Director Larry Charles Slams Motley Crue
Writer/Director Larry Charles who has worked on such films and shows such as Borat, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld has spoken recently about the proposed Motley Crue movie and his feelings on the band themselves.
"The Motley Crue thing I was really into and I did a lot of work on it," Charles says. "I wrote a pass on the script and everything, but it was at MTV Films which then got swallowed by Paramount Vantage which then got swallowed by Paramount. All those people were gone that developed it and it got put to the side, so I don't know what's going to happen to it. Also my thing about that which was that I felt it had to be an NC-17 movie, and I thought, 'Well that would be ballsy to do. When was the last time they had a mainstream NC-17 movie?' That'd be a good idea."
"I don't know if you've read the book, but it's really a great read," he continued. "Do you know Neil Strauss at all? He used to work for The New York Times as their pop critic, he wrote the book and he's a really good writer. It's so much better than they deserve, the book, because Motley Crüe is a crappy band but he wrote a really epic book about them. It's really fascinating. What's good about it is how hardcore it is. They've killed people, they've hurt people, they've crippled people, they've done all kinds of crazy things. You'd have to show that for real and I think there was a little bit of reticence about doing that ultimately. But for me, I would do it if it could be done the proper way. If it's going to be sanitized then they don't need me to do it. They could find somebody else to do that."

Novembers Doom Cancels 2009 North American Tour
Chicago death/doom metallers, Novembers Doom, have issued the following statement regarding dropping off the January tour with Rotting Christ and Epicurean:
"It is with much regret that we must announce our departure from the Rotting Christ tour in January, 2009. A serious medical issue arose with a member of the band, making us unable to tour during that time. While this unfortunately prevents us from participating in the tour, thankfully it has come to light now rather than at the last minute, leaving 3 months time for the promoter to find a suitable replacement for us. We wish the very best for Rotting Christ, and Epicurean, and hope their tour has great success!" More...
YOB Signs With Profound Lore Records
From the trials and ordeals that had befallen Mike Scheidt (with lawsuits regarding a specific former band name), to resurrect YOB was the only natural thing to do. As previously reported, YOB has reformed and has now signed with Profound Lore Records with plans to release a new full length album.
YOB is currently preparing their return by writing new material that, according to Scheidt, will be the
heaviest and most-epic (and naturally best) YOB material to date.
As the stress of the lawsuit regarding Scheidt’s former band was coming to its untimely end, at the same time as Scheidt was meddling around with ideas for some new music (that was even going to go under a different moniker at first). He then came in contact with drummer Travis Foster and when both decided to start jamming again, the decision was made to bring YOB back to life.
Now joined by new bass player Aaron Reiseberg, YOB are currently in writing mode for their monolithic comeback release to be released sometime in the first
half of 2009.

Confirming recent rumors, New York grind/death metal outfit ASRA has officially broken up. The group has issued the following:
"ASRA is done. Thanks to anybody who came to shows or helped us out in any way. If you were into the shit you should buy records/merch through Black Box... Check out past/present projects like Vasolek, Leader, Bloodred Residual, Kursk, Moral Degradation, Feces & Blood... Whatever, The Smash Ups. More to come from each of us in the future, I'm sure. Anybody who hated on the demo shit can suck dicks. Anybody who gave canned and/or nonsensical reviews for the LP can also suck dicks. Thanks to Scott Hull for doing This Comp Kills Fascists... Truly an honor to be included on that.
"In other news, we recently recorded seven tracks of what we consider to be our best material. Half of which will be included on a 3-way split with Defeatist and Triac. The rest of which will be included on a split with another band TBD. If any labels are interested, hit us up."
