AC/DC To Open Final Rehearsal To Contest Winners
Last night, AC/DC opened the doors of their final dress rehearsal at Wilkes-Barre, PA's Wachovia Arena to contest winners from across the map, with fans traveling from as far as Scotland, the Czech Republic, Japan and beyond to see the band on the eve of their Black Ice World Tour.
Behind the back-drop of a giant train careening off track, the band roared onto the stage performing their new song, "Rock N' Roll Train" to the applause of an instantly charged audience. From there, the band whipped through decades of classic songs before returning to Black Ice with a stomping work-out of the album's title track. As the last notes of "Black Ice" wound-down, an oversize blow-up Rosie began to inflate, straddling the prop train and tapping her foot to the band's high-powered performance of "Whole Lotta Rosie" at full swell. After lighting the arena with his guitar pyrotechnics during "Let There Be Rock," Angus and the band retreated as the lights dimmed. Chants from the crowd accompanied the band's return to the stage for a two song encore, which ended with repeated cannon bursts as AC/DC closed out the night with a electric performance of "For Those About To Rock".
Smoke from the stage cannons lingered in halls of the Wachovia Arena long after the band's fans, piling into the cars and the fleet of buses that had caravanned them to the show, hit the highway to home.
AC/DC kicks off the Black Ice World Tour at Wilkes-Barre, PA's Wachovia Arena tomorrow. More...

Sons Of Azrael Replaces Drummer Derrick Sadkowski
Sons Of Azrael has replaced their drummer Derrick Sadkowski and replaced him with drummer Alex Chambers. A statement from former drummer Derrick Sadkowski reads as follows: “I’ve decided to step down as drummer of Sons of Azrael, this decision was made as I’m not confident in producing interesting and intriguing drumming on this upcoming album. My life has taken a few turns, and seems to be heading in another direction and touring/dumping my funds into a band seemed to become ambiguous, all things considered, I have to do what’s best for the band I helped create 5 years ago. By no means is the band grounded in any sense, since the Conjuration of Vengeance, they have found new talent in Karl Kirsch who has replaced Greg DiPasquale, and Alex Chambers who’s replaced me. Touring, and playing night-in night-out was one of the best experiences anyone could live through, and I’ll be thankful for everything- all the fans, Bud and Trevor over at Ironclad, parties, other bands I’ve shared the stage with, was great every time. As for other projects, I have a few things in mind, but I need to reinvent my drumming to achieve them. I promise I’ll be back around soon enough. Thank you”
As I Lay Dying To Film Live DVD Next Month

Playing shows all across Southern California is the perfect framework for our upcoming DVD. We are all proud San Diegans and even more proud of the diehard fans we have extending up the California coast. Each show on this mini tour will be distinctly different so that we capture every side of what As I Lay Dying is all about as well as what we've gone through in the seven and half years of our history. Metal Church To Go On A Six Month Break
American thrashers Metal Church has posted the following message online:
"We regretfully announce that Metal Church has been forced to take a hiatus from touring activities for six months or so. Kurdt Vanderhoof (guitar) has been suffering from serious bulging discs in his lower back and will have to be in regular spinal rehabilitation to correct the problem."
Kurdt released this statement earlier today:
"I have been living with severe pain almost constantly for the past four years and I have to do whatever possible to get healthy again. This condition is literally stealing my life from me, and making all the things I enjoy doing almost impossible. I want to be able to walk when I'm fifty and I can't live in pain anymore. But the good news is, with regular treatment and a rehab program I can get this fixed and get back to performing live and travelling again. This comes at a very bad time with the release of our new album, but it's unavoidable. I will be working in the studio on some new Metal Church projects, as well as completing Ronny Munroe's new solo album."
The band add: "The members of Metal Church will be pursuing other projects during this time and will get back to the stage as soon as Kurdt is healthy again. We thank all the folks that have been so supportive of Metal Church over the years and we appreciate your understanding in this situation. We will keep you updated as things progress."

Dreaming Dead Posts Tour Update, Live Footage
Los Angeles, California-based death/thrash metal band DREAMING DEAD has posted an update of their current "Within One 2008 U.S Tour" online and some live footage.
The band recently signed to IBEX MOON RECORDS and will release their debut album "Within One" on January 20th, 2009. The update reads:
"Hello fans and friends! We're about a third of the way through our U.S. tour and we're having a great time. The van is running well, we have a cooler full of food, and apart from a couple minor colds and hangovers we're feeling pretty good. The weather has been great, but the lack of rain and snow is tinged with sadness because so many lakes and reservoirs that we've driven by in California are really low. Bummer.
"Anyway, we're performing in a variety of venues and we've been playing strong sets every night. We had two really great shows opening up for the Death by Decibels tour with Dying Fetus, Kataklysm, Eluveitie & Keep of Kalessin. Shout out to the bands on that tour and to the crew for being super cool to us and helping us pull off our sets each night. Thanks to Tonus and Pete too for getting us on the Oakland show. The other shows have been great as well. We've played Santa Cruz, Chico, Eugene, Tacoma, and Spokane and we had a great kick off show at the Black Castle in Los Angeles. We've been getting great feedback from folks and we've sold lots of CDs and t-shirts. Extra huge thanks to everybody who helped us out by buying something. Enjoy! Also, thank you so much to all the kind people who have made us food or let us sleep in their homes. We couldn't do this without you.
"We're leaving the Pacific Northwest now and we'll be making our way through the Midwest all the way to Michigan and then back through the Southwest and home. So all you red state folks get ready. We're gonna be bringing you some heavy stuff this week. And if you just can't wait, check out a video of us live in Oakland performing the title track off our forthcoming album "Within One", due out January 20th 2009 on Ibex Moon records."
