Polish melodic death metal band InDespair strikes out with a first professional music video for "Under Cold Sky," which can be seen below.
The video was shot in a ruined post-communist manufacturing plant in Wroclaw, Poland, days before the facilities were razed to the ground. "Under Cold Sky" is one of three songs recorded to showcase the band's new singer and departure from its heavy/thrash roots towards the Swedish school of melodeath with hooky riffs, blistering solos, thunderous double bass, and memorable choruses.
InDespair's debut album "Time to Wake Up" (recorded with the previous singer and released in 2012) is available on iTunes, Spotify, CD Baby and a variety of other streaming and digital distribution services. More...

Italian progressive metal act Adimiron has teamed up with MetalSucks.net to launch an animated music video for the song "Ayahuasca," taken from the band's fourth studio album, "Timelapse," which is out now on Scarlet Records. Check out the video below.
Named after the hallucinogenic brew used by indigenous tribes of South America, the band describes "Ayahuasca" as "the perfect concept for the final track of 'Timelapse,' which was born with the desire to gradually carry the listener on a mystical and visual journey to the end of the album."
Czech artist Monika Janouchová, responsible for the "Ayahuasca" video animations, states: "'Ayahuasca is an inspiring song. It has the power to take us to unreal places, and I just wanted to transform its potential into images. Each scene and situation brings us, together with the music, to a long surreal trip. Our mind opens and we are enabled to see more...It's like a vivid dream in which we cannot tell whether it is real or not and if everything will be normal once woken up."
"With Timelapse, we're trying to explore our relationship with the only aspect that cannot be modified in our lives: the flow of time," commented guitarist Alessandro Castelli. "The new album extends all our personal and daily feelings about the choices that compose our identity, a sort of glass sliding doors. But Timelapse is not only a mirror reflecting our inner tensions, it's like a 'portal' to our relationship with the surrounding world and how it's been modified from the beginning." More...

"Completely different" is what fans both old and new can expect on Corpse Garden’s upcoming release "Entheogen," says vocalist Felipe Tencio.
The Costa Rica based five-piece steeped with death metal roots recently announced "Entheogen," the band’s second album, will be released on May 15th through both Russia’s Satanath Records and Germany’s RTM Productions, with North American distribution through Sevared Records.
Felipe goes on to elaborate, “This album is dark, dense and aggressive. However, there are certain parts of it which focus mainly on psychedelic, hypnotizing passages that help build the atmosphere we want to create. We were immensely influenced by 70's progressive rock bands for this album so it's a more experimental approach to death/black metal.”
You can judge for yourselves on what to expect as "Corpse Garden" has unveiled the first single from the album entitled "Suspended Over The Abyss." Listen in below. More...

New Jersey's instrumental quartet NY In 64 - featuring former members of You And I and current residents of East Of The Wall - will release recently completed debut LP, "NY64," via Magic Bullet Records on April 7th with a vinyl edition to follow shortly after.
The enigmatic album's artwork, track listing, and additional details have been revealed this week, in addition to new live shows the band is booking in support of its release.
NY In 64's maiden voyage into album land explores vast, lush terrain in genre territories some may apply "post" prefixes to, or refer to as "progressive," but the simple fact is, the band merely executes instrumental and melodic hardcore rock.
The seven dynamic sequences that formulate "NY 64" were recorded in November at Volume Fact and Backroom Studios (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Foxy Shazam, Meek Is Murder) by guitarist Chris Alfano, and mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East, with the cover photography and layout by guitarist Justin Hock. Oakland-based atmospheric doom quintet and recent Metal Blade signees, Secrets Of The Sky, will release a sophomore full-length this May.
Titled "Pathway," the mammoth thirteen-track follow-up to 2013's "To Sail Black Waters" was engineered, mixed, mastered, and co-produced by Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios. Metal Blade Records comments:
"Dark, brooding, pure, eclectic, 'Pathway' features Garett Gazay fluctuating between monstrous growls and clean, soothing vocal cascades, all the while complimenting the twisted compositions of guitarists Andrew Green and Clayton Bartholomew. Bassist Ryan Healy and drummer Lance Lea round out the lineup, their rhythms and distinctive voices adding further depth to the collective's meticulous, blackened soundscrapes.
"Sonically, Secrets Of The Sky aimed for a massive, clean, and organic sounding production. Much time was invested in obtaining huge drum sounds and the focus was on single performance takes throughout the process. The result is an ambitious foray into conceptual storytelling, coupled with emotional music full of peaks and valleys. This is a metal record, to be sure, but more importantly, it sounds like an album of music. This is not a random sequencing of songs or a search for a 'hit' single; the tracks all have their place in the story, and the cuts in between actually drive the narrative through sound effects and ambiance."
Comments Bartholomew of the first single: "'Three Swords' was the first song we put together for the new album when we started writing it back a year or so ago. In fact, the songs on the album were written in the order they appear on the record. The first album, To Sail Black Waters, ends with a single guitar part fading out, and the same riff fades in to the Pathway album via 'Three Swords.' The song is just a piece of the overall puzzle that constitutes Pathway, which I believe as an album is more well-rounded and dynamic as a whole than any of our previous work." More...
Hammer King's "Kingdom of the Hammer King" will be out via Cruz Del Sur Music on May 5th, 2015. The label comments:
"Hammer King represents the perfect, balanced heavy sound of the German power metal tradition, highlighted by the right dose of epic tones.
"The music moves around the figure of singer/guitarist/composer Titan Fox (Ross The Boss’ singer). The line-up is completed by former Saltatio Mortis drummer Dolph A. Macallan, K.K. Basement on bass and Gino Wilde on guitar. All the musicians involved in this band have an aged and trained background in metal music, as demonstrated through the masterful Kingdom of the Hammer King!
"What surprises most on the album is the catchy immediacy of the compositions. Indeed, the melodies and glorious guitar solos embed and remain in the brain. 'Aderlass; Blood of Sacrifice,' 'Chancellor of Glory,' and the title track are a perfect examples of epic power metal anthems that’ll have you singing at the top of your lungs and fist-pumping for the duration. All killer, no filler; Kingdom of the Hammer King is the complete package!"
The album was recorded and produced at the Greywolf Studios by Powerwolf's own Charles Greywolf. The cover artwork was created by German Artist Timo Würz and the track listing is: More...
Sometimes you have to start from the present and work backwards to get a story in context. On April 6th, Stoneghost will release the relentless and blistering "New Age of Old Ways" on the Mascot Label Group (Black Label Society, Volbeat, Gojira, Joe Bonamassa), but the band very nearly never made it to this point.
Front man, tattoo artist, and mouth piece Jason Smith recalls: “I was having a kid and I couldn't cope with it, I didn’t think I would be able to carry on with the band too, I wasn’t in a good place.”
Deciding to depart with a powerful epitaph of what they were capable of, the band members were to collectively exit the world with a "New Age of Old Ways:" the last record of a promising but fledgling act, it was then that the reverberating noise reached the ears of Mascot and things were to change.
Formed in Bromley, South East London in 2007 amongst a thriving underground scene, Jason Smith (vocals) began the journey with Cris Finniss (Drums), Jamie Nash (Bass) and Andrew Matthews (Guitar) as Snakebite. The quartet quickly became a dominant fixture on the London circuit with their blend of hardcore, metal, and adrenaline-fueled rock.
In 2009 the group opened Bloodstock Festival and stormed the stage in front of 1500 people. This led to the band playing the Ronnie James Dio Stage at Bloodstock the following year alongside Opeth, Fear Factory, Children of Bodom, Gojira and the Devin Townsend Project. A trip to Germany to perform at the Wacken Open Air festival came next as did Metal Hammer's Hammerfest IV in 2012. More...
Swedish blues rock trio Kamchatka will release sixth studio album, "Long Road Made of Gold," on May 22nd, 2015 via Despotz Records.
Today, the band has teamed up with Diffuser.fm to stream the first single, "Get Your Game On." Listen in through the SoundCloud player below.
"Long Road Made of Gold" was recorded in Kamchatka's own studio and rehearsal room, the "Kamchatka shelter," and mixed and mastered by Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir).
"Even though our music is rooted in '60s and '70s music, it's important for us to have a contemporary sounding album," explained drummer Tobias Strandvik. "We don't want to repeat ourselves either, and having Russ Russell mixing and mastering certainly gives it the punch and power we wanted. Russ is mostly known for extreme metal like Napalm Death etc., but embraced this project with open arms and the sonic outcome is definitely our strongest to date." More...

Brooklyn Vegan is today premiering the new self-titled album from Blackout, which can be heard below.
The band was initially formed by guitar player/vocalist Christian Gordy and drummer Taryn Waldman at Gordy’s July 4th cookout in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York back in 2011.
Waldman, a former Hooter's waitress turned big time commercial film editor and Gordy; a one-legged bartender/artist/BBQ enthusiast were (by their own admission) something of an oddball couple for NY's rigid metal scene. Yet with no direction and zero discussion both connected instantly and instinctively began banging out massive caveman jams against a patriotic backdrop of food, alcohol and the stars and stripes.
"Blackout" by Blackout will be released worldwide on RidingEasy Records on March 31st, 2015 and the band will be throwing an official album release party at Union Pool, Brooklyn on Saturday April 11th. More...

South By Southwest (SXSW) is a festival for discovering new bands. The Skull is only three-years old and released their debut album “For Those Which Are Asleep” just last year. However, its members, Ron Holzner and Eric Wagner have a long history in the metal scene. The two formerly played in the highly influential band, Trouble, which is rooted as far back as 1979. The Skull took its name from Trouble’s second album, which Wagner lent his vocals to. The group also plays early Trouble songs live. I caught up with vocalist Eric Wagner before the band played one of three performances at SXSW. In the following brief interview, Wagner discusses the history of The Skull, its formation, members and lyrics. More...
Discreation's "Procreation Of The Wretched" will be released on May 22nd, 2015 via FDA Rekotz / Soulfood as a CD, LP, and digital download. FDA Rekotz comments:
"Discreation celebrates death metal that combines the best elements of both the American and European schools of death metal by melting blast, groove and melodies into a unique mixture.
"With 'Procreation Of The Wretched,' Discreation are about to open a new chapter in their career. The music became even more heavy and darker, both being emphasized by the new band logo. The album was recorded with Thilo Krieger at the Desert Inn Studio. The natural production captures the live feeling perfectly without missing the contemporary punch.
