Selene Announces New Release

Irish symphonic metal outfit Selene is happy to announce the band's new EP "Paradise Over" is due for release on October 17th worldwide.

This release will be the first to feature new members Cameron Ashlund-Glass (Darkest Era) on drums and Thomas Alford (Tim "Ripper" Owens, Sandstone) on bass.

Three songs can be heard below, and pre-orders in both physical and digital versions are avaialble at this location. The track listing is a follows:

Oathkeeper Releases New Music Video

Florida's Oathkeeper has dropped a music video for the "Fortune" single, which can be seen below. You can also pick up a digital copy of the single over at the Oathkeeper Bandcamp page here.

The group is gearing up to begin work on a new EP, and you can follow the latest on Oathkeeper by heading over to Facebook here. The band consists of:

Victims Of Contagion Streaming New EP

Victims of Contagion just released the "Parasitic Unborn" EP last month, and now you can hear all the tracks online or pick up your own copy via Bandcamp.

The EP, featuring a guest appearance by Bobby Koelble (Death), was mixed by Dave Piatek Recording Services in Cleveland, Ohio and mastered by Dan Coutant of Sun Room Audio, NY. The track listing is as follows:

Epitome Announces Album, Tour Dates

Melodic deathcore outfit Epitome will be releasing new album "The Origin Error" this coming October 31st via 7Hard Records.

Odyssey Signs Record Deal

Spokane-based instrumental metal outfit Odyssey has just issued the following update about inking a record deal and releasing a new EP:

Sunday Old School: Black Sabbath Part 2

As so many of our readers are aware, in the United States, the month of February is Black History Month. It’s also the time when we devote the Sunday Old School column to Black Metal history. What many of our readers might not know however, is that Black History Month is also held in the United Kingdom, albeit on a far less noticed scale. Since it doesn’t make sense to dedicate two months of the year to one genre, Metal Underground and Sunday Old School in particular, will focus on a different history, that of arguably the first, and many would say best, heavy metal band of all time. Welcome to Black Sabbath History Month!

Following the firing of their lead singer Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath’s future was cast in to a shadow as dark as their music. That was until their manager Don Arden’s daughter Sharon, now known of course as Sharon Osbourne, suggested that they bring in Rainbow’s former vocalist, an American by the name of Ronnie James Dio. Dio not only brought a new voice to the fold, but also a new attitude, helping the band become more driven than they had been in years.
