Season of Mist To Reissue Classic Pentagram Albums
On next November 17th (January 27th in the US), Season of Mist will reissue two classic albums by cult doom band PENTAGRAM: 1999's "Review Your Choices" and 2001's "Sub Basement." Many have named the band the true heir of the British originators of heavy and doom metal, honourably dubbing them 'the American Black Sabbath'.
PENTAGRAM's fourth studio album "Review Your Choices" marked the band's sixth comeback after several changes of line-up and label. These acclaimed protagonists of doom metal proved once more indestructible by drug addiction, break ups, bad deals, jail terms, chronic illness, satanic blood sacrifices and various acts of self destruction. Mainman and singer Bobby Liebling has kept his band alive for nearly 40 years now and might easily be awarded the title of "longest serving cult band" - highly acclaimed by fans, press and fellow musicians alike. "Review Your Choices" marked the return of multi-instrumentalist Joe Hasselvander to join Bobby Liebling in his eternal quest of creating the heaviest sound possible. The album features a mix of re-recorded lost Liebling tracks from the 70's and stellar numbers penned by Hasselvander, which gave "Review Your Choices" an extra heavy feeling.
"Sub-Basement" was the second output of this line-up and is regarded as the most rock n' roll effort of the doomsters ever. On top of PENTAGRAM's perfect doom sound an irresistible groove and capturing catchiness was added, which made the album an all time favourite for many fans.
Both albums will be reissued with bonus tracks, new artwork and liner notes.
The Murdered Adds New Guitarist, Dan Nelson
The Murdered (Tribunal Records) has announced the addition of rhythm guitarist Dan Nelson. Here's a statement from the band:
"After taking some time off and doing tryouts for guitarists, The Murdered is very happy to announce the arrival of our new rhythm guitarist - Dan Nelson! Many of you have probably seen Dan play with his other band, On Paradise Boulevard. When Dan heard we were looking for two new guitarists he expressed an interest in trying out, and from the first practice together we knew that he was DEFINITELY one of the guys for the job.
"You guys will be able to see Dan play with us for the first time at this years BBQ Fest at The 7 Venue. Make sure you come out, it's going to be an incredible day with a lot of great bands!
"In addition to the news of a permanent rhythm guitarist, the one and only York Henderson (Stranger By Day, Drag The Waters) will be doing us the favor of filling in on lead guitar for our BBQ Fest set. Don't miss this, it's going to be RIGHTEOUS.
"As far as a permanent lead guitarist, we ARE still looking. We have some hopefuls but nothing concrete yet so please keep contacting us through the myspace if you are interested."

Stemm Discusses New Album, UFC To Use New Song
"This new STEMM CD is our 'Vulgar Display of Power'" states lead vocalist / guitarist Joe Cafarella.
Comparing their latest release, "Blood Scent" (Catch 22 Records) to the epic release by the metal gods, Pantera is admittedly making a bold statement, but Cafarella will not budge in his reasoning. "There is a lot that went into the making of this CD. We are not saying that we are the next Pantera, that’s not even close to what I am saying. We just wanted to make a CD that would not pigeon hole us into a certain cliché sound. Let’s face it, Pantera made it on their live performances. While MTV was playing ‘Walk’ and ‘This Love’ us metal heads were cranking Fucking Hostile and Mouth for War. I am telling you that you will get that same type of feeling on the new STEMM CD as you would listening to Vulgar. And it’s just as real…"
"e never followed the rules" says Cafarella. "Our entire career we have felt like the underdogs. No matter how many hoops we jumped through for the industry people, it just wasn’t good enough." But STEMM found an ally in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) who took a liking to the band in the beginning stages of their musical career branding them as "The soundtrack to the UFC. "We wrote a song called 'Face the Pain,' which became the theme song for the UFC." "The song honestly doesn’t represent what we stand as today musically because we were a young band when we wrote the song." laughs Cafarella. But, the UFC still uses the song for all pay-per-view events as well as many other STEMM songs from the bands musical library which is also heard as background music for UFC / SPIKE TV programs "Ultimate Fighter" and "Unleashed" "We’re honored to be recognized in the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) community and be able to cross over aggressive music with aggressive sport."
At press time it was also confirmed that the track "House of Cards" from the new STEMM release, "Blood Scent," was selected as the theme song for "UFC Wired," hosted by Joe Rogan (Fear Factor / UFC commentator) on the Fox Network for the 2008 / 2009 season.

Death Angel Bassist Quits The Band
More than 25 years after co-founding Death Angel with his brother Gus Pepa (guitar) and cousins Mark Osegueda (vocals), Rob Cavestany and drummer Andy Galeon, bassist Dennis Pepa has left the band.
“I’ve been with Death Angel since its inception in the ’80s and believe it is time for me to move on,” he said in a statement to Blabbermouth.net. “Throughout my career with the band, I’ve brought a punk-influenced edge to the Death Angel sound, and as an open-minded musician in need of change, I’d like to diversify and explore other opportunities within and beyond the genre of metal.”
Pepa insists he harbors no ill feelings towards his band members. “The Death Angel guys are my family, both literally and figuratively speaking, and I wish them luck on their future endeavors. Many thanks to the fans, who have extended their support and friendship. I look forward to being involved in new music projects and continuing to connect with all of you.”

Ralf Gyllenhammar comments:
"The time between Hannes quitting and David coming in has been chaotic. Finally it feels like we are a band again. David is the right guy and we believe we have done an excellent choice. He also shares our passion for intoxicating liquids."
David Johannesson comments:
"When Mustasch asked me to join the band I became very happy, but at the same time I was in the studio with my band Sparzanza to record our next album. In the end the decision was obvious. I quit my day-job the very same day I made my decision. Metal in the night."

Trivium Bass Player Checks In From The Road
Trivium bass player Paolo Gregoletto has issued the following statement from Birmingham, UK on the second day of the "Unholy Alliance Tour":
I literally got mugged when I jumped went up to the front barricade, the shirt ripped off my back. I knew it was going to be an insane show, but that was just a whole new level. You all just set the bar for not only the other UK dates, but the entire rest of the trek around Europe.
It was great catching up with our friends in Amon Amarth and Mastodon, we haven't toured with either band in about 3 years. The first night was a bit hectic for us with press so it was hard to catch a whole lot of either set but judging by the crowd reactions I could hear they had killer sets.
I caught a glimpse of Slayer as well, nothing but evilness coming from the stage! They are playing a killer set, I have never seen them play a lot of these songs live (Dittohead, Live Undead, etc...) If you are missing these shows you are a bastard haha!
As Jukebox Hero started to roll on the PA, we made our way down to the stage from our dressing way up at the top of the Apollo. There was a Slayer chant, then a Trivium Chant, then a bunch of loud undistinguishable crowd noise and our intro came on and it was go time. We did our pre show ritual group huddle and banter, and then it was only a matter of seconds till we were into KG.
Shit just went off, I jumped down into the audience mid way through, one of three times in the show, I lost a wrist band and got my bass way detuned, thanks!!! I remember random bits of the show after that, by the end the stage was covered in sweat, water, beer and just plain nasty. Corey was ripping solos on top of the PA's, I got out of the way of that shit because getting hit by a beast like Corey on the way down would be the end of me.
Matt had some classic lines too, my favorite was when he asked the audience "Who in hear hates Trivium? Make some noise!", some people responded, and then Matt said "No wonder I can't hear you, you scream like a bunch of pussies!', priceless shit!!! I was laughing so hard, and then Matt asked the Trivium friends and fans to make some noise and it was probably one of the loudest cheers of the night. Speaking of loud, how about Travis's kit, that shit sounds so killer! It's nice having a PA and monitor system that travels with the tour, I can actually feel the bass drum rattling my insides, it can't be healthy!
We have two new additions to our crew, Goodie (sound) and Mike (drum tech). Goodie joined us last tour and has been killing it at front of house every night, we can't do what we do without a good sound guy, buy the man a drink people (note: he likes Jaeger!!!) Mike had his first show with us last night and it went great as well, if you find him buy him some booze too!
Once again, thank you Manchester for showing us an amazing time!!!!!
See you tonight at the Wolverhampton Civic, Birmingham
Cypress Hill Frontman B Real Slams Guns N Roses
B Real, the leader of legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill recently did an interview with The Sun (English newspaper), during which he said “It’s Guns N’ Roses only in the sense of the name, it’s not them.” He mentioned that he was disapointed that Axl Rose was the sole remaining member of the original lineup since he was his least favourite member. Cypress Hill will be working with former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash on their new studio album which also boasts guest appearances from Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave fame.
Regardless of B Real's comments, Guns N Roses look as though they will be experiencing great success with their new album, "Chinese Democracy," the title track of which was the most played record in the United States on it's day of release.
