tape-trading scene, there were no computers around, so we had to write all our letters by hand, or when feeling extra motivated, we used a typewriter. I clearly remember writing letters on a typewriter with a ribbon directly to paper created a special feeling that no computer would ever emulate. So determined to bring back this feeling for a brief couple of minutes, we passed on our idea to our talented friend Lasse Hoile who made sure this beautiful Royal typewriter served a final purpose before crawling all the way back to the start, returning to dust..." Profanatica Reveals Cover And Tracklist For New LP
New York black/death metal act Profanatica revealed the cover art and track listing for the highly anticipated new album, "The Curling Flame of Blasphemy," which will be issued soon via Hell's Headbangers Records . A summer release is expected with vinyl, CD, and cassette tape formats available (date TBA).
Forever the iconoclasts, Profanatica are both black metal legends and defiant of such concepts of "legendary." As one of earliest American black metal bands, during the dark 'n' bloody days of the early 1990s, Profanatica set out upon a course of utter blasphemy and barbaric primitivism, then retreated into the shadows as a cult icon, only to be resurrected years later once the black metal scene had finally caught up with the invention/degradation. When the band returned returned, with "Profanatitas de Domonatia" in 2007 through Hells Headbangers, the signature Profanatica sound was firmly in place, and yet masters Paul Ledney and John Gelso continued to challenge themselves and push this pulsing primitivism to uncharted waters of sin 'n' sickness. Three years later, "Disgusting Blasphemies Against God" pushed the envelope even further, and yet three more years again, 2013's "Thy Kingdom Cum" climaxed all over that envelope. Now, with "The Curling Flame of Blasphemy," Profanatica have gone back to the beginning while re-imagining the signature sound in the subtlest and yet somehow-most-powerful way. More...

Withering Soul Premieres New Music Video
Last summer Withering Soul released the stellar "Adverse Portrait" album via Mortal Music, but even if you've heard it a dozen times already, there's still more to be explored on this melodic USBM offering.
Today we have the honor of officially premiering a new music video for the "Awakening" track - check it out below!
For those foolish enough to not have been spinning the disc for a solid eight months already, you can hear all the tracks and pick up your own copy at Bandcamp here.
Withering Soul also had this to say about the new clip: "'Awakening' is the first official video that we decided to cut from the 'Adverse Portrait' album, as it is a pretty straightforward kick to the balls. On this song, a blackened thrash attack is prominent, all while venturing off into dark atmospheres and beyond. The video was composed in tribute to some of the great early horror films of the silent era."
