Crowd-funding For Album Covers Book Reaches Goal
The race for printing and distributing the upcoming book "And Justice For Art" (which tells the stories behind the making of artworks as iconic as Slayer's "Reign In Blood," Metallica's "And Justice For All," Death's "Symbolic," Carcass "Heartwork," At The Gates' "Slaughter Of The Soul," Opeth's "Heritage", etc.) just reached a new milestone. With one more week to go, the book's Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign has already reached the astonishing amount of $16.267.00. This means almost 200% of its original goal.
"It's simply amazing," enthuses author, Ramon Oscuro Martos, who originally put together the Indiegogo campaign, hoping to raise a couple of thousands dollars in order to produce about 100 physical copies of the book. "With this new amount I'll be able to print and distribute at least 400 copies and it could be even more by the end of the campaign."

Slipknot Addresses New Member Speculation
As part of Metal Injection's Knotfest report, west coast correspondent Johnny Orlando Jr. had a chance to speak with Slipknot's Clown, who addressed the speculation about the band's new bassist and drummer:
"We got a new drummer and a new bass player. Get the fuck over it. Oh well! You know it’s so funny how stupid people are. Even though everybody thinks they know, they keep asking.
"So I don’t have to say shit and I’m going to sit here for the rest of my life and just wait for everybody to figure it out. If you think you know, maybe you do, maybe you don’t. But don’t ask me because I don’t care. And it’s awesome, because people can’t let that go."
The band's new full-length album ".5: The Grey Chapter" was just released last week.

Housecore Horror Film Festival Day 1
The festival was able to condense four hours down to one but the first day of HHFF started an hour late. I didn’t expect to see any of Evil United since they were suppose to have ended at 12:30, but my 1:15 arrival time allowed me to catch a couple of songs from the Austin-based band. Evil United may be local, but the group consists of veterans such as Jason McMaster—who was well known in the eighties as front man for Dangerous Toys and Watchtower. In addition to Evil United, he now sings in Ignitor and Broken Teeth. McMaster’s voice soared through the parking lot that comprised Midway’s stage, Evil U was the sole representative of classic heavy metal at the festival. More...

Lita Ford Recruits New Guitarist
Lita Ford has announced the addition of guitar player Patrick Kennison to her band. Patrick has been on the road with the group the past few weeks and is truly bringing a new energy to the table. Lita comments:
"Patrick Kennison is our latest and greatest addition to Team Lita! He shreds on guitar and is killer at singing backing vocals. He adds so much energy to the already thunderous sound, just another reinforcement that we will be blowing the doors off the place, and killing it in our future recordings.
"We are able to bring down the house together with Marty O'Brien jamming on Bass and Bobby Rock behind us bashing the drums, together they are the best of the best musicians, Hollywood California's finest line up. Welcome Patrick Kennison!!!"
Kennison also comments on joining the band: "It's both an honor and a blast to share the studio and stage with the queen of metal. I attended many Lita Ford concerts as a kid and was always blown away by her guitar playing and take no prisoners approach to the concert stage."
In other Lita Ford news, Lita narrated the brand new Randy Castillo documentary entitled "The Life, Blood and Rhythm of Randy Castillo." The film is the story of the late drummer who played with Ozzy Osborne, Motley Crue and other rock and roll icons of the 1980s and 1990s. Enslaved Issues New Studio Update
Checking in from Duper Studios in Bergen, members of Enslaved today offer the second installment in the seven-part “Diary Of Mad Men” series shedding insight into the upcoming as-yet-untitled thirteenth studio album, set for an early 2015 release.
“It has been something like 10 months since the first song was written for this album, but it feels like an eternity with all the touring and normal & special shows!” explains guitarist & composer Ivar Bjørnson. “Now time is back to normal time, and things are going really well from the get-go: Cato [Bekkevold, drummer] laid down something like one-third of the drums for the album just during the first day!”
Cato Bekkevold adds: “This album is very complex and challenging to record, and I guess the same words will be frequently used both by the critics and the listening audience. But rest assured that it - as always - is 100% pure Enslaved.”
Main recordings for the as-yet-untitled new album are taking place at Duper and Solslottet Studios in Bergen, Norway with additional recordings done at Conclave & Earshot Studios (presided over by Enslaved members Larsen and Ice Dale), and Ivar Bjørnson’s Peersonal Sound Studios. Additional experimentation and sonic exploration will be conducted deep in the woods of Valevåg south of Bergen where the band took a mobile studio to record the infamous ‘Thorn’ 7” single in 2012. Recorded by Ricky Olson and mixed by Bryan Walthall and Ricky Olson at Rusty's and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Engineering, False Light delivers a punishing slab of seven tracks fans of Craft, Horna, Gehenna, The Secret and Mutilation Rites will undoubtedly hail and praise." Phil Anselmo Comments on Corey Mitchell Death
Housecore Horror Film Festival co-founder/best-selling true crime author, Corey Mitchell, suffered a deadly heart attack early Monday morning at Emo's, venue home of the event. Mitchell's tragic and untimely passing follows the fest's second epically successful weekend of metal and horror.
Said partner/Housecore Records head, Philip H. Anselmo, in an official statement: "This is stunning. After a weekend of incredible bands, awesome horror films and masses of fantastic people, tragically, unexpectedly, and with heart-crushing reality, co-founder of The Housecore Horror Film Festival, Corey Mitchell, passed away Monday, October 27th 2014, after the event ended.
"This is devastating on so many levels, I can't and won't go into how tremendous a loss Corey's untimely death truly is. I was introduced to Corey first and foremost as a best-selling crime author, and shortly after that meeting I agreed to have him as my co-writer of an unfinished novel I'd been working on. It was his idea to create a horror and film festival that would became The Housecore Horror Festival. He had a vision, and no one worked harder than him to see the event through. But forget festivals. Forget books. We lost a great friend. From all of us here at Housecore Records, we extend our utmost condolences to his wife, Audra, and his two beautiful young daughters.
"This is devastating on countless personal levels, and I'm finding it difficult to type these lines. We lost a brother. We lost a great man with a passion for everything that we love. He will be unfathomably missed... RIP Corey. His legacy will never be forgotten, nor will his friendship. With supremely heavy hearts, we mourn. Sincerely - Philip H. Anselmo" More...
