Arizona's Phoenix & Dragon has announced the recruitment of a new singer to the band's lineup. Classically-trained Danny Aiello will debut with the group at The Blooze Bar in Phoenix on October 17th.
“People who’ve been following us for the last few years might not realize that our music has lyrics,” said founding member and lyricist Teddy Arunski. “We’ve been looking for a singer since 2012, but it wasn’t until we were introduced to Danny that we felt we’d found someone with the talent and training to keep up with the rest of the band.”
Aiello, who is a vocal instructor at The School of Rock in Gilbert, AZ, has a wide range of musical influences, but what sets him apart is his love of opera and his classical training, which has given his voice extended range and power. After studying with tenor Augusto Paglialunga, Aiello began landing leading roles in musicals around Phoenix and became the youngest member of the Arizona Opera chorus in the 2013-14 season. More...

Bullet Tooth is excited to announce the 3xCD discography "Only Death Is Smiling" from Massachusetts metal legends Overcast.
The band started in the early 90s long before the explosion of metal from the New England area, and released a few albums on indie labels until the late 90s when the group broke up to focus on new bands like Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage.
As many of the Overcast titles are out of print, the band decided to release "Only Death Is Smiling" on Bullet Tooth featuring 45 tracks on 3 separate CDs, scheduled for official release in late 2014.
Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) comments: “In my eyes, Overcast was one of the most influential bands from their era. They came at a time where it wasn't so commonplace to mix heavy musical styles as much as they did. (And their singer Brian looked like a spooky creature from the deep with his hair.) Their ability to make unique, heavy, aggressive, and melodic songs was such a cool thing to see back then, and ultimately was what brought me to want to do a collaboration with Mike.”
Ken Susi (Unearth) had this to say: "When I was in the Danvers middle school system, one of my older high school friends Jay (Agoraphobic Nose Bleed) handed me ‘Expectational Dilution’ on a copied cassette. Needless to say, I was in awe! Overcast was and always be one of the greatest bands to come from the New England area! I followed them religiously from gig to gig and was lucky enough to share the stage with them once or twice. The Unearth camp still rocks the whole discography to this day! Fans for life!!!" More...

Come listen to the new album on loop whilst enjoying the brand new Exodus Burger at Kuma’s Corner in Chicago, IL, this Sunday from 7:00 - 10:00pm. The listening party will also include Exodus merch giveaways.
The Exodus Burger is being served up in celebration of the impending release of the band’s 10th studio album, "Blood In, Blood Out," due to drop October 14th via Nuclear Blast.
So what’s in the Kuma’s Corner Exodus Burger? Your taste buds are about to rocked, the burger features a 10 oz burger patty, fried veal strips, Arbol chile salsa, black rice and bean cake, Pepperjack cheese, and roasted Serrano peppers.
Lucas Tobias states, “We've been matching burgers and bands for years and the opportunity to pay homage to anyone involved in influencing a genre in its infancy is always one that we want to take part in. So, when thrash legends Exodus announced the release of their new record, Blood In, Blood Out, we jumped at the chance to create something worthy of the legacy they've established for themselves. We went to work crafting a burger to match the intensity of their music and still tastefully, in our way, give them the credit they are due. This is our homage to one of the godfathers of thrash metal.” More...

"When they perform on stage, Rublood delight their audience with a magnificent gothic show, which allowed them to be noticed by the producers of Warner Bros film ‘Studio Illegale.’ The band appears in the film performing the first single ‘Through The Looking-Glass’." More...
The Colombian Gothic doom metallers from Charm Designer are currently working on the recordings of their sophomore (and as-yet-untitled) release, which will tentatively see the light of day early next year.
For the follow-up to 2008’s “Blood Sounds,” the band is working with producer Waldemar Sorychta (well known for his work for such bands as Samael, Tiamat, Lacuna Coil, Sentenced, Moonspell, and Tristania, among many others), who will be in front of the production duties for a Latin American band for the first time ever.
Further details are still forthcoming, and you can follow the recording process over at the Charm Designer Facebook profile.
U.K. rising rock/metal quintet In Search Of Sun has teamed up with ArtistDirect.com to launch a music video for the track "Draw The Line," taken from the "The World Is Yours," which released earlier this week on Raging Demon Entertainment.
"We had so much fun making this video," the band told Artist Direct. "It was a breath of fresh air working with such awesome people. It's short and sweet, but it certainly gets the message across. The song is about how, no matter what you do, the government are always tracking your every move. However, no matter what they do, they cannot get into your head, so we're trying to tell people to use some initiative to think outside the box and excel in what you do. The girls in the video represent the silver lining in every cloud. Break for nothing!" More...

"Matt replaces our good friend Rob 'Bodybag' Babcock, who we wish all the best for in the future. We're sure you'll all make Matt feel welcome onstage (read: buy him beers) and all the guys in the band are psyched to bring you the latest and greatest version of Exhumed.

"Prolapse" leads with six cranked-up American Heritage originals followed by three covers, the album energizing the listener from the lead riff of opening track, "Eastward Cast The Entrails." Greek black metal vanguard Acherontas today reveals the title for the band's upcoming album as "Ma Ion - Formulas of Reptilian Unification."
The album - Acherontas' fifth full-length to date - will be released by W.T.C. Productions during the early part of 2015, and follows the band's "Amenti" album released by W.T.C. in May of 2013. Acherontas comments:
"The Typhonian tradition is reflected upon our upcoming Grand Working bearing the name Ma Ion - Formulas of Reptilian Unification. All recordings finished. Now the album is in the hands of Abgrund Studio in Germany for mix and mastering. Our coven is honored by great artists and individuals. We are proud to have among us and feast at her salted waters: TT (Abigor), AR-Ra'd al-Iblis (Nightbringer), Nebiros (Ofermod/Malign), Indra (Naermataron/Tatir), Edgar Kerval (Emme Ya), and Jhon Longshaw (Black Seas of Infinity).
"With this new opus, we reached new fields of creation, musically and spiritually. Our mission was to create a path to rise the subconscious of the Mortal upon other planes of existence. To dream in ecstasy, to feast in orgy, and to rise the potential of the Mortal to feel behind the skin of matter...for these are not just words, but shells that form in flesh and blood."

Nuclear War Now! Productions has set November 25th as the international release date for Order From Chaos' vinyl discography box set "Frozen in Steel." The label comments:
"It is a nearly axiomatic principle that the most truly important artists tend to be overlooked or at least do not obtain the full extent of their deserved accolades during the time they produce their greatest work. Even in the context of underground metal, this principle is too often proven accurate.
"Such is the case with Order From Chaos. During the short span of the band’s existence, Order From Chaos garnered emphatic support from a relatively small faction of the underground, but went largely unnoticed by the scene at large. As time passed, however, the scene began to catch up with Order From Chaos and their albums attained their well-deserved canonical stature.
"Shortly after the three Kansas City, MO teenagers – Pete Helmkamp, Chuck Keller, and Mike Miller – united to form Order From Chaos in 1987, they clarified their mission: they would channel all their creative energy into the band, perfect the presentation of their message, and terminate the project after three albums in order to preserve the integrity of their statement. The band members adhered to this directive, and after recording three albums (augmenting their discography along the way with various demo and EP releases), they disbanded in 1995 following the completion of their magnum opus, An Ending in Fire.
"To bring the music of Order From Chaos into proper focus, the band (the members of which have all remained continually active in the underground metal scene since their days in Order From Chaos) worked together with Nuclear War Now! Productions to produce this definitive discography collection. Frozen in Steel contains all of the material Order From Chaos released during its existence. Included here are all the demos and early EPs revealing the band’s obsession with the likes of Venom, Sodom, Slaughter Lord, and Voivod among others. Listening to the demos, one hears the raw materials out of which Order From Chaos would later construct its definitive monumental statement of intent, the debut album Stillbirth Machine. While clearly maintaining the integrity of their approach on previous releases, the debut album extends beyond the confines of any particularized genre or subgenre; instead, it reflects a style that is wholly and completely that of Order From Chaos.
"With their second album, Dawn Bringer, Order From Chaos’ ability to refine their sound became remarkably apparent. As with any genuine musician, author, or artist, Order From Chaos was not content with remaining static, and Dawn Bringer shows the band expanding the borders of its sonic and thematic universe. Its inclusion in this boxset marks the first time the album has ever been committed to vinyl. Finally, if their first two albums and their impeccable collection of shorter EP releases did not secure Order From Chaos’ legacy, their final album, An Ending in Fire, is irrefutable proof of the band’s genius. It is, in fact, nothing short of a masterpiece. More...

Sweden's Nightingale is back in the spotlight with a long overdue 7th studio album. Entitled "Retribution," the follow-up to 2007's "White Darkness" will be released via the band's new worldwide label InsideOutMusic on January 27th, 2015 in North America.
Nightingale was established by musical multi-talent and producer Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity / Witherscape) almost 20 years ago and in the good tradition of the band -- which is completed by Dan's brother Dag Swanö (guitars, keyboards), Erik Oskarsson (bass) and Tom Björn (drums) -- the new album once again showcases a timeless hybrid of different musical styles. From atmospheric metal to catchy AOR and melodic prog, "Retribution" offers an amazingly broad variety of moods and always tuneful songwriting skills.
Dan Swanö, who contributes vocals, guitars and keyboards, commented: "We started putting material together for this album around 2008, but out of all those songs only two made it to the album. I felt that, unless it is the best possible Nightingale album, where every song on the album easily could replace any song from our previous albums, there was no point in making a new album at all.
"During the writing of the Witherscape debut album, I wrote a lot of stuff that would work better on a Nightingale album, and before I knew it, I had the skeleton for a lot of potentially awesome Nightingale songs! It was important that the new material had the vibe of the older albums, yet with a better production and performance.
"I am very confident that all the Nightingale fans will love 'Retribution' since I made sure I felt the same rush inside me when I listened to the tracks that I did upon listening to the finished version of our most famous tracks from the past!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. On Stolen Wings
2. Lucifer's Lament
3. Chasing The Storm Away
4. Warriors Of The Dawn
6. Divided I Fall
7. The Voyage Of Endurance
8. 27 (Curse Or Coincidence?)
9. The Maze
10. Echoes Of A Dream More...

Khold, Norway's premier exponent of groove-laden, grim black metal, has released a new video offering a track-by-track breakdown of the band's new album.

The Swedish heavy metal pioneers in Hammerfall are still enjoying the success of latest full-length record "(r)Evolution," but today the band also has to make the following major announcement:
“Life in a heavy metal band is indeed filled with twists and turns, highs and lows, ups and downs. On Monday, we rolled out our own whiskey, Legacy Of Kings. Today is a shocking and monumental day for all, Hammerfall members and fans alike: Anders Johansson has decided to leave the band, after 15 years as the drummer. Brought on by increasing musical differences, as well as a career in the music industry that spans almost four decades, he has come to the conclusion that enough is enough.
"But fear not, we have already formulated a plan to get us through this even stronger. As a replacement we have found a most excellent drummer in David Wallin, who most notably has been beating the skins in the Swedish industrial force Pain. David will fill the void left by 'The Swedish Tank' with his youthful intensity and fantastic musicianship during the upcoming tour. We wish Anders all the best in his future endeavors and hope that 15 years can’t be erased that easily.
"Also, bassist Fredrik Larsson will have his second child in December, and is therefore on parental leave through March. But we think you will like the choice to fill his shoes. For anyone who is the least bit familiar with Hammerfall, this one needs no introduction: handling the 4-string duty in Fredrik’s absence, none other than former guitar player Stefan Elmgren has agreed to make a triumphant return to the band! Yet another reason not to miss catching us live on the upcoming tours, this will be a very unique constellation.
"So it is with mixed emotions we say goodbye to an old friend and welcome an even older one back into the fold. The Swedish Templars of Steel cannot and will not be subdued, we will carry on heeding the call as long as the crimson thunder still is flowing in our veins. It is not the end of anything, it’s the dawn of a new era. And we welcome it with our hammers high!” More...
After some triumphant live-debut shows supporting Bolt Thrower and Morgoth, Dutch blackened death/doom metallers Soulburn are getting ready to release sophomore album, "The Suffocating Darkness," via Century Media Records on November 17th.
Consequently, Soulburn is now debuting the first song off the upcoming album. Check out "Under The Rise Of A Red Moon" below, thanks to Terrorizer.com.
Soulburn's Bob Bagchus comments: "This track shows well what Soulburn is all about: cold, dark and grim blackened doom/death metal. 'Under the Rise of a Red Moon' is furious and contains all the elements we love the most about metal. This song also shows that one does not need many riffs to create a grim atmosphere...this is a mid-paced assault with a pure and heavy 80's feel, just how we wanted it!"
