Invehertex Releasing "Hacia el Vórtice"

On June 3rd, Signal Rex - in conjunction with Atavism Records - is proud to present a limited digipack version of Invehertex's debut album, "Hacia el Vórtice."

Originally released last year in limited quantities, "Hacia el Vórtice" became an instant classic with those lucky souls who it easily bewitched, and Signal Rex strongly felt this special record needed a new lease on life.

Grim and hideous, yet evoking an atmosphere simultaneously aeons old and far off into the future, "Hacia el Vórtice" is a staggering work of black metal magick, clocking in at 78 minutes, with two tracks topping 20 minutes a piece.

1. Entrada
2. Aurora Magna
3. Encrucijada
4. Encuentro con el Ave Negra
5. El valle del Letargo
6. Naufragio
7. Penumbra
8. Hacia el Vórtice

NKOTWT Streaming "Infernal Machine" Album

Infernal Machine, the impending release from Swedish progressive space rock faction New Keepers Of The Water Towers, is currently streaming in it's kaleidoscopic entirety. Listen in below!

The stream comes in advance of the record's official North American release on April 1st via Listenable Records. Attempting to label New Keepers Of The Water Towers feels futile. This Stockholm-based five-piece has grown at such a consistent pace since first forming in 2006 that pigeonholing the band's unique sound is immediately outdated with each passing album. More...

AHTME Streaming Full Album Online

"The Demonization" is the latest full-length from Kansas City technical death metal squad, AHTME. Listen in below.

Initially issued under the band's original moniker of The Roman Holiday in 2013 and now seeing proper release by Unique Leader Records, "The Demonization" was recorded with Navene Koperweis (Animosity, Animals As Leaders, Entheos) in San Francisco and delivers forty-minutes of pure, sonic battery.

Adds the band: "When we hit the studio to lay down 'The Demonization' in 2009, we really wanted to come away with something that emulates the aggression and ferocity that we feel play huge roles in our live performances and what we walked away with was exactly that. We really focused on making the music angry, fast, and most importantly groovy, and the vocals absolutely follow suit. We all threw in our two cents and the lyrical themes span a pretty vast subject field touching a lot on religion, personal psychedelic experiences, and just the overall absurdity of what life on present day earth has come to. 'The Demonization' is an excellent introduction into what we as AHTME have come to embody." More...

Cold Snap Covers "These Boots Are Made For Walkin"

Croatian groove metal outfit Cold Snap pays homage to Nancy Sinatra with a cover version of "These Boots are Made for Walkin."

The song (originally written by Lee Hazlewood) was produced by the iconic Danish metal producer, Tue Madsen (Suicide Silence, The Haunted, Sick of it All, Mnemic, Dir En Grey) at Antfarm Studios, Denmark.

When Cold Snap was invited to perform at Wacken Open Air in 2012, the band rehearsed this song for a live set at the infamous metal festival, and also recorded it for future release.

“We wanted to do something special for the festival’s twenty-fifth anniversary that year” states vocalist Jan Kerekes. “So we performed the song at the end of our set, however we sung it as These Boots Are Made for Wacken. Since the song wasn’t written by us, we weren’t sure how to go about getting the clearance to release it, so it sat on a shelf for the past couple of years, unreleased.”

Bassist Zoran Ernoic continues “One day we had a meeting with our A&R guy at Eclipse Records and we played the unreleased song, and he immediately wanted to release it. They were able to get the necessary license in place, and now, after four years, we’re thrilled to release our version of this song for everyone to enjoy.” More...

Slain Released On Steam

Last summer we reported that Curt Victor Bryant (formally of Celtic Frost) would be recording the full soundtrack for bloody-as-all-fuck 2D platformer "Slain."

Today that game finally sees its official release via Steam here! The base price for this Castlevania-inspired game is $12.99, with 10% off this weekend in celebration of the official launch.

Slain is described as: "A heavy metal inspired combat with puzzle elements and gore galore. Stunning visuals and true old school gameplay with classic arcade combat accompanied by the most metal soundtrack you've ever heard. Prepare to be Slain! Will you accept the challenge..."

Unfortunately it looks like reviews are mixed and leaning negative (62 positive and 92 negative on Steam as of this writing) with some not caring for the controls, although the music seems to be pretty killer. Let us know if you pick it up and give it a try!
