From Blood and Burning Signs To Blind Prophecy
Blind Prophecy Records has announced the signing of FROM BLOOD AND BURNING. The group will enter Mana Recording Studios before the of the year with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, GOATWHORE) to begin recording its full-length debut for an early 2008 release.
Formed by PATHS OF POSSESSION bassist Randy Butman, FROM BLOOD AND BURNING's lineup is rounded out by Nick Goodyear (PATHS OF POSSESSION, DARK FAITH), Jack Goodwin (PATHS OF POSSESSION), and Josh Cannon (SORCERER, AFTER DEATH). A demo was recorded earlier this year at Death N Decay Studios in Tampa, Florida.
FROM BLOOD AND BURNING is striving to take conceptual horror to the next level, interweaving the music as well as the lyrics into an album that will have a feel all its own. "I am really excited to work with an artist such as Randy," says Blind Prophecy owner James McComas. "His creativity is so welcome in an industry full of bands that all sound the same. As a huge PATHS OF POSSESSION fan, I look forward to what he will create next in this new project."
"I am excited to be working with a label such as Blind Prophecy, who gives true artist support and takes the time to put into the artist," explains Butman.

Augury Book Studio Time For November
Canadian progressive death metallers AUGURY will enter the studio in November to record their second album for a tentative spring 2008 release. The follow-up to 2004's "Concealed" will feature original drummer Etienne Gallo and will be produced by Yannick St-Amand and Hugues Deslauriers.
According to the band's official bio, "AUGURY doesn't identify itself with any pre-established school of music, but it can be fit into the extreme metal category since they favor fast playing, low tuning and rough vocals. A further link can be made with the Norwegian symphonic black metal scene for the use of classical, Celtic and medieval overtones and the lush vocal harmonies that embellish about half of the songs. Triplet feels and guitar/bass dual and triple harmonies are indeed a staple of AUGURY's music. Yet there is no keyboard, no fake vampire image and a totally different lyrical concept. Also, the musicians add influences from a lot of other sources. All members are big fans of progressive rock, classical baroque and jazz and there is a big flamenco influence in the playing."

GORY BLISTER recorded its appearance at the Evolution Festival on July 7, 2007 in Firenze, Italy to use as possible live bonus tracks to accompany their next release.

Aeternus Announce New Drummer
Norwegian "dark metallers" AETERNUS have issued the following update:
"We are glad to announce that we now have a new drummer. We found him through a tip from our original drummer, Erik, and we thank Erik for the tip! His name is Terris and he's working these with [AETERNUS mainman] Ares to get his drumming learned and tuned up for a future gig and then some.
AETERNUS parted ways with drummer S. Winter (FORLORN, A WINTER WITHIN, GEHENNA) due to the fact that "he lives too far away from [the rest of the group] and it became a too big burden to have that type of slow flow in the band," AETERNUS previously said. "It was a shitty decision to make, but also an important one. He's a great drummer and and truly among very few are so dedicated as he is and it made it hard to take this step. Nevertheless, it was done." More...

Once Nothing Signs To Solid State Records
Solid State Records has signed Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania metal band Once Nothing. The band's Solid State debut, recorded by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me), will be available in early-January. Here's a statement from the band:
"We are extremely blessed and proud to announce that we have officially become a part of the Solidstate/Tooth and Nail family! This band started seven years ago and we have put all of our heart and soul into it and this is a shining moment for us.
"Today is a bittersweet day for us. We finally get to announce our new home, but we are losing one of the founding members. Dave is moving on with his life and his final two shows are this weekend, so if you are around the Kentucky/Tennessee area and could come out and see him off, that would be amazing.
"You guys and gals have shown us unbelievable support over the years and in no way do we think we deserve to be given this opportunity that we have. So we would hope and pray that would continue to support us, and that the future would hold bigger and better things for this band. Cause there is no reason we have made it this far except for the love and blessings that the Lord has provided for us. Thank all of you for being a part of this. We love you."

Eerie Seek Female Vocalist
VANMAKT's Gorgoth (a.k.a. Tais) has issued the following update on his Swedish gothic/doom metal project EERIE:
"Since EERIE has taken a little turn in the musical deparment we have decided that we need a female vocalist that can sing at side of Tais. The new song is a little less doom and more classical goth/metal with the essence of THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, PARADISE LOST, SIRENIA and so on. A new pre-recorded song without vocals has been uploaded to our MySpace site; the song is called 'Silence'!
"It doesn't matter where in the world you live, as long as you have an Internet connection, a microphone and a recording-program, ProTools would be best since I use that. We don't care about looks, only about your voice and how you manage to arrange the vocal parts of the songs for yourself. Of course, with my guidance over the net. Sure, the best thing would be that you lived here in Karlskrona, Sweden. But I have really searched everywhere now and I can't find anyone that has the voice I want! So, now it's up to all of you out there to send me demo, tapes etc.
"Heres some restrictions.
* Female, over 20 years of age.
* Must have a recorded demo tape, or song in which we can hear you sing.
* Own or know someone that has a recording studio so that you can record your vocals on our songs.
"We have talked to several labels the past two months but no deal has been signed since we haven't got the right one. But, we are awaiting a great future with EERIE and we really want to find whomever you are!"
According to EERIE's official bio, the band "was formed by Tais in 2007, but has grown inside his mind since 2003. The love for doom and gothic/metal has always been a big part of Tais' life, and since the first time he picked up the guitar to write a song it has been melancholic tunes that have arisen. That's why he has been playing in a lot of constellations with a direction against the melancholic and melodic goth/metal."

Hatework Call It Quits 'For The Moment'
Italian thrash/hardcore act HATEWORK has officially split up. "This decision coincides with the release of '...The Actual Worst Has Come', our best-of album, which we would have loved to be the beginning of 12 more years filled with beer and rock'n'roll on stages throughout Europe," the band writes in a statement.
The group continues, "The reasons behind this decision are mainly personal: 2007 was a year of drastic changes and problems on a personal level, and some of these put limits to the band in terms of artistic direction. So, we think it's better to stop now and concentrate on what used to be just projects like WETDOG and UL MIK & LONGOBARDEATH band.
"I assure you we'll meet again at some gigs!!! Music will always be one of the priorities on our lives... Maybe that's the reason behind us taking a break, for the moment, with HATEWORK.
"We take our chance here to thank all labels, magazines & fanzines, promoters and most of all you, frends and fans, who always supported us since 1996!"
HATEWORK's second LP, "Thrash 'n' Roll", was released in 2004 via Beer City Records.

Carcass Reforming For Wacken 2008
Legendary British death metal band, CARCASS, will reunite for next year’s Wacken Open Air festival. Bassist/vocalist, Jeff Walker, issued the following statement on behalf of the band:
“Well, they said it would never happen. In fact I said it would never happen. Then I noticed no one pays attention to what I say anyway and I sounded like an idiot…
“Summer 2008 will be the twentieth anniversary since the release of CARCASS‘ first studio album. It will be fourteen years since we last played live. We’ve decided to exhume the old corpse next Summer at Wacken. The timing is purely coincidental - it’s been a long journey to get to this point where myself, Bill Steer and Mike Amott (ARCH ENEMY) have enough common desire again to make it possible. We’re finally conceding to the demand that seems to be at an all time high and doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon. Any past reasons we may have had for not wanting to do it, or thinking it was impossible, have simply dissipated in the face of overwhelming interest in us performing THOSE riffs for a generation of believers who never had the opportunity back in the day. We could say we’re doing it for ‘the kids’ - but fuck that! We’re doing it ‘cos it will be fun again to play the classic CARCASS tunes!! Of course it would seem inappropriate for us to contemplate to do this without Ken Owen, but I assure you he’ll be there, and we’ll push some sticks in his hands and make him play, plus we’ll have a killer drummer to sit in and play HIS parts.
“Myself, Jeff Walker, on bass and vocals, ‘the semi-legendary’ Bill Steer and Mike Amott on lead guitar and Daniel Erlandsson (ARCH ENEMY), filling in for Ken on drums, look forwards to mutilating your hearing.
“And if we don’t do it? Who else will overshadow the LED ZEPPELIN reunion?
“Ha!
“Prepare to rot and roll.”
Next year’s Wacken Open Air (official website) is set to take place July 31 through August 2, 2008.
