Forcentury Calls It Quits
Copenhagen-based metal outfit Forcentury last released the "Revelant" album all the way back in 2012 and has since been fairly inactive, with the group deciding to now officially call it a day. The band issued this statement online:
"FORCENTURY IS NO MORE........ It is with heavy hearts albeit with some relief, that we have now decided to close the book of Forcentury. Lives change, people change, bands change. The last 1½ years have been particularly tough. Losing our lead vocalist put the band in a vulnerable state, from which we tried very hard and long to recover.
"We had a great number of hopefuls audition for us, and while some rose above the rest, the general impression was still, that finding a suitable vocalist is as hard as finding true love. This, along with some rather major changes in our personal lives, has left us with very few options.
"We have discussed and pondered ways to record the next batch of songs, but we always return to the fact, that even if we managed to make an album, we would still have to hire a mercenary vocalist. In the end, we wouldn't have a complete band to bring the music to you, live, which is the main reason we have kept the engines running for 8 years.
"Maybe some day down the line, we will get fortunate enough to be able to record and perform under the Forcentury moniker once again, but for now — it's goodbye. Thank you all so much for your support over the years, and — as always — stay METAL!" More...

Harley Flanagan Releasing Memoir
Hardcore punk and metal crossover artist and controversial NYC mainstay Harley Flanagan (Cro-Mags) recently released his brand new solo album, appropriately titled "Cro-Mags." It's no secret that the writing of "Cro-Mags" surrounded Harley Flanagan's highly-publicized arrest in 2012. This record is a proverbial window into his world at that time.
"I first started writing the album in 2012. My intention was to write a bunch of short fast songs- old school style- the way I did it in the early days," states Flanagan. "I started tracking all the songs myself. Originally, I tracked them all on acoustic guitar, then I put drums on some of them."
He goes on to say, "Early in the project several things in my life exploded, one being the Webster Hall incident. As most people now know, I was jumped at a show that my old band was playing. I put several people in the hospital and I was stabbed in the leg and needed 40 stitches. I was arrested, my name was dragged through the mud, I went to Riker's, and went to court several times where the charges were eventually dropped for lack of evidence. After that, I went back into the studio to finish the album.
"I have always been the kind of writer who writes from my life experiences. My music and my book are extensions of me, not fantasy or fiction or BS. I don't write fantasy type lyrics, I never have, and unfortunately this is what was going on in my life at the time and this was really heavy on my mind, so that is what came out. It made for a very aggressive album. I haven't had that type of fire in me in a long time.
"I am in a much better place in my life now so I'm sure lyrically my next record will be much different, but you should definitely expect more aggressive riffs and songs."
2016 continues to be a busy year for Harley Flanagan, as he will also release a no-holds-barred memoir about his life, entitled "Hard-Core: Life of My Own," this fall via Feral House Publishing. In the book, Flanagan details his beginnings in the drug and crime ridden New York City of the 1970's to the early days of punk rock, hardcore, and beyond. Pre=orders are up now at this location. Originally released in 2010 in extremely scarce quantities, "Qliphothic Rites of Death" is a true gem of the black/death underground, and made all the more infamous and mysterious due to Seventh Xul disbanding right after its release.
In the band's own words, "The Ayin of Creation and Destruction Forces crowned this effort, and the necromantical vision took form in 2010 only for this release. The band split up immediately, as we felt that this was our only goal from the beginning. A unique release serving that period of wondering & isolation..." More...

Dust Bolt Releasing "Mass Confusion"
It's been five years since southern Germany's Dust Bolt won the W:O:A Metal Battle 2011 - five years the band used to transform from hot newcomers into national thrash heroes with the debut "Violent Demolition."
These Bay Area aficionados are now ready to drop their third full-length album "Mass Confusion," due to hit stores on July 8th, 2016 via Napalm Records. Dust Bolt comments:
"We are more than thrilled and excited to unveil 'Mass Confusion!' We have never put so much blood, sweat and tears in anything else than this album before. Since the release of 'Awake The Riot' we've incredibly learned, as musicians, as people and together as a band. With 'Mass Confusion' we have managed to accurately represent the band, exactly the way we wanted it to convey and we are incredibly happy about that.
"It shows the typical Dust Bolt sound, as well as new sides from us, which makes the album so unique. Our goal was to show that a new generation of musicians and metal bands have grown up, which is now ready to face the world with Mass Confusion on July 8th - The day everyone lives in confusion!" Be'lakor Reveals New Album Details
If your eyes considerably lighten up when somebody casually mentions the name Be'lakor, you're either a part of the Warhammer fantasy cult or an absolute connoisseur of Australian melodic death metal!
Something for the nerds in both cases, one might be quick to assume, but the sophisticated tunes of this Melbourne five-piece definitely have the potential to enthrall masses with upcoming masterpiece "Vessels." The album will drop on June 24th, 2016.
Be'lakor also had this to say: "'Vessels' is the product of well over a year's hard work - without doubt, it's the album that has challenged us the most. It's much richer and more textured than any of our other albums. There are parts, which sound like the Be'lakor that fans know, while other sections might surprise some people. Our goal was to keep the music exciting and varied, for us as much as for anyone else. Vessels is also our first concept album, which has meant that lyrically we've really pushed ourselves this time around. We hope our fans will enjoy it as much as we do!" More...

Family Signs With Prosthetic Records
Prosthetic Records just inked a new record deal with NY outfit Family. The label had this to say about the new deal:
"Brooklyn’s Family has been wowing audiences since 2011 with its unique and earnest blend of classic rock meets modern heaviness, alongside a healthy dose of behind-the-beat New Orleans groove and progressive rhythmic patterns. The band has embraced an amorphous collective approach, enduring lineup shifts that have continuously evolved its sound. Throughout the process, previous members have maintained involvement, contributing to live performances and forming offshoot bands together.
"Prosthetic will release Family's sophomore album 'Future History' this summer. A teaser video can be seen below, with more details coming soon. The band will play at Webster Hall in NYC on March 29th with new labelmates Scale the Summit and North, along with headliner Intronaut, and is also confirmed for the 2016 Psycho Vegas festival in late August.
"Family's electrifying debut 'Portrait,' a concept album about a dysfunctional family that develops supernatural powers, was released in 2012 on Robin Staps’ (The Ocean) label Pelagic Records (Cult of Luna, Mono, The Ocean). 'Portrait' was produced by bandleader Steven Gordon, engineered and mixed by Justin Mantooth at Translator Audio (Unsane, Cave In), and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Mastodon, Baroness, Torche). The same production team has reunited to create 'Future History' as well." More...

Cage 9 Releases New Video
LA’s Cage 9 just released a new video for “Everything You Love Will Someday Die” - the first single from upcoming album "Illuminator," due out June 10th via EMP Label Group, the label founded by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson (distributed by eOne in North America, and SPV in Europe).
Cage9 main man Evan Rodaniche had this to say about the track: “This song is dedicated to my father, who passed away about a month ago after a two year battle with cancer. But even when I first wrote these lyrics at the onset of his terminal diagnosis as a sort of comforting mantra, in the back of my mind I believed my dad was indestructible. I never thought I’d be adding an 'in loving memory' dedication at the end of this video. But then he was gone. And that’s what this is all about. We spend our modern lives wrapped up in our first world problems, completely disconnected with the natural cycles of the planet around us."
He continues, "We shot the video DIY with a couple Canon DSLR cameras, a black sheet in
our rehearsal room and about forty non-actor friends, fans and family who showed up one sunny Los Angeles afternoon in 2015 to mouth the lyrics to a song they’d never heard. We aimed to bring home the message that no matter who you are, we’re all in this together. 'Everything You Love' is also the track that caught David Ellefson’s attention and ultimately inspired him to sign us to EMP. After a few conversations with our A&R guy Thom Hazaert, he brought it to David, and he got it. The rest is history." More...
