Interview
Interview with Mike IX Williams from EyeHateGod
When you think of New Orleans and the underground scene, one band stands out: EyeHateGod. The down-toned, doomy sludge produced by this band isn’t only responsible for defining a local scene, but for creating a sub-genre movement. Through arrests, hurricanes, and unfaithful labels, EyeHateGod recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary, sharing the date three yeas after Katrina’s impact, to a sold out show at One Eyed Jack’s in New Orleans that had their followers lined up two blocks long, staying long after EHG took the stage. I asked Mike IX Williams, vocalist, about EHG turning twenty, the NOLA underground scene, and where IX came from. More...
Metallica Announces European Arena Tour
Metallica has announced they'll be heading to Europe in 2009 for their first arena tour in over 5 years. Here's the update from the band:
"Our annual European vacation goes inside! While we are getting ready to head out in North America, we're also thinking ahead (for once!) and want to give you a taste of what else we have in store for you next year. It's been over five years since we've played in arenas in Europe and we can't wait to visit again, so with that said, we have a ton of shows planned in 2009. Strap in, hang on, and get ready for the nuttiness to begin as we roll them out for you a few at a time over the next ten days or so.
"First dates up on the announcement schedule are for our friends in Italy . . . Milan at the Datch Forum on June 22 and in Rome at the Palalottomatica on June 24. Tickets go on sale on www.ticketone.it on October 18 at midnight local time and in stores at 9 AM (also local) that day. Met Clubbers, check www.metclub.com for info on how you can buy tickets in advance.
"This is just the beginning . . . we will see you on the road!"
While not officially confirmed, the previously mentioned shows in Helsinki, Finland on June 14th and 15th, 2009 are likely part of this same tour.
