Arsis Complete Work On New Album
Virginia's ARSIS has completed work on its new album, "We Are The Nightmare". Produced by Zeuss (AGNOSTIC FRONT, HATEBREED, MUNICIPAL WASTE) at Planet Z Studios in Massachussetts and mastered by Alan Douches (KATAKLYSM, UNEARTH, SHADOWS FALL), the CD will feature the following track listing:
01. We Are The Nightmare
02. Shattering The Spell
03. Sightless Wisdom
04. Servants To The Night
05. Failing Winds Of Hopeless Greed
06. Overthrown
07. Progressive Entrapment
08. A Feast For The Liar's Tongue
09. My Oath To Madness
10. Failure's Conquest
An early 2008 release via Nuclear Blast Records is expected.
Commented ARSIS guitarist/vocalist Jim Malone: "I can honestly say that this was the best recording experience that I have had in my years with ARSIS. Not only was Zeuss great to work with, but Ryan [Knight, guitarist], Darren [Cesca, drummer], and Noah [Martin, bassist] all did an outstanding job. We all worked together to create what I feel is the most accomplished ARSIS album to date. It's been a few weeks since we finished recording and I can still listen to the songs; that's a good sign."
Impending Doom Post New Video Online
Corona, California-based Christian death metal band IMPENDING DOOM has released its video for the track "Silence the Oppressors". The clip was directed by Andy Reale and can be viewed here.
"Silence the Oppressors" comes off IMPENDING DOOM's debut album, "Nailed. Dead. Risen.", available now on Facedown Records.
According to a press release, "This is a band comprised of musicians who manipulate the genre of grindcore like a butcher wields his cleaver. Bending vocal sounds to his whim, Brook Reeves takes the listener on a downward spiral into the depths of the band's convictions where one may be surprised to find a shining light of unbelievable brilliance. The juxtaposition of guttural bellowing and slaughterhouse wailing isn't the only thing that catapults IMPENDING DOOM above the rest of the death metal bands. The fact that IMPENDING DOOM refuse to toe the line with their spiritual convictions in a genre long known for its demonic inclinations is paramount to the band's impending notability…and your impending doom."

"I always heard Chino Moreno's scream from '7 Words' in our song 'Vengeance Is Mine'," Eason exclaimed about his band's collaboration with the iconic DEFTONES frontman. "I couldn't believe it when he was there. It was game time, man. Just get in there, wrap the mic chord around your hand and rock this shit together. The second it happened I was like, 'Oh shit, it's happening.' I couldn't even believe it. It was like, 'Wow, I just did a song with Chino.' I love and respect his vocals so much. Dude, even if I didn't know who he was, I knew I wanted that guy to sing with me one time in my life. I pictured it. I would talk shit to him, and he'd talk shit back to me, and the whole song he delivered that scream. The contrast between the both of us is just sick. I love it!" More...

Tool Frontman Working With RATM Members
The Pulse of Radio reports: TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan says that he recently worked on a new song with drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford of AUDIOSLAVE and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Although Wilk and Commerford were rumored to have played on Keenan's upcoming PUSCIFER album, the singer told The Pulse of Radio that the collaboration took a somewhat different shape. "They found themselves not working with (singer Chris) Cornell after the last AUDIOSLAVE record and they wanted to know if I was interested in starting a band. And I said 'No, I've got this other thing going on and two other bands to boot.' But what I suggested to them was that they should start their own band and have me sing a song, and have some other singers sing a song. I think on some level they agreed, and so that's what we kind of did. I went in and we wrote a song together and right now they're currently trying to record that song, and I'll go sing on it."
A different version of the same song, which is called "Mono Stead", also appears on the debut PUSCIFER record, "V Is For Vagina", which comes out on October 30.
There's no further details on the album project that the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE musicians are working on or if guitarist Tom Morello is involved.
PUSCIFER is the umbrella for a loose collective of musicians, comedians and other artists that Keenan has been working with since the early '90s.
TOOL begins a new North American tour on November 14 in Austin, Texas.

Trivium Drummer Issues Blog
"Hello boyz and girls! So here I am wrighting my first blog. I am sitting in a hotel in Tokyo, Japan and its 5 AM.
We flew in to Tokyo yesterday afternoon at about 3 PM and dude let me tell ya, it was such a looooong flight. Boy are my arms tired! hahaha! I think we were in a airplane for about 15 - 16 hours straight!! I was sitting in my seat not being able to sleep - because for some reason I cant sleep on planes - when I decided to look on the map to see how much further we had to go before we got there and it said we had 6 hours left - I thought I was going to loose my mind.
I was so stoked to get off that fuckin' plane and get into Tokyo to get my legs stretched and find some grub - so right when we got to the hotel all of us guys went out and ate some badass Japaneese food and had a few beers... fuck, a nice cold beer always makes me feel a shit load better!!
Anyways here we are in Japan once again and awake at a retarded time with a stomach that needs some food and a liver that is begging me for a frosty beer.
Cheers everyone and we will see ya all soon!!"

Terror Syndrome To Release Debut In March/April
THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen has issued the following update on the status of the as-yet-unreleased debut album from his Vancouver, B.C.-based band TERROR SYNDROME:
"I've personally made a decision to get this album out to you all independently by March/April 2008, if we don't agree to terms with the different options we have going on right now. The industry is really tough right now and everyone wants to take a huge chunk of the pie due to low CD sales (in every genre of music) and the increase in downloading songs and albums. It makes it hard for a band to make a career out of music when things are so tight in the industry. More details will be released about how it'll be distributed and such if i end up going the independent route."
"The bottom line is that we have some amazing fans in all of you and you guys have been waiting too long for this sucker to be released. Trevor Dunn (MR. BUNGLE, FANTOMAS) even emailed me this morning asking what was up!! His contribution to the track he played on is fucking amazing and it along with the rest of the album needs to be heard!!!! So, I'm saying it's time to give you terror heads something to look forward to. I'm going to start work on the CD art and everything and get the final mixing and mastering done very soon. I'll release it independently by March/April 2008 as a worst-case scenario." More...

According to a press release, the group's second CD for Metal Blade "is a timeless statement and an ode to their forefathers which lives and breathes the ancient spirit mixed with anger, pain and despair. . . 'To The Nameless Dead' is defiantly at odds with a modern metal scene that often seems to place banality, mediocrity and safety above passion, honesty and truth."
Harsher and faster than its predecessor, "To The Nameless Dead" wasn't recorded digitally — just analog to keep the sound old school and powerful. More...

Korn Guitarist "Knocked Out" By Droid Member?
Long Beach, California band DROID has reportedly left the KORN-headlined "Bi#%h! We Have A Problem" tour after one of its members got into a fight with KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer. However, contrary to published reports, Munky required no stitches for the injuries sustained in the altercation and he is taking "total responsibility for the fight," which was described as "a dumb, drunken stupid moment" by a source close to KORN.
DROID's self-titled debut album was released through Emotional Syphon Recordings, Munky's new record label.
In an early September 2007 message posted on his record company's MySpace page, Munky stated, "DROID is one of the reasons that I started this label. Me and Jamie from DROID have been friends for a long time. Back when KORN was living in Long Beach before we got signed, I met Jamie. He was just a kid back then, but we instantly clicked. I started giving him guitar lessons, and we became really tight. Back then we'd cruise around Long Beach, hit up local spots and just kick it. I helped him learn guitar early on, and he's become such an awesome player. He's also been with me and KORN since the beginning. He was there as a friend and supporter from before we were signed up until now. So it's awesome to be touring with him like this.
"Once Jamie played me the DROID demos for this new record, I was floored. He helped inspire me to move forward with Emotional Syphon. The day I got the paperwork to start this label, I saw DROID at the Whisky in L.A., and right after we all hit the Rainbow, and I told the band that I wanted to sign them. They were so good live, and I knew that I had to do this. I helped executive produce the album at the KORN studio in Hollywood, and we got our homey Chino from DEFTONES to sing on 'Vengeance is Mine'. The album came out fucking killer! It's one of the most honest, real and brutal metal albums that I've heard in a long time. They've stepped up with a record that I think heavy music needs right now.
Fans Sue Aerosmith
According to TheHawaiiChannel.com, angry rock fans are suing the band AEROSMITH for canceling its concert on Maui last month.
The lawsuit said the band's late cancellation was unnecessary and caused many fans to lose money they spent on plane tickets, car rentals and hotels.
The lawsuit is on behalf of all ticket holders.
Under the state's consumer law, plaintiffs could be eligible for triple their losses in damages and up to $5,000 if over the age of 62.
In order to contact the law firm for more information, class members can go to SueAerosmith.com or AerosmithClassAction.com.
According to StarBulletin.com, AEROSMITH canceled its only public concert in Hawaii — September 26 in Maui — for logistical reasons, although a private concert on Oahu three days went ahead as scheduled.
Because a tour date in Chicago was rescheduled, "it is not logistically possible for the band's equipment to make it to Hawaii in time for the scheduled Maui show," AEROSMITH's management said in a statement explaining the cancellation. "The band would like to apologize for this inconvenience to their fans."
Co-promoter Tom Moffatt said he learned of the rescheduled Chicago concert just as the Maui concert was selling out. It had broken all previous box office records for a Maui concert.
AEROSMITH performed at Les Murakami Stadium at the University of Hawaii-Manoa on September 29 as part of a Toyota corporate gathering of dealers from all across the country.
H.I.M. Singer To Record New James Bond Song?
According to the Daily Star, James Bond producers have tapped HIM frontman Ville Valo to record the theme for 2008's "Casino Royale" follow-up flick.
Ville, 30, was approached by the Bond team at the BMI Awards dinner at London’s Dorchester Hotel, where he scooped a gong for his hit "Wings of a Butterfly".
A Daily Star source stated: "[Longtime 007 soundtrack writers David Arnold, 45, and Don Black, 69] were in deep conversation with Ville on the night.
"They love the song that won him an award. They think he has just the right ear to write a classic Bond hit with them." After their discussion, Ville even pulled a few suave 007 poses at his dinner table, aiming an imaginary finger gun at pals.
Former AUDIOSLAVE/SOUNDGARDEN frontman Chris Cornell was the first man since Paul McCartney to sing a James Bond theme song when he recorded his throaty, epic ode to 007, "You Know My Name", for Daniel Craig's debut turn as Bond in "Casino Royale".
"They wanted a voice that fit well with his persona," Cornell said last year. "They were looking for a singer who was unapologetically male, someone with introspection in his voice but not afraid to be masculine."
Cornell cited two of his predecessors as inspirations: McCartney, who wrote and performed the theme to "Live and Let Die" (1973), and Tom Jones, who sang the theme to "Thunderball" (1965).
"I decided that I was going to sing it like Tom Jones, in that crooning style. I wanted people to hear my voice," Cornell said. "And 'Live and Let Die' is a fantastic song. Paul McCartney wouldn't have written it if not for that movie. I [also] wanted to write a song in its own universe. I knew I'd never have it again — a big orchestra — so I wanted to have fun with it."
