A7X Change Entry Rules On Free Show
There have been some changes to the entry rules for Avenged Sevenfold's upcoming free show in Hollywood, CA on October 20 at the Key Club.
"This was gonna be first come first serve, but the city of Los Angeles wasn’t prepared to have thousands of A7X fans invading the Sunset Strip" reports the band. So, here is how you get in - Send an email to avengedkeyclub@warnerbrosrecords.com before 9am PST on October 15th. Only one entry per person will be considered. A lottery to determine who will be added to the list will then be held. Check your email on October 18th to see if you've been selected to go to the show. Those who don’t get admittance to this show will receive special information on how to go to their performance on The Jimmy Kimmel show in LA on October 30th.
You must be 15 years or older to attend the Key Club show and you still must wear a costume. Send your emails with your full name and email address to avengedkeyclub@warnerbrosrecords.com before 9am PST on October 15th. No walk ups will be admitted. If you DO receive your email, do not arrive to the venue before 2pm.
Infernal Majesty To Film Performance
As reported earlier, INFERNAL MAJESTY will be opening up for ARCH ENEMY at the Scrape Records 10th Anniversary Bash this coming Monday (October 15) at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC. Vocalist Brian Langley spoke about his thoughts on the show and how it all came together:
"Well, it happened out of the blue. JJ (Scrape Records owner) called up Steve (Terror - guitar) and normally when bands come through town and a band drops off the bill, he (JJ) is the go-to guy that they ask 'Is there a local band we can throw on the bill?' We knew that; so months before, Steve talked to JJ I guess and said 'Hey, should a band drop off the bill, keep us in mind.' I guess the Scrape Anniversary show came up and he wanted to get ARCH ENEMY and I guess support some of the local bands in Vancouver and gave Steve a call and said 'Hey, do you want to play opening up for ARCH ENEMY at the Commodore?' That's pretty much all that happened (laughs). I was pretty excited that JJ would think of us or anybody for that matter. It seems that there are a lot of good shows that come through town that we miss out on, but I'm sure a lot of the band's feel the same way."
The show was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 14 at the Commodore Ballroom, but was bumped forward a day due to scheduling conflicts in the ARCH ENEMY camp. UNEARTH, who are currently on tour with DARKEST HOUR, AUGUST BURNS RED and SUICIDE SILENCE, will be playing at the Croatian Cultural Centre in Vancouver the same night (October 15), so to give fans a chance to see ARCH ENEMY perform live, the band's set will begin at approximately 11:20 PM at the Commodore.
But having the show go ahead as planned, even if it had to be re-scheduled, is good news for Langley. He states: "I'd much rather have them push the show back a day than cancel it, that's for sure."
Langley also revealed that the band will be filming their set for a possible future DVD.
"So far we've got a three-guy camera crew lined up. We're gonna record our set, which should be about 30-35 minutes. We're gonna have it filmed in high-definition so we'll get the best possible quality. But that's the plan anyway. We're still working out the details on that, but it would be nice to have an officially released INFERNAL MAJESTY DVD instead of going on eBay and buying all the bootlegs up (laughs)."
METALEATER spoke to Langley back in March, 2006 about the band's new album, "Systematical Extermination", which they have been working on for the past few years. Langley states that while its still a work in progress, the band have already begun working on the follow-up to "Systematical Extermination".
"Unfortunately not a whole lot has changed on that front," he says. "The album is still being written in the last two and a half years. We've got half of the next album written after that. We're actually going to be playing one of the songs off the album that's supposed to come out after 'Systematical Extermination' at the show (on Monday). It's called '4x6' - just like the dimensions of a shallow grave (laughs). That's going to be on the album after 'Systematical Extermination' - hopefully. Unfortunately seeing as we're not on a label, and we're kinda looking for a label but not really - if the right deal comes along we'll take it - the band is funding everything ourselves, so it takes a long time to do much of anything."
Lots of new INFERNAL MAJESTY merchandise, including long sleeves, t-shirts, and girlie shirts, along with their limited edition unreleased "Demon God" EP (approximately 100 copies), will be available for purchase at the show this coming Monday. (Note: The only way to get your hands on the EP is at the band's live shows, so don’t pass up your chance to own this rare disc).
The Scrape Records' 10th Anniversary Bash will also include performances by SINNED and SOULSCAR. Here are the set times:
8PM - doors
9PM-9:25PM - SOULSCAR
9:45PM-10:10 - SINNED
10:30-10:55 - INFERNAL MAJESTY
11:20PM - ARCH ENEMY

EDENBRIDGE will be supported by the 65-piece "Czech Film Orchestra" (consisting of musicians from the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Czech State Opera Orchestra). The orchestra will be heard on 9 out of 10 songs plus the intro and did recordings for renowned Hollywood productions in the past. Tyr To Enter Studio
Faroe Islands metallers TÝR have issued the following update:
"TÝR will go into Jacob Hansen's [RAUNCHY, ROB ROCK, HATESPHERE, MERCENARY] studio in in December to record their fourth full-length album, due to be released by Napalm Records in April or May 2008. TÝR's preceding two albums, 'Ragnarok' and 'Eric the Red', [were] recorded at Jacob Hansen's studio. It is situated in Ribe on the Jutland peninsula in Denmark. Ribe is one of the oldest known large and organized viking settlements in Scandinavia, so it's only very fitting that TÝR record their albums there. The cooperation between TÝR and Jacob Hansen have been most appreciated by all parts involved so the decision for TÝR to continue recording at Jacob Hansen's studio was not a hard one."
TÝR's third album, "Ragnarok", was released in Europe in September 2006 via Napalm Records.

Dave Mustaine Looks Forward To Hitting The Studio
MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"I hope that you liked the AskDaveMustaine.com site and besides trying to find out silly things like persuasion, length, and girth (and mostly asked along with non-serious questions), I found it fun to do and quite rewarding when I hear how many people have laughed out loud for this.
"However, I am sad to say that after two day of sitting in the studio, and four attempts to put everything we could think of into notes, and only Jon Kalter knows how many hours he was there in the beginning of fixing this DVD, as I have to go BACK TO THE STUDIO AGAIN FRIDAY NIGHT!
"At least I know the audio part will be smoother.
"On other MEGS-related stuff, I talked to Andy yesterday and what a great guy this Andy Sneap. I can't wait to go back into his studio next year, after the summer tours. We are also continuing to improve our sounds and made some tremendous improvements to our crew: I am using my new tech Steve MacGregor, and Willie Gee has returned to being Glen's tech after filling in for me while I replaced my last tech, Sean Erpland. Steve handles James and I, and we are also looking at a great personal assistant for me, but I am not sure we can do it, due to time restraints and costs.
"I want to make sure if I get one of these PAs that the person (male or female) is a team player and I can keep him/her for the rest of my days. I am excited about our new prospect and will just have to see how things pan out. I also need to hire a new security guard for the band and myself.
"I have to finally get rid of some of my cars' stuff, so we are going to put some of my private auto stuff and what not up for auction soon; like the stock wheels from my CLS 500 all the way to my lowered, supercharged Denali. But you already know we have all these great collectibles, and rare items at the official MEGADETH eBay store, right?
"Anyways, just getting ready to answer some SayNow messages and take my kids to school while I can, while they are still kids and while they are still in school. I also am going to try to reach my workout experimental partner, the great Nick Bowcott and chit-chat, as well discuss our upcoming work together for a column on guitar playing — according to Dave Mustaine.
"I did some great press yesterday for the German media and they all seem to agree that they loved 'Warchest' and I hope that you do too. And I picked the winner for the Australian contest, 'Are you metal enough for MEGADETH?'. You will see who it is over here later, and at the Gigantour site.
"I have to go feed my little horse 'Rocky' and I will check back in again soon. And be sure to check your cells for replies from me.
"Mustaine sez, 'Call me Droogies!' at (619) 717-2000 SayNow."
Deluxe Version Of Serj Tankian Album Planned
The Pulse of Radio reports: SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian will release a deluxe edition of his upcoming debut solo album, "Elect the Dead", according to FMQB.com. The expanded package will come with four bonus tracks, a 48-page booklet and a code that accesses a site featuring exclusive content. The deluxe version of the disc will be available on October 23, the same date as the standard CD.
Tankian said that he has written hundreds of songs over the years from which he selected the tunes for "Elect the Dead". The singer told The Pulse of Radio that even while making SYSTEM albums he'd mostly work alone. "Even with SYSTEM, I always wrote the songs by myself in my own studio," he said. "I would write the songs, and have the vocals, have the whole arrangement done, then I'd take it to the band. But I'd still work the song from its inception to full form by myself. This is something I'd been doing for a very long time and that experience really, really lent itself to making 'Elect the Dead'."
Tankian has posted a video online for the song "Saving Us" (directed by acclaimed rock photographer Kevin Estrada), which appears on "Elect the Dead". This follows clips for "The Unthinking Majority" and the album's first single, "Empty Walls".
The singer will hold a series of "theatre listening parties" around the country on October 22 where all 12 videos from "Elect the Dead" will be screened. Tankian enlisted video and film directors, painters and digital artists to each create a different short film for the dozen tracks on the record.
Tankian will begin his first-ever solo tour on Friday (October 12) in Chicago.

Satyricon To Issue New DVD And EP Next Year
According to sources, SATYRICON leader Satyr is currently "holed up in the Norwegian mountains" writing new material for the band's full-length follow-up to 2006's triumphant Now, Diabolical, due out in late 2008 via their recently "extended partnership" with Roadrunner Records. In the meantime, the band will release a stop-gap DVD-EP that will feature at least one new song from their new album, plus one live track and various live video clips from their last world tour. Leaves' Eyes To Release DVD In March
LEAVES' EYES — the German/Norwegian band formed by ex-THEATRE OF TRAGEDY singer Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull and members of ATROCITY (who are fronted by Liv's husband Alexander Krull) — will film its October 20, 2007 concert at the Metal Female Voices Fest on in Wieze, Belgium for an upcoming DVD. The stage set will feature a Viking ship designed by LEAVES' EYES tech Leebee. A tentative March 2008 release is expected,
Commented Liv: "We [Liv and Alex] travelled with our crew along the incredibly interesting and breath-taking west coast of Norway. Our journey started in Stavanger, my hometown. We filmed in sunny and rainy weather, which really shows the harsh climate of this region. We went through the fjords by boat and spent hours at the North Sea catching waves. We drove through the mountains, visited the old town of Stavanger, moreover, we did a lot of interviews, also with my family members.
"Most of the material will be presented on our upcoming DVD. However, it was also very important to gather nature shots for our special show at the Metal Female Voices Fest in Wieze, Belgium. We would like the audience to see that we are very close to nature and that Norway is part of LEAVES' EYES."
LEAVES' EYES' latest EP, "Legend Land", entered the German chart at position No. 75.
"Legend Land" was released in North America on July 28, 2006 via Napalm Records.
This Is Hell Begin New Album
Long Island's THIS IS HELL has entered the studio to begin recording its sophomore release. The as-yet-untitled album is well in progress, with the drums already recorded at Killingsworth Studio in Long Island, NY with Tomas Costanza (DIFFUSER, BEDLIGHT FOR BLUE EYES). The band is currently at Full Force Studios in Port Jefferson to record the rest with the acclaimed producer Joe Cincotta (OBITUARY, SUFFOCATION, ANIMOSITY).
While 2006's critically acclaimed "Sundowning" will be a hard act to follow, the band plans to continue its reign of hardcore force and eloquence with the new record, which has been almost two years in the making. Vocalist Travis Reilly says, "[The new album contains] 13 songs and clocks in around 38 minutes... A bit longer than our previous record, the songs are a little longer while also being catchier and heavier, but not in that shitty pop punk mosh kind of way. The drums are finished and we start working on everything else starting tomorrow. The recording process so far has been sweet and we are very satisfied with the songs and can't wait to finish."
As soon as they finish up recording, THIS IS HELL will be heading to Europe with good friends COMEBACK KID and THE CANCER BATS, both of whom they have toured with several times before.
THIS IS HELL's new album is scheduled for release on February 19, 2008. The lyrical content of the new record has been described so far as ranging from "addressing a strong internal conflict (including the choice between overcoming obstacles and self-destruction)" to "attempting to build a life despite constant setbacks and circumstances beyond our control."
Mudvayne Frontman Discusses New Album
MUDVAYNE frontman Chad Gray has told MTV.com that the band won't be done with its fourth studio LP for a while — despite earlier reports that the CD would be finished in time for an early 2008 release.
"We basically have a record done, but I stepped away from it for a while, while doing this HELLYEAH thing," he said, referring to the side project he's touring with through early December that has him and MUDVAYNE guitarist Greg Tribbett teaming up with NOTHINGFACE guitarist Tom Maxwell, DAMAGEPLAN bassist Bob Zilla and PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul. "I started seeing some themes inside of what we were doing that we could, like, really go for. I kind of pulled off the initial direction and concept for the record, and I started seeing some things I was really into. I need more content, so I can go as far as I can with the concept of the newest record."
"Ultimately, music is art," he added. "If you're creating it for other people, you're missing the whole damn point. It has to mean something to you first. We've always written for ourselves. We never wrote for radio; radio came to us. This record is a really important record — as they all are — and now I've wrapped my head around it and have brought some other outside ideas into the mix. With this new record, I had one thing I was drawing material from, but the more I stood back and stared at it, the more I was like, 'You know what? I can introduce this and this, and I can expose this process of thought.' So this thing, to me now, has become a lot bigger than what it might have been before. It might have been a little more linear. Now it's growing, and I'm really excited about it."
"Music isn't always about being easy. Art's not always easy," Gray continued. "You can look at a Georgia O'Keefe [painting], and it's right there. If you look at a Jackson Pollock or a Barnett Newman, it's a whole different bag of tricks. And to try and really get where the artist is coming from isn't easy. That's what we've tried to do with our music — challenge our listeners a bit. There's enough cattle-call stuff out there, and we like to try and challenge our fans. Because of that, we haven't sold millions of records. You go one way or the other. You can write no-brainer, 'Did it all for the nookie' stuff and sell 8 million records. That appeals to more people because not everybody wants to think or work for entertainment."
Amen's U.K. Tour In Danger
AMEN's previously announced UK tour (taking place October 18 - November 22) is in danger of falling through over financial issues, according to the group's booking agent Dean. He says, "the problem we have is that to make this tour happen, each promoter on the tour has to pay 50% of the bands fee UPFRONT, something which is standard for every single touring band. Along with this damn postal strike in the UK, and some promoters leaving things to the last minute, not all of these advances have been paid. We need this money to pay the bills and get this tour on the road. As of today, AMEN are ready to come, but without these advances, it simply isn't possible to make this tour happen. So before any rumours fly around about AMEN cancelling this tour or any other, these are the facts. If the promoters do their bit, AMEN will do theirs and get on the plane to the UK. Because of previous mishaps regarding AMEN's highly anticipated return to the UK, there has been a lot of unnecessary mistrust built on both sides, but we want everyone to know we are doing everything humanly possible to bring AMEN back to the UK."
AMEN's last collection of new studio recordings, "Death Before Musick", was released in 2004 through EatUrMusic — a Columbia Records imprint owned by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian.
Malakian — who makes a cameo appearance in AMEN's "California's Bleeding" video — met AMEN singer Casey Chaos when both bands played at Australia's Big Day Out festival in 2002 and the guitarist made AMEN his first signing.
Metallica Check In From The Studio
METALLICA have posted this message on their official website:
"The big update is... that there is nothing new to report. Things are as you would call it, status quo, consistent, constant, invariable, unaltered, unchanged, unfailing, uniform, unvarying. Pretty much what we are trying to say is: work is continuing and all is good in the METALLICA hood. As soon as we do have something new to report, you will be the first to know of course! Ok, enough of this chit chat... back to work!"

Head-On Call It A Day
The following message has been issued via Head On's Myspace:
"Mark here: Thats right folks, we're calling it a day!
No gossip for you unfortunatly, but to make it more dramatic feel free to make up some stories!. Im gonna quit the music side of things and concentrate on my fighting while Oz, Andy and Ross will continue with their various musical projects. This page will remain up and i'll keep you updated with what everyone is doing.
If enough people want it we will consider doing one final show to give this thing the send off it deserves.
Thanks and much love to everyone who has helped us out and assisted us with turning what was just a dumb idea into somehow being signed internationally and supporting some incredible bands, some of which were our favourites from our childhood!!
Mark & the Head-On gangstas"

Single Bullet Theory Drop off Primer 55 Tour
SINGLE BULLET THEORY has pulled out of the upcoming PRIMER 55, LOVE SAID NO, MARC RIZZO tour due to PRIMER 55 bassist Bobby Burns‘ ego getting in the way of things.
A message from the band reads as follows:
“Unfortunately, SBT has to pull off the Primer tour. It seems that egos are running rampant and it would be impossible for us to get on board with this tour as originally planned. SBT has always been a band that is gracious to be opening for any larger artists. We have done several high profile tours as support and have always been nothing but huumbled and respectful.”
"…however"
“It would be impossible for us to go out supporting anyone who actually calls themselves a “Rockstar” and it quotes that it is their personal (not their bands) tour.”
“We were honestly looking forward to getting out on the road with Eric and Bud from Love Said No as well as Marc Rizzo as we are huge fans of their past and present bands, unfortunately a certain person who runs the show (Bobby Burns) made that impossible”

Underoath Find Replacement For Injured Drummer
With Underoath currently on a headlining U.S. tour in support of their gold certified third album, 'Define The Great Line,' the band was forced to make a drastic decision at a gig in Las Vegas due to a hand injury to drummer and vocalist Aaron Gillespie. Gillespie, who had to undergo emergency surgery to treat the infection, had a hand in bringing in drummer Kenny Bozich of The Almost, which is also Aaron's other band as well.
As Bozich was preparing to head up in the mountains of Utah, the band contacted him in just enough time to catch a flight to Las Vegas that landed 25 minutes before the band was to go on stage at The House of Blues. While Bozich only had enough time to listen to songs on his iPod on the flight to Vegas and talk with the band briefly before hitting the stage, the band was able to perform a strong set since Bozich knew the material being a fan of the band for a long time.
Underoath had this to say on how Kenny did as a replacement.
"Surprisingly really smooth. The guy, I'm sure you've already talked about him, Kenny, has been doing an amazing job and he just seriously flew in and nailed it and he's been doing awesome. So it's definitely awesome that we didn't have to cancel that we were able to pull it off with his help. We miss Aaron of course, but you know."
So what exactly was wrong with Aaron's hand?
"He basically had a blister and he woke up and he said that his finger was really hurting and he went to the doctor and they said that they think he has some sort of rare or not rare, some sort of infection in his finger. He ended up getting the side of his finger all cut and gauze stuck in there and they're trying to drain the infection out of it and I believe they got it all out yesterday and he needs about four days of recovery and he should be back when we do the Portland show."
The band is currently on a 37 city headlining tour and if all goes well Aaron plans on getting behind the kick with the band once again at their show October 9th in Portland, Oregon. Aaron's hand injury and subsequent surgery were captured by the video crew that is currently traveling with Underoath for the bands upcoming documentary and concert film. Underoath plans to record their first major multi camera DVD at their upcoming show Halloween weekend October 28th in Philadelphia. Fans can expect the live CD/DVD release to hit the street early next year. Currently Underoath have dates booked throughout the U.S. until November 6th in Orlando, Florida.
