Wayne Static Dies

Update: although no cause of death has been released, Wayne Static's publicist has now issued a statement available here stating drugs were not involved.

Sources close to Wayne Richard Wells, a.k.a. Wayne Static, former mastermind of California industrial metal crew Static-X, have confirmed that the guitarist/vocalist has died at the age of 48.

Details are still sketchy, but inside sources indicate the death may have been drug-related. Micah Electric, drummer of Hollywood-based industrial rockers 9Electric, issued the following via social media:

"My friend Wayne Static has passed away.

"So glad to have known him, recorded with him, toured with him, partied with him and had MANY real conversations with him. He was a good soul who chose the wrong path.

"He will be missed."

Static-X released six studio albums through Warner Bros. Records over the ten-year span of 1999-2009. After formally disbanding the group, Static launched a solo career in a similar musical vein and released the debut album "Pighammer" in 2011.

Thee Maldoror Kollective Streaming New Album

The new full length by progressive avant-garde outfit Thee Maldoror Kollective, titled "Knownothingism," can be streamed below. The following press release was also issued:

"With its atmospheres slightly reminding of Portishead, Ulver, and Morphine, it is a creative zen walk into sound and a must-have album for all music enthusiasts, and will be released on November 3rd on CD and Digital by Argonauta Records.

"Progressive avant-garde master Thee Maldoror Kollective is actually the ongoing collaborative project involving members of the ritual drone doom outfit Shabda and a very close bunch of talented musicians that led to a over 15 years activity.

"The new album 'Knownothingism' is the 9th full length of the band and a massive step into their genre-melting extravaganza. Lyrically inspired by the Yin hemisphere of universal energy, the album features the charming vocals of Pina Kollars (courtesy of Peter Gabriel's Real World Records), moving further the entire work to smartly touch of rock, psych, prog, jazz, while keeping the sound into the most adventurous fields of laptop experimentalism." Idol Of Fear Offering Track For Download

Idol Of Fear's new full-length album "All Sights Affixed, Ablaze" is due out on November 18th and follows the 2013 debut EP "Scavenger."

The Canadian black/death band is also now giving fans a chance to download the title track for free over at NefariousRealm.com here.

Vocalist and guitarist Austin Myers comments: "The title track was penned during the depths of a dark winter. It is a lyrical blend of perseverance, strength, and exertion of the will through frigid existence. Our music has these themes of power and struggle that tend to reoccur, though it naturally ventures into different realms as well."

Mastered by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Corpus Christi) at Necromorbus Studio and mixed by Jeff Wardell, "All Sights Affixed, Ablaze" features eight crushing tracks that ascend to stand out with force. More...

Saille Releases New Lyric Video

With the release of new album "Eldritch" imminent (check out our review here), epic black metal outfit Saille just unleashed a brand new lyric video for "Eater Of Worlds."

Based on the classic horror novel "It" by author Stephen King, "Eater Of Worlds" is probably the most dynamic song on the forthcoming album.

"This song has a mix of aggression, melancholy and epicness," comments keyboardist Dries Gaerdelen. "Especially with the real recorded trumpets and strings. These really add to the quality of the song together with the rawest screams on any Saille album so far from Dennie Grondelaers. This one is a joy to play live and we're eager to bring it to the stages." More...
