Cauldron Signs To Earache Records

Earache Records has announced the signing of Toronto, Canada's CAULDRON to a multi-album worldwide deal.

Having already issued the "Into The Cauldron" EP to underground acclaim, the band is currently putting the finishing touches to their first full length, due for release in early 2009. The band's sound encompasses all the best elements of classic metal, with nods to old school NWOBHM and a focus on stand out riffs and sung vocals.

Commenting on the band's new label home, CAULDRON vocalist/bassist JASON DECAY says:

"Its pretty alright. I always thought Earache was the best name for a record label, and as a kid I was actually a little disappointed when I found out that I didn't come up with it! But at least I get to be a part of it after all! Its also nice to be a part of a catalogue that includes some of my favourite records, like Carcass' 'Heartwork' and Cathedral's 'Forest of Equilibrium'. I'm right into it!"

CAULDRON's Earache Records debut, "Chained To The Nite," is scheduled for an early 2009 release.

You can check out a video of the band playing their track "Torture Is Too Kind" at the Keep It True festival in Germany in 2007 below or check out some of the band's material on their MySpace page. More...

Lords Seeks New Bassist

After an incident with now former member Matt Jaha (outlined in a recent blog), Louisville, Kentucky's Lords are seeking a new bassist.

An excerpt from the entry outlines the band's requirements:

"When we return home we will be having formal bass player tryouts. The list of iron-fisted, totalitarian, completely unreasonable and unfair Nazi-like expectations Eric and I have out of a bass player are:

- be able to play the songs
- be able to tour and leave the country
- be able to practice in Louisville, KY when necessary
- show up on time for tour and shows
- understand that if you purposely damage or endanger our van, equipment or anything else belonging to us then we will purposely damage or endanger your face."

Oceano Reveals "Depths" Tracklisting

Chicago deathcore heavyweights OCEANO entered the studio on October 3rd to begin recording one of the angriest albums ever.

ANDREW MIKHAIL, guitarist for OCEANO - the band who famously had a series of photos BANNED from MySpace for being too gruesome - comments on the band's first week in the studio, "Things have been going great here. Drums are done and we're currently in the process of mixing them, then we begin the rest of the tracking next week. So for now, we're lifting weights, booking tours, and playing N64 while we wait. It's still a little early to give a lot of update, but the album is coming along smoothly and sounding great."

"And just incase you had any doubts about it, MIKHAIL finishes, "We're most definitely shooting for this CD to be one of the heaviest and darkest CDs around!"

"DEPTHS," the debut album from OCEANO, is being recorded with producer JOEY STURGIS (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, MY CHILDREN MY BRIDE) at The Foundation Studios in Connersville, Indiana, and will feature artwork from COLIN MARKS (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, ABORTED, WHITECHAPEL).

Due to be released in early 2009, "DEPTHS" will contain 13 tracks of the angriest deathcore cuts ever committed to record, alongside a limited edition bonus DVD, and will also be available as a limited edition version with 2 exclusive bonus tracks. Zeppelin Members To Tour With Alter Bridge Singer?

Blabbermouth.net reports: TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider, whose manager apparently also works with Robert Plant, has told MuchMoreMusic's Matt Wells that LED ZEPPELIN members Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonhman have tapped ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles R. Kennedy to sing with them on the road tour if Plant refuses to join them for the much-rumored ZEPPELIN reunion tour. "They're saying [to Robert], 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go, here's a gazillion dollars on the table," Snider told MuchMoreMusic. "If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid. And he can sing the shit out of ZEPPELIN.' And they're gonna, like, hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in, before having the lead singer of ALTER BRIDGE out with John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham."

A short video clip of Snider talking to MuchMoreMusic about the possibility of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonhman touring with ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles R. Kennedy can be found at this location.

Plant recently shot down reports that he has signed on to team up with LED ZEPPELIN for a reunion tour. In a message posted on his web site, the singer said that he had no road plans after his recent tour with Alison Krauss, which wrapped on October 5 in Saratoga, Florida.

The message read in part: "Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with LED ZEPPELIN. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets."

Plant himself was quoted as saying, "It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward. I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects."

Page, Jones and Bonham have reportedly been rehearsing with a series of other vocalists, including Kennedy. There has been no official announcement as to whether the band is planning to tour or record together without Plant's involvement.

The original article on Metal Hammer made no such distinction, but Valo is also not listed in the credits on the IMDB for the film either.

Wolverine Posts Tour Update

Swedish metal act Wolverine has posted the following message online:

"We're back from ProgPower Europe 2008 and what a great weekend it was. It was a blast to meet all our friends as well as new acquaintances. As you may know we played two sets. The set on Saturday was basically the same set as when we opened the first edition of PP back 1999. Unfortunately we had to cut one song ('Post Life') due to the fact that the festival were behind schedule. There was also one song ('Miles Away') that we played in -99 but never recorded. We did film the show in -99 but when we came back home we discovered there was no sound on the film... So it's a lost song. We suffered from bad sound on stage as well as being pretty stressed up because of the hasty line-check we did right before the curtain went up. People seemed to like the show though so we were pretty happy about it anyway.

"The set on Sunday lasted an hour and consisted of songs from all our albums, except for 'Fervent Dream'. We also threw in 'Post Life' which was a highlight for me. This time around we had a fantastic sound on stage and we didn't have to hurry through our line-check the way we did the day before. What a difference it was! Thanks to that and a wonderful audience I think it's safe to say we did one of our best shows ever. We loved every minute of it so thank you to all who supported us that night. It meant the world to us! More...

Cradle Of Filth Films New Music Video

Cradle Of Filth has announced that they have finished filming a video for the song "Honey and Sulphur" which comes off the bands forthcoming new album, "Godspeed On The Devils Thunder."

Frontman Dani Filth comments: "Recently, and having survived the best budget airlines had to throw at us, we undertook a video for 'Honey And Sulphur' in a 22 mile long cave system in Chislehurst, South London, which was populated with all manner of females, freaks and firebrands for the duration of filming, including some of our good friends from 'The Circus Of Horrors' (photos to follow). This was another incredibly surreal day (aside from my wife's stilts breaking before her performance and seven hours spent languishing like Lilies in make-up before actually shooting any of our band sequences), one that will be remembered for a long while, despite no-one getting totally lost and stumbling into Troglodytes or a Minotaur!"
