FFDP Frontman Discusses Ghost Machine Project

Five Finger Death Punch frontman, Ivan Moody, recently spoke with Blistering.com, where he discussed his side-project Ghost Machine in-depth. Ghost Machine is the side-project of Moody, along with ex-Clay People guitarist, John Stevens, and former Motograter drummer, Chris "Crispy" Binns.

"The Ghost Machine album was actually written when I was going through spiritual depression, as that was written right after Motograter and just prior to Five Finger Death Punch," says Moody. "That album was more of an experiment for me and there are certain artistic sides of me, like I love Depeche Mode, Love and Rockets and The Cure. I really wanted to dabble in that side of things where I didn’t have to scream as much and I could be a little more artsy. I love Ghost Machine and we’re looking at putting out another album next year that will be a double disc with all kinds of remixes and a DVD. I love that project and it’s probably one of the closest things to my soul."

Ghost Machine recently released the band’s debut album Hypersensitive on Corporate Punishment Records. The album was engineered and co-produced by Pete Murray (Ultraspank, Lo-Pro) and draws from a wide range of influences that range from like NINE INCH NAILS, THE CURE, PINK FLOYD, ALICE IN CHAINS, TOOL and MINISTRY. Ghost Machine has managed to paint its own portrait of an electronic emotionally rich landscape while still capturing the edge and raw energy that is heavy rock. The group’s debut album can be streamed in its entirety here.

"I love that album," continues Moody about Ghost Machine. "The song 'God Forbid' is about the Motograter fans that were turning on me and "Vegas Moon" was about Steve Richards' passing, because he was living in Vegas at the time and we were staying with him. 'Burning Bridges' was written about Motograter and how it was so hard for people to see the other side of the coin. There was a lot of stuff on that album that people will never see. These are experiences that I had to live through and I'm lucky enough to be able to put them on tape and share them with people. That to me is the biggest gift in the world."

Bullet For My Valentine Frontman Talks New Album

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE recently shot a video for the song "Scream, Aim, Fire" in Australia. The song is likely to be the first single and the title track from the band's upcoming new album, which is due for release on February 12, 2008. The new CD will follow up the band's 2006 effort, "The Poison", and singer Matt Tuck told The Pulse of Radio what fans can expect this time out. "Basically we haven't tried anything dramatically different from what is us," he said. "I mean, there's all the ingredients that make BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE what we are. There's still the stupidly insane, catchy choruses. That was the main focal point of the album again, you know what I mean, like trying to get the choruses as strong as possible. The biggest difference is probably the tempo and the aggression. It's a lot more uptempo, a lot more aggressive."

Video director Frank Borin described the clip for "Scream, Aim, Fire" as "a social commentary about the facade of war and the deceitful tactics used to recruit the young men of our country."

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE began writing its second album back in January. The Welsh band started work at Sonic Ranch studios near El Paso, Texas.

"The Poison" has sold 330,000 copies since coming out in February of 2006.

The group performed this past weekend at the Extreme Playgrounds 2007 skateboard world cup and international BMX contest in Berlin, Germany.

Dark New Day Guitarist Speaks On New Album

DARK NEW DAY/ex-SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery, who has spent most of this year fulfilling his touring duties with KORN, has issued the following update:

"Well, it's time for another update on the new DARK NEW DAY record. It's coming out great. Troy [McLawhorn, guitar; EVANESCENCE, ex-DOUBLE DRIVE] and Corey [Clint's brother Corey Lowery, bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO] finished their guitar and bass and it sounds unreal. Brett's [Hestla, vocals; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT] in the middle of doing vocals right now. He's done a few so far a damn he's singing his ass off. After he's done, we'll do backing vocals and then the mixing process will start.

"Dave Bendeth [producer] is pulling out some incredible stuff from us. I think it's gonna really turn out amazing.

"Some songtitles so far: 'Simple', 'Hail Mary', 'Fiend', 'Outside', 'Vicious Thinking'.

"Cannot wait for this to be heard by everyone. Expect that DARK NEW DAY sound but a few changes that seperate us from our old bands that we felt very necessary.

"I'm truly proud of this band and all we've been through.

"I'm still out with KORN and the shows are going great.

"Record will be out early next year."

DARK NEW DAY released its debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", in June of 2005. The disc featured the single "Brother".

Clint Lowery was arrested on July 5 at the Hodokvas Festival in Piestany, Slovakia after a "wild, drunken night" at the event, which ended with the guitarist trashing his room. Lowery was released the following afternoon from police custody after apologizing and paying for the damages.

Carcass Frontman Discusses Reunion

Reactivated British extreme legends CARCASS recently announced that they will perform at next year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 31 - August 2, 2008 in Wacken, Germany. The group has also revealed plans to make a number of other festival appearances during 2008, a list which is currently rumored to include Tuska in Finland, Hellfest in France and Evolution in Italy.

In an exclusive interview conducted by e-mail, BLABBERMOUTH.NET got the lowdown on CARCASS' touring plans and other future activities straight from the group's bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker. The question-and-answer session follows here in its entirety:

Q: Mike Amott revealed in a recent interview with Sweden's Close-Up magazine that he got together with you, Bill Steer and ARCH ENEMY drummer Daniel Erlandsson last year to rehearse some of the old CARCASS material with a view towards possibly playing some festival shows in 2007. Who initiated these rehearsal sessions and how did they go, from your point of view?

Jeff: Well, it's no secret that I'd said around the time of Tuska 2006 [annual heavy metal festival held in Helsinki, Finland] that Mike was saying he was gonna try and get Bill over to Halmstad [Sweden] and stick a guitar in his hand — I wished him the best of luck at the time.

Me and Mike had started to come to terms with the idea of playing again as CARCASS. I came back from gigging with BRUJERIA and imagine my suprise when Bill rang me all excited to say he'd been over jamming with Mike and Daniel. Me and Bill went back out there around this time last year and just started going through all the stuff we used to play live.

How did it go? Well, I remember saying to the other three that most people would have killed to have been where I was sat in the rehearsal room, ha ha!

Autumn Singer Comments On Cancelled Shows

Metal Blade Records has issued the following update:

Due to acute and unfortunately serious health problems of AUTUMN's singer Nienke we have to inform you that all shows for October will be cancelled.

We will keep you updated on her situation and the planning of upcoming shows. At the moment we cannot confirm a new tour period thus the tickets for the German can be returned at the box offices, where they have been purchased.

Autumn's statement: "We very much regret the situation and promise to make it up to you in a later stage! Besides this first of all we wish Nienke well and hope to have her back on stage with us any time soon."

A few words from Nienke about the situation:

“Dear all,

I've been suffering currently from strong heart-palpitations combined with difficulty in breathing when performing or undertaking heavy activities and followed up by severe migraine and extreme tiredness.

Although seeking medical advice, the problem seems to get worse instead of better. At a certain point my situation forces me now to cancel a few shows… Being young and stubborn (and eager to perform) I would like to keep pushing myself to get on stage. Now, more research to the nature of this affliction leads me to the conclusion that I have to follow my doctor's advice and take care of myself and my current situation.

This must be one of the hardest decisions ever, and it brings me to tears to bow out right at this crucial and beautiful period for the band, my band-mates, the fans, and all the people we work with (Metal Blade, our booking-agencies, our management).

However, I want to get well again, I want to be able to give the audience what they deserve. Lately I felt I couldn't give you my best.... and that's the only way I want to do it.

I want to thank each and every one for coming to our shows, buying our album and supporting us in the past few months. Knowing that you guys are out there will surely help me to get back on my feet again. And as Schwarzenegger once said: I'll be back!!!!"

Biggest hug ever, Nienke/Ninx."

Stay tuned for further updates on this situation.

AC/DC Win Site Name Back From Porn Business

The following report is courtesy of news.com.au:

They've sung about 'Dirty Deeds' for decades, but with a younger online audience hardcore headbangers AC/DC are cleaning up their act.

For years the domain name acdc.com was held by a porn site with metal fans perhaps getting more than they bargained for every time they clicked.

But after years of wry tolerance the band’s management in New York has finished negotiations to reclaim the name and launch the brand at its rightful place online.

AC/DC label manager Sam Horsburgh from Albert Productions in Sydney said with fans as young as 10 or 11 turning to the site something had to be done.

“The demographic of the band has shifted a lot,” Mr Horsburgh said.

“The push to get it back came predominantly because they knew there were a lot of younger fans coming through.

“The young fans are so net savvy it’s the first thing they do. And there was some interesting viewing up there for some time.”

In announcing the reclaimed site the band made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the original domain: “Feel free to visit us from work, school or, for long-time visitors to the site, from the usual privacy of your basement.”

As long ago as 2002 AC/DC fans were discussing their surprise at the extreme content on acdc.com on threads like: “Was ACDC.com hacked?”

“You should post a warning with that kind of thing (turn off your sound and don't open it at work!!!),” one fan posted.

“I just happed to check that link out about a week ago on my own. I am not going there again!”

The move comes as AC/DC prepares to release a five DVD collection of live concert footage.

More than 500,000 copies of the set Plug Me In have already been ordered worldwide.

New Iron Maiden Video Game To Surface

IRON MAIDEN site Maiden Norway has issued the following report from Pål Johansen:

"Norwegian video game developer Hybris is, in cooperation with Phantom Management, developing a new game built on Iron Maiden's music and of course Eddie. The game has been awarded a grant from the Norwegian Film Fund for the first phase of development for this new game which has been given the working title Play With Madness.

The dramatic settings for this new game is a mix of the Northern Mythology gods (Odin, Thor and the others) and Maidens universe. Play With Madness contains a fantastic gallery of characters. The idea is that the Northern Gods reach out to Eddie and the band when Ragnarok (the end of the world) is approaching.

The action kicks off with Eddie beeing given an assignment from Odin, and starts his World Tour which brings him to a bloody battle between Norwegian Vikings and Japanese Samurai, amongst other things. The player will be thrown into Ragnarok with the force of Heavy Metal!

Thanks to Torgrim Øyre for giving us a heads up on this one!"
