For Selena And Sin Begin Recording Second Album
For Selena And Sin begins recording their second ful-length album on the 6th of October. This time the band goes to Västerås in Sweden. The album is going to be recorded in Studio Underground and the man behind the levers and buttons will be Pelle Saether. Bass player Teemu Turkia comments on next album:
"With this new record we took a big step towards a new sound. We also thought a long time about the location of studio and we ended up in Sweded because of many reasons. Compared to our debut album, this new material will be more versatile and a little bit faster"
The album has yet to be named, but more albums details will be revealed as the recording process progresses.
Since their debut album "Overdosed on You", the band has been touring continuously, and are glad to be taking a break from the road to record some new material. They announce their new album with full intentions of returning to the road as soon as the album is completed.
Metallica Fans Petition For Remix Of New Album
According to Mark Fleischmann from HomeTheaterMag.com, thousands of METALLICA fans have signed a petition begging the band to remix its new album Death Magnetic, citing poor sound quality. So far the petition has gained over 13,000 signatures.
The petition states: "Death Magnetic is a fantastic effort from Metallica, however many of us are disappointed by the poor audio quality present on the album. Please sign this petition so that we can hopefully either get it remastered, or re-mixed, depending on where the problems occurred at some point, or to ensure that the next Metallica album does not suffer from the same issues, or get caught up in the loudness war that is ruining modern music."
Metalocalypse Season 2 DVD Due In December
The world’s biggest, most brutal, murderous and, well, incompetent heavy metal band will once again step into the spotlight in the upcoming Adult Swim DVD release, Metalocalypse: Season Two. From Adult Swim and Warner Home Video, this DVD will be available while the band is at the top of its game – in both the real and animated worlds. Not only does the band’s mega-stardom rank them as the world’s 12th largest economy – but the animated band, Dethklok, has also achieved unparalleled success in the real world. The level of brutality is raised to a whole new level as the band tries its hand at electrocutions, weddings and the glamorous world of publicity in the Metalocalypse: Season Two DVD, which includes all 18 second season episodes and a slew of hidden special features that fans will have to find. That’s right. Anything worthwhile demands some work. So buried within the DVD’s two discs will be a host of bonus features for fans to track down and blog about. Available on December 2nd for the suggested retail price of $29.98, the Metalocalypse: Season Two DVD’s preorder date is October 28th.
Created by Brendon Small (Home Movies) and Tommy Blacha (Da Ali G Show), Metalocalypse follows the on and off-stage adventures of the fictional Dethklok, the insanely popular animated Norwegian heavy metal band. In addition to being the world’s most brutal band members, Nathan Explosion, William “Murderface,” Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Toki Wartooth and Pickles are also stupid…dangerously stupid. From sold out concerts to late-night snack-attacks, the animated heavy metal band creates a wave of mayhem, death and destruction wherever they go, but thanks to their “really good lawyer” they manage to walk away legally unscathed on every occasion. Since debuting on Adult Swim in 2006, the series has become one of the highest-rated original series on the network and the second season was watched by more than five million 18-34 year-old viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. Moreover, the band’s debut CD – Dethklok: The Dethalbum – has become the fastest selling death metal album of all time since debuting at #21 on Billboard’s Top 100 list, and a real-live version of the animated band led by Brendon Small recently completed a sold-out 28-city tour.
Adult Swim will support the Metalocalypse: Season Two DVD release with a comprehensive marketing campaign including 30-second on-air spots on Adult Swim and online ads on various comic, entertainment, and underground sites.

Karma To Burn Re-releases Self-titled Debut Album
Metal Mind Productions announced the re-release of the self-titled debut album by the instrumental desert rock/psychedelic rock band - "Karma To Burn." This album was released in 1997 by Roadrunner Records. Some early reports on "Karma To Burn" stated that the band had "vocalist problems". The band had experimented with vocalists before (ex-Kyuss frontman John Garcia briefly worked with them), but a vocalist (Jason Jarosz) was recruited for their debut only to satisfy their record label. The vocalist departed soon afterward, and the band reverted to its preferred status as an instrumental trio, as well as to their convention of naming every song simply as a number, which they did on their last two albums.
The re-issue of "Karma To Burn" includes 5 live tracks as a bonus. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc. New digipak edition limited to 2000 copies. The release date is set up for 10th November 2008 in Europe and 20th January 2009 in USA (via MVD). More...
Opprobrium Signs Wtih Metal Mind Productions
Metal Mind Productions have recently signed a record deal with Opprobrium. This death/thrash band has been influencing the metal scene for more than 20 years now, at first using the name Incubus and then changing it to Opprobrium in 1997. During their career, the band has released four albums, each showcasing pure death metal.
As part of the deal, Metal Mind Productions will re-release the band's earlier albums, "Beyond the Unknown" (1990) and "Serpent Temptation" (1998), both remastered and in a new digipak edition, each limited to 2000 copies, along with Opprobrium's brand new record "Mandatory Evac" (2008) which was available only via internet. Opprobrium's album from 2000 - "Discerning Forces" – was re-released by Metal Mind Productions in late June 2008.
The release date of above titles is scheduled for: 3rd November (Poland), 10th November (Europe) and 20th January 2009 (USA).

Arch Enemy Guitarist Talks About New DVD
Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott has said the following about the bands forthcoming new DVD, "Tyrants Of The Rising Sun: Live In Japan":
“People are always asking us about Japan and the fans there… It is well known that Arch Enemy has been the most successful extreme metal band in the Japanese market for 10+ years, so we thought it’d be cool to show the Arch Enemy fans worldwide what it’s like when we tour there, this is your backstage pass to Arch Enemy, Nippon style! A lot of people felt that we raised the bar significantly with the quality of the ‘Live Apocalypse’ DVD – and I agree that was a great DVD, but I believe this monumental experience, that we are calling ‘Tyrants Of The Rising Sun” filmed totally in High Definition, - will leave you floored! With the metal world’s #1 producer Andy Sneap mixing the audio and the brilliant Paul Smith editing and directing the visuals, the results are impressive! And Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media bringing in some of the best artwork I’ve ever seen from him - we have a new DVD that we are very proud to present to our fans!”

Morello's Spokesperson Denies RATM Rumors
Earlier this week, a rumor quickly made its way across the blogosphere that the reunited Rage Against The Machine were beginning work on an album of new material.
Apparently, a "source," possibly from within the band's label, Sony, said that the band was readying new songs to be released in 2009."We're hopeful," the source explained, "but a new album is far from definite."
MusicRadar spoke with a spokesperson for guitarist Tom Morello, who said the story was "officially and unequivocally without merit. I can categorically deny this rumor. The band has no plans on recording new material."
That would appear to be that then. Since Rage Against The Machine reunited as a live act in 2007, they have been beseiged by questions as to when they enter the studio again (their last album was 2000's Renegades, which was comprised mostly of cover tunes).
During an interview last year, Morello addressed the subject of a new album: "There are no plans to do that." he said. "That's a whole other ball of wax right there. Writing and recording albums is a whole different thing than getting back on the bike (laughs), you know, and playing these songs. But I think that the one thing about the Rage catalog is that to me none of it feels dated. You know, it doesn't feel at all like a nostalgia show. It feels like these are songs that were born and bred to be played now."
Band members concentrating on separate projects. This past August, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, singer Zach de la Rocha has this to say: "We're going to keep playing shows - we have a couple of big ones happening in front of both conventions. As far as us recording music in the future, I don't know where we all fit with that. We've all embraced each other's projects and support them, and that's great."
Those side projects include Morello's just-released second album as The Nightwatchman, The Fabled City, and de la Rocha's new band called One Day As A Lion.
Currently, there are no additional Rage Against The Machine shows scheduled for this year, but the band hasn't ruled out future live work. Just don't go looking for a new album. As Morello's spokesperson put it, "We don't know where these rumors come from, but that's all this is: a rumor."
In related - but not really metal - news, Tom Morello has released a video for his latest single, "Whatever It Takes," which you can watch below: More...

"Being on tour and signing to a label and being poor and living in a van for all of eternity and blah blah isn't for everyone. you've probably noticed that most full-time touring bands go through member changes and.. well.. shit happens.. we still love john/brian/ryan, but life goes on and iWaBo will continue until we all fall apart or die in an epic van/plane crash!

“The Karmacode tour brought us to many different places around the world for the first time and we managed to record some of those great, outstanding shows, where the interaction with the people was just magic. This DVD is a beautiful reminder of where we have been in the past 3 years with all our body, mind and soul.”

Earlier this week, Alice Cooper played “Vengeance Is Mine” from "Along Came A Spider" on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on the CBS Network in the U.S. and he wasn’t allowed to do it the way he wanted to. He wanted to re-enact a piece of his new video by picking a female victim from the audience to choke with a silk scarf, but the TV Station wouldn’t allow it.
However, in an effort to show the TV station what they missed out on, the premiere of the uncut, uncensored video has been moved up and the video released online. Clocking in at 9+ minutes long, it features three songs from the "Along Came A Spider" album.

Warrant Drummer Checks In From The Road
WARRANT drummer Steven Sweet has posted the following road report:
"Well, well, well. Here it is... Finally. The much awaited, long anticipated, highly overrated... no wait a minute, scratch that last proclamation - brutally agonizing - yeah, that's better.... road report by,... well, me Steven Sweet (if that really IS my name?). It all started one day last September; 5 boys from different parts of the United States decided to join forces and conquer the world, or at least Maplewood, MN (which by the way might sound a hair more impressive were I to say Minneapolis/St. Paul - but I like to stick to the cold hard facts, as those of you who've read my last road report know all too well). The night was tepid, or humid or insert some random adjective describing a warm summer night (technically it's early fall but who's really fact checking??!) and we had all convened at the Myth which indeed actually does exist, despite the misleading nature of its name. Coming off a 216 hour layover (9 days) in Los Angeles after our last show in Tucson on the 9th. (no one told me it was okay to go home in between flights so I managed to rent a "Smarte Carte" (stupid spelling I know) and create a makeshift airport home in the corner of the Southwest terminal, just between Starbuck's and Cinnabon...mmmm, the smells were absolutely intoxicating, I actually didn't want to go home). Okay that last part about staying at the airport for a 216 hour layover was total Bullshit. In reality (what's that?) we had a few days off, 2 days of which were spent in rehearsal working on delivering the goods... which I think paid off. Rewinding, we actually had a great first show in Tucson, AZ with Robert front and center "pulling his own" as if he'd been there since day one (when I say "pulling his own" I am referring to the saying which means he was able to "handle his parts in a confident, commanding manner" that doesn't sound much better does it - WEIGHT, I mean pulling his own WEIGHT - sheese forget it). Anyhow the show kicked ass and THIS night was even better because we had our pal Joey back to fill out the mix with his unique blend of attitude and skills that only he can deliver. More...

Megadeth Drummer Speaks On Upcoming Priest Tour
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message online:
"Let me be the first here to say I am very excited about these shows with Priest and Testament for the obvious reason that it is a great lineup, but as well this same lineup was one of my all-time favorite concerts I have seen from back in 1990 (Painkiller tour) where Glen (brother) and myself witnessed this show in Toronto and to this day, I still remember a good chunk of it (I was sober at that show). So for me, to be a part of this same line-up all these years later is a very cool thing for me!!! I hope those of you who attend these shows will enjoy it as well."
