Slash Speaks On Autobiography Process

The Pulse of Radio reports: VELVET REVOLVER and former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash's tell-all book, "Slash: The Autobiography", comes out today (October 30). Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, explained that even though he had a co-writer, Anthony Bozza, he was still surprised to find that he had to do a lot of hard work on the book. "It was a lot like having kids," he said. "It was sort of like, I thought my wife was gonna do all the, you know, diapers and this, that and the other, and I just had to hang out and be cool, and it turned out not to be that way (laughs) ... Writing the book was the same kind of deal. You know, it was a lot more complex than the actual interview part of the thing, which I thought that would basically be it. But instead I'd read it back and go, 'Oh, no, no, no...'and really have to write it myself."

Some excerpts from the book have been leaked in recent weeks, including details of Slash's substance abuse, including Slash missing a date with porn star Traci Lords because he was coming down from a crack binge, asking a contractor working on his bathroom if he wanted some cocaine, and being so paranoid from his drug intake that he thought he was being stalked by the Predator from the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name.

Skinlab Singer Comments On New Defiance Album

Singer Steev Esquivel (SKINLAB) from legendary Oakland thrashers DEFIANCE has issued the following update:

"Well, I finally got my ass in the studio and completed one song for the upcoming release. Once again back at Trident studios working with producer Juan Urteaga, this shit sounds fuckin sick!!! No shit, I mean, after almost 15 years of not being a band the guys wrote an amazing record. And a true Defiance record at that.

The guitars and bass are fuckin brutal, the absolute best tones the band has ever had. The drums are amazing — Mark Hernandez really stepped things up, tons of slammin' double bass; the kid was on fire and it shows. Vocally, it's got to be one of the most challenging recordings I have ever done. It's been awhile since I had to sing to music tuned as high as Defiance (E 440). Definitely a challenge as I'm pushing myself to return to more of a singing style verses my Skinlab voice, which is much lower and more aggressive than what is called for in Defiance.

I'm really stoked to be apart of the album and doing my best to make the old-school Defiance fans happy as well as making our brother Dougie (Harrington - late guitarist) proud."

Ralph Santolla Recording With Deicide, Not Return

According to Earache Records, veteran guitarist Ralph Santolla has rejoined DEICIDE and is currently hard at work recording his guitar parts for DEICIDE's 2008 release, "Till Death Do Us Part", at Morrisound Studios in Florida.

DEICIDE had previously parted ways with Ralph Santolla back in May of this year. Over the course of the following months, he would spend the summer touring with OBITUARY and pushing his talent as far as it could go. When he was asked to rejoin DEICIDE in time for the recording of "Till Death Do Us Part", Santolla came back to the fold as a man possessed and he had come back, literally better than ever before.

While there will inevitably be naysayers who doubt the decision, DEICIDE drummer Steve Asheim insists that Ralph Santolla's return will only strengthen the maniacal musical landscape that DEICIDE is known for. "Ralph is really reaching towards the very depths of his abilities to come up with something completely fresh and challenging," he said.

Even those outside of the band have given nothing but positive feedback on Ralph Santolla's progress during the recording sessions. "Jim Morris came and told me that Ralph has been coming up with some of the greatest metal riffs and licks that he's ever heard;" said Asheim. "Ralph's really pushing his abilities to the limit, coming up with things that he's never been able to do before."

However, Ralph Santolla himself has issued a statement almost immediately after this was announced claiming:

"I am not, and never was, rejoining DEICIDE," Ralph told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "I have no idea why anyone would put out the statement I just read on Blabbermouth.

"I agreed to play on the new [DEICIDE] CD for two reasons: first, I owe one more album on the contract I signed, and I want to be absolutely free from Earache as soon as possible. Secondly, Steve Asheim [DEICIDE drummer] is my good friend and a great musician, I love his music. I gave my best in the studio because his music deserves it, and because that is the way I work.

"When things fell apart with DEICIDE, I was fortunate enough to land in OBITUARY. I am totally happy being in this band in every way, and the only regret I have is that this good fortune came at the expense of Big Al [Allen West, ex-OBITUARY guitarist] having some pretty serious problems." More...

Hatchet Sign With Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of Bay Area thrashers HATCHET.

According to a press release, HATCHET is "an onslaught of five thrash metal fanatics from the San Francisco Bay Area; a starting point for infamous thrash bands like METALLICA, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, and VIO-LENCE, just to name a few. Formed by Julz on guitar and Slave behind the drum kit in January 2005, HATCHET was started as the two were fed up with the stale metal scene in their home town. Their desire to create music filled with substance and driving aggression would be enough to help revive a genre that had slowly began to fade away over the years in their hometown." More...

Lordi Manager And Bodyguard Shot At, Fan Robbed

According to ESCtoday.com, LORDI's manager and bodyguard were shot at, and a fan was robbed, following the band's performance in Louisville, Kentucky Friday night (October 26).

The events started after the concert when LORDI mainman Mr. Lordi, his wife Johanna and the band's keyboardist Awa had just entered the tour bus. The rest of the group went into a nearby bar for a drink. Their tour manager Rikk Scholvinck and a bodyguard were escorting some of their fans towards the bus when a van appeared next to the bus and four or five teenagers jumped out of it. "One of the men with a gun took a fan, a girl, put the gun to her head and forced her to lie down on the ground," Mr. Lordi said. "Also one of the boys froze on the spot while the others fled away, including Rikk and the bodyguard while another man started shooting at them. Luckily he missed and no one was hurt. Rikk ran to the bar and called the police who arrived soon. In a moment we were surrounded by like five police cars but the guys managed to escape. They were a group of drug addicts that had stolen the car earlier that night, and police were already looking for them but have still not managed to catch them."

Mr. Lordi continued, "The girl that was held at gunpoint is obviously very shocked. We did our best to comfort and calm her down, but one can only wonder what could happen when people start running around with guns and even using them!"

"It is a bit amusing that the boy fan was just happy he didn't lose the t-shirt he was wearing with all the autographs on it, even if they both lost everything else."

The fans involved were given lifetime all access passes to LORDI shows worldwide as compensation.

This was a second time LORDI has had trouble in the USA. During their Ozzfest tour in the summer their tour bus was hijacked. Two of their fans were robbed on that occasion, too. "This was like a deja vú of that, once again we were surrounded by police cars and their flashing lights," Mr. Lordi said.

At The Gates Frontman Talks About Reunion

Earache Records recently caught up with vocalist Tomas Lindberg for a chat about the reformation of the legendary AT THE GATES. Read the brief question-and-answer session below:

Q: Would you say that the reunion of AT THE GATES was in many ways inevitable, given that in many ways the band finished so abruptly originally, and with a degree of bad feeling?

Tomas: That's the whole idea of the reformation, to give the band a real sense of closure. The band was simply too good to die away as it did without a lot of people getting the chance to see it live. Also this is our chance to end it all on a good note personally as well.

Q: What do you hope to gain/prove with the reunion - why should anyone care about a band who last made an album 12 years ago?

Tomas: I guess the reaction the reunion shows have been getting speaks for itself... but, I guess what separates this from a lot of other reunions that have been going on is that we all have been active since the break up in different projects and so on; we haven't lost touch with the scene and we have not got stale, boring and old...

Q: Who made the first serious suggestion for a reunion and how easy was it to convince all members to come on board? What about the members of the existing bands like THE HAUNTED and THE GREAT DECEIVER — do they support and understand the decision to revive AT THE GATES?

Tomas: This is something that we have talked on off about for a while now, we were all interested in getting it right, so to say... in the end it was all down to timing, so that the more current projects that we are involved in wouldn't get that much hurt. As there is a time limit on the reunion, it won't really affect the other bands that much; maybe even get them more attention.

Q: Can you tell us about the preparations so far — have the band rehearsed together and what kind of set list do you have in mind?

Tomas: The band is scheduled to start rehearsing early next year. We want the set list to include stuff from all our records and keep all our fans around the world happy. A good spread is important.

Q: Rumors are rife that there will be a combined AT THE GATES/CARCASS tour of the U.S. next summer. Can you confirm or deny this?

Tomas: I have no comments for this one.

Q: You've announced three shows already. How many shows are you looking to do realistically, and will you only do festival one-offs? Is it too much to hope for a full touring schedule across the globe in 2008?

Tomas: We are mainly focusing on festival one offs. No full world tour. The US might get a different schedule though.

Q: Were any serious attempts made to reform in the past, and if so what prevented it happening up until this point?

Tomas: It has never been as serious as now. It is all down to timing.

Q: Can you put your finger on exactly why AT THE GATES' reputation has endured over the last decade despite the inactivity?

Tomas: The quality of the music, I guess.

Q: Of course everyone will want to know about the possibilities of a new record. I know you have mixed feelings on this. Can you explain your reservations about writing together again?

Tomas: No new record will be recorded. The legacy of "Slaughter Of The Soul" will remain intact. It would be fun to write together, but not under the name of AT THE GATES.

Q: You've obviously dedicated a large part of your life to music, through good times and bad — what lessons have you learnt about being in bands and making music through the years, and given the benefit of hindsight, would you do anything different if you had the chance?

Tomas: I would not do anything different, because it is all lessons learned.

A7X Guitarist: "We've Made A Flawless Album"

The Pulse of Radio reports: AVENGED SEVENFOLD releases its self-titled fourth album on Tuesday (October 30), following up the band's breakthrough 2005 effort, "City Of Evil". This time out, the band not only wanted to produce the record on their own, but outdo themselves as a musical act. Guitarist Synyster Gates admits they weren't sure how to make that happen. "I think we raised the bar, and we had the mindset that we wanted to do it, but we had no clue what we were gonna do," he said. "And we've always claimed that we were this fearless band, with the utmost fearless approach to writing music, but in a way, this was like the self-realization that we sort of hadn't. And this album, all boundaries were just torn down and we just went absolutely crazy, and we really made a pretty eclectic and, as far as we're concerned, not to sound too cocky, but a flawless album."

The new AVENGED SEVENFOLD disc is being released as both a standard CD and an interactive MVI featuring a documentary, an animated short, a tour of the recording studio, a fan contest segment, MP3s of all tracks on the album, ringtone software and more.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD hails from Orange County, California.

The band launched a 30-date U.S. tour on Monday (October 29), which stops on Wednesday night (October 31) in Las Vegas.

After nineteen years, more than a dozen global concert tours and dozens of gold and platinum awards as the defining vocalist of JUDAS PRIEST, Rob Halford departed the band in 1992 to pursue a solo career immediately releasing "Light Comes Out Of Black" supported by members of PANTERA. The track rocketed to the top of radio playlists, and later that summer Rob would assemble his own band FIGHT and place most of its new tracks from "War Of Words" in heavy-radio rotation while aggressively ushering in a new sound for the metal communities.

Rare audio and film footage of FIGHT's earliest concert performances in Europe, United Kingdom, USA, Mexico and Japan have been restored. Stereo and 5.1 Dolby surround mixes have been produced by Roy Z. 5.1 Dolby surround encoding and mastering for DVD and The Metal God's theatrical premiers handled by industry giant Technicolor.

"Fight War Of Words - The Film" will theatrically premier at 5.1 Dolby Surround Digital cinemas in:

New York: November 14
Hollywood: November 20
San Francisco: November 28
Detroit: November 28
London: December 18

Maryland Couple End Evanescence Lawsuit

According to the Pine Bluff Commercial, a western Maryland couple is ending their lawsuit alleging Wal-Mart deceived customers by selling a copy of the album "Anywhere But Home" by the rock group EVANESCENCE, containing explicit lyrics without parental advisory labels.

An attorney for Trevin and Melanie Skeens, of Brownsville, says the couple won't stop a Washington County Circuit Court judge from dismissing their complaint for lack of activity on Thursday.

The couple sued the Arkansas-based retailer in 2004, alleging Wal-Mart sold them a copy of "Anywhere But Home" knowing it contained explicit language. The couple said they bought the CD at Wal-Mart for their daughter's 13th birthday because they believed the company didn't sell uncensored recordings without warning labels.

The decision comes nearly 22 months after a judge refused to certify the complaint as a class action, which would have allowed anyone who bought the recording in Maryland potentially eligible for compensation.

The band plan to mix and master the album in December and January and have it finalized by February. The as yet untitled CD will feature 11 songs clocking in at nearly 60 minutes and will offer a 'secret' cover song for free download on their Myspace page.

No newcomers to the LA thrash scene, Absolution have been playing clubs in the region for over 3 years. According to singer Dave Deroscher, " The songs are phenomenal, the production will be first rate and I think the overall album will be an eye opener for the whole metal scene. This is what we've been working towards for our entire lives."

Guitarist and band founder Chaz Leon adds, "This album will be a culmination of over two years of hard work. I am very excited. I think this album will have something for everyone. It showcases everything we are about with complex song structuring, aggressive riffing, but plenty of musical diversity as well." More...

X-Piral Part Ways With Singer and Seek Replacement

Athens, Greece-based power metallers X-PIRAL have parted ways with singer Michael Apostolakis.

According to the band, "Michael was one of the three founding members of X-PIRAL, together with Nick and Dimitris, and had been the lead singer of the band ever since. He managed to record two full-length albums, 'Poison Eyes' (2005) and 'Hunters' (2007), with X-PIRAL and was completely dedicated to the band. Throughout those years Michael not only managed to give X-PIRAL the best and most valuable parts of his own existence but also became one of the dearest friends to the rest of the band, a person that all of us are very proud to know."

X-PIRAL is currently seeking a new vocalist. "We are not looking for a specific style but we want to listen to as many people as possible from high-pitched singers to middle tone ones and from clean/melodic ones to brutal so don't worry about your style," the band says. More...

Video Of Metallica's Blue Oyster Cult Cover Posted

Fan-filmed video footage of METALLICA performing a cover of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's "Veteran of Psychic Wars" during the band's acoustic concert Sunday night (October 28) at the 21st annual Bridge School Benefit at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California can be viewed below (courtesy of kmartini311).

The setlist for METALLICA's performance was as follows:

01. I Just Want To Celebrate (RARE EARTH)
02. Please Don't Judas Me (NAZARETH)
03. Veteran Of Psychic Wars (BLUE ÖYSTER CULT)
04. Brothers In Arms (DIRE STRAITS)
05. Disposable Heroes
06. All Within My Hands
07. The Unforgiven
08. Nothing Else Matters

The set is available for purchase in digital audio format for $9.95 via LiveMetallica.com.

All proceeds from the sale of downloads from these two shows will go to the Bridge School.

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Examiner.com in a new interview that the band's upcoming album will be "heavier" yet more "melodic" than 2003's controversial "St. Anger". Ulrich explained, "Whereas 'St. Anger' was an exercise in over-pummeling the listener, these new songs echo some of our stuff from the '80s — long, epic journeys through different musical landscapes, heavier, but a lot more melodic." When asked whether the new songs will be shorter, in the four-to-five minute range, Ulrich said, "Well, the most of the intros are four to five minutes. I don't know — METALLICA and short songs just don't go that well together."

Although none of the songs have official titles yet, Ulrich revealed that some of the "silly" working titles included "19", "10", "German Soup", "Glass Cow" and "Black Squirrel". Ulrich said the names "relate to where the idea came from, like Glasgow, Scotland became 'Glass Cow'. And when we don't have anything clever to call it, we just call it a number." More...

Ex Megadeth Bassist To Appear On Maximum Threshold

Former MEGADETH and current F5 bassist David Ellefson will guest on the "Maximum Threshold" show on Saturday, November 3 at approximately 11:00 p.m. EST.

"Maximum Threshold" is an Internet radio show dedicated to presenting up-and-coming hard rock bands and successful bands as well as interviews, news and music reviews.

To hear the program, go to MaximumThreshold.net.

F5 — the Phoenix-based band featuring Ellefson, ex-SICK SPEED vocalist Dale Steele, and guitarists Steve Conley and John Davis — has entered the studio to record the follow-up to its 2005 debut, "A Drug for All Seasons". The CD is being produced by Ryan Greene at his Crush Recording facility in Scottsdale, Arizona.

F5 called in Ellefson's longtime rhythm section cohort Jimmy DeGrasso to play drums on the album following the recent departure of original F5 drummer Dave Small.

"This looks to be a very musically invigorating record", said Ellefson. "No doubt there will be hints of F5's past sound on the disc but these new songs are definitely developing in a much more progressive direction."

A spring 2008 release via Oarfin Distribution is expected.

"A Drug for all Seasons" was released in North America in September 2005 via Cleopatra Records. The original version of "A Drug for all Seasons" is also available in Asia on JVC Victor Entertainment and in Europe on Mascot Records.

"DRACONIAN's fourth album is now completed. It was born in Fascination Street studio (OPETH, KATATONIA) in Örebro, Sweden, during September. For this recording the band invited U.S. NOVEMBERS DOOM vocalist Paul Kuhr for the narrative parts of the album. The album, which will be entitled 'Turning Season Within', has just gone through the last stages of mixing and we can assure you; producer Jens Bogren did an amazing job in shaping DRACONIAN's so far heaviest and most reflective creation. The release is set for late January 2008.

"In other news, DRACONIAN part ways with keyboardist/session member Elena Andersson after 14 months of service. The band gives their thanks and wishes Elena the best of luck in her various musical projects and future endeavours.

"DRACONIAN also would like to take the opportunity to thank Yishai, Yuri and Raven Music for their amazing kindness and generosity for having us in Tel Aviv, Israel performing together with THERION and DISTORTED in late August. Also a big salutation to the Israeli fans for their compliments and incredible dedication. Also thanks to the promoters, crew and fans at the Metal Female Voices Fest for a great and rewarding experience."

According to a press release, "Turning Season Within" features "raw doom elements combined with the soft vocals of female vocalist Lisa (Johansson) and the ethereal melody lines well-known to fans of the band." Songtitles set to appear on the CD include 'Seasons Apart', 'The Failure Epiphany' and 'Morphine Cloud'."

DRACONIAN released its special "bonus" album, titled "The Burning Halo", in September 2006 through Napalm Records (October in the U.S.). The CD features three new songs, new versions of several demo songs and three covers.

Lemmy And More Attend Sex Pistols Hollywood Show

A wide range of celebrities turned out for the SEX PISTOLS private club show for fans Thursday, October 25 at The Roxy in Los Angeles: all of VELVET REVOLVER, Gavin Rossdale (BUSH), Mark McGrath, Josh Freese (THE VANDALS, NINE INCH NAILS, DEVO, A PERFECT CIRCLE), Clem Burke (BLONDIE), Phil Collen (DEF LEPPARD), Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD) and Cisco Adler (WHITESTARR) plus actors Ewan McGregor, Naveen Andrews ("Lost"), Danny Masterson ("That '70s Show"), Bijou Phillips, and Jonathan Togo ("CSI Miami"). The packed gig was made possible by Indie 103.1, Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock and Helio.

This week, look for the SEX PISTOLS — John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock — to make their debut on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" Tuesday, October 30 and "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" Wednesday, October 31. Next up for the PISTOLS: five sold-out shows at The Brixton Academy in London (November 8, 9, 10, 12 and 14). Additional shows in Manchester at the MEN Arena (November 17) and at SECC in Glasgow (November 18) have been added due to overwhelming demand.

SEX PISTOLS recently returned to the studio to re-record "Anarchy in the UK", which is included in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock as a master track. Now, fans can perform their own live version of the punk anthem in the next installment of the #1 best-selling music and rhythm video game franchise.

THE SEX PISTOLS were an obvious choice for Guitar Hero, having established themselves as the definitive punk band of the 1970s. Unable to locate the original multi-tracks for inclusion in the game, Activision invited the band back into the studio to re-record a couple of songs including "Anarchy in the UK" Original members John Lydon on vocals, guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook re-teamed with producer Chris Thomas, utilizing the original analog sound desk (circa 1969) that was built for George Martin at Air Studios, London, England in order to maintain the classic sound.

Thirty years ago this autumn, the song was first included on THE SEX PISTOLS' only studio album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" which was reissued on vinyl on October 29, 2007, in its exact original format, including poster and "Submission" 7". The single "Anarchy In The UK" was also reissued on vinyl on October 1, along with three other classic singles throughout October.

John Lydon stated that "Re-recording them [the songs] — what a stress you put on us but we rose to the occasion I think…admirably!" Adding that, "a bit of anarchy in a video game is alright by me."

"It was great for Guitar Hero to, in a way, get us back in the studio. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but it actually turned out great and I think everyone held their own," said Steve Jones. "I like it [Guitar Hero] because my friends' kids like it. And I like what kids like."

Slash — real name Saul Hudson — quit GUNS N' ROSES in 1996 after falling out with singer Axl Rose for the umpteenth time.

But the guitarist, who now plays in VELVET REVOLVER, claims he has tried to make sure his new book, "Slash", is as even-handed as possible.

He says, "This is not a vehicle for me to vent. It's not to lambast Axl or to talk shit about anybody else. It's just telling the story as I knew it."

In a recent interview with E! Online, Slash said the book will include a bunch of stuff about his years with GUNS 'N' ROSES, but not necessarily because he was feeling nostalgic on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of "Appetite for Destruction".

"I never wanted to write a book, because it would be too final," Slash explained. "The only reason I wrote it is because a lot of the stuff I was reading and seeing about the band got pretty frustrating. I just had to straighten out some shit."

"It almost reads like a journal, except for the fact that I never wrote anything down," Slash said. "It was a hard book to make, because I was pretty fucked up from 1980 to 2000-something. I really had to dig deep to try and remember a lot of shit."

Slash's co-author Anthony Bozza told BostonNow.com, "The greatest thing for me as a writer working on this book is that Slash never really gave it up in the press. He didn't talk about the stuff that went on behind the scenes with himself or with the band. To be honest, I don't think he ever really cared about that kind of stuff. But people always ask him about it and with the the 20th anniversary of 'Appetite for Destruction' this year, he just felt it was time to put all that stuff to bed and just focus on his new band, VELVET REVOLVER."

Getting the soft-spoken musician to open up for the book wasn't easy, Bozza admits. Part of the problem was that when they first met, Slash was heavily into his oxycontin, phase, "binging" on the synthetic heroin on a daily basis according to Bozza.

"So when he agreed to write the book, I wasn't sure it would really happen," he said. "But right after we met he went into rehab and was sober — or not on oxycontin, when we did the interviews."

And so began a long series of interviews between the tow, most of them taking place at Slash's home between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. "He's an absolute night owl. It took me a month to get used to daylight again by the time it was over," Bozza said. "But it was worth it. The book is his reminiscing on one part of his life, but its very much a story that's still being written...in every way."`

Sepultura Frontman Shouts Out For Vegeterianism

While India prepares to be "invaded' by world-renowned Brazilian metal-hardcore band SEPULTURA, petaDishoom — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals India's youth division — is getting a jump on the rest of the country. That's because the band's lead singer, Derrick Green — who long ago went vegetarian after learning about the suffering of animals raised and killed for food — jumped at the chance to sit down for an exclusive interview with petaDishoom.com. As an added bonus, three lucky fans who visit the site will win a free SEPULTURA CD. Visitors to the site can also read an exclusive interview with METAKIX, who opened for SEPULTURA in Delhi on October 28, 2007.

In the interview, Green, who joined SEPULTURA in 1998, explains why he refuses to eat meat and the importance of respecting animals and fellow humans. He also discusses the band's graphic video for the song "Convicted in Life", which contains real footage of animal abuse, and depicts — in a twist of karma — pig slaughterers who turn into pigs, and chicken harvesters who get their brains eaten by hens.

"You can really tell how civilized a society is by the way that it treats its animals — everything is connected," says Green, who kicked the meat habit 23 years ago after reading Upton Sinclair's book "The Jungle", which recounts the cruelty of abattoirs. "Even at a young age, it's important to learn to have compassion for [others] … to have that respect and knowledge about other animals and other people as well."

SEPULTURA and METAKIX join a growing list of stars — including INXS' JD Fortune, Moby, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, RAZORLIGHT, BOMBAY ROCKERS and THE SONIK GURUS — who have teamed up with petaDishoom to inspire kids to challenge outdated, cruel attitudes about animals.

Helloween Enters Japanese Charts At #3

HELLOWEEN's twelfth studio album, "Gambling with the Devil", has entered the International Album Chart in Japan at position No. 3.

A six-minute EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for "Gambling with the Devil" can be viewed below.

The regular "Gambling with the Devil" album consists of eleven songs (plus an intro, spoken by SAXON's Biff Byford) with a total playing time of 57 minutes and 40 seconds. For their many faithful fans, there is also a limited first edition (40,000 units in a digipak with an embossed and stamped slipcase to be released in Europe, and 10,000 units in a jewel case in the U.S.) with a bonus CD featuring two extra tracks, the video for the first single "As Long As I Fall", and a "making-of" of the video, including interview sequences. As a special highlight, the first edition includes a scratch ticket with an exciting puzzle, as described in detail on the HELLOWEEN homepage. The solution to the puzzle allows you to register at Helloween.org and take part in a draw with a sensational first prize: The lucky winner will receive a trip for two to a HELLOWEEN show in America — including flight, accommodation at the band hotel, backstage tickets, and, of course, a personal meeting with the band! There are also signed Gibson/Epiphone guitars and great fan packs to be won.

Under the direction of producer Charlie Bauerfeind, HELLOWEEN recorded a total of 16 songs at the Mi Sueno studios in Tenerife. The focal point of this diverse album is a three-part epos consisting of the chapters "The Bells of the Seven Hells", "Falling to Pieces" and "I.M.E.", which represent the ambiguous album title that thematically covers all the songs. "At the end of the day, life is a gamble with the devil," singer Andi Deris explains. The cover artwork was designed by Martin Häusler ("Keeper of the Seven Keys – The Legacy" and "Live on 3 Continents") again.

The "Hellish Rock" tour of Europe is scheduled to start in mid-November 2007, supported by top act GAMMA RAY. Apart from a few festival appearances, this will be the first joint tour by HELLOWEEN and GAMMA RAY. More...

Video Interview With Behemoth Frontman Posted

France's Hell Hina conducted an interview with BEHEMOTH mainman Adam "Nergal" Darski on October 14, 2007. Watch the interview in two parts below.

BEHEMOTH filmed video for the track "Prometherion" this past summer. Shot by acclaimed director Soren (ALL THAT REMAINS, UNEARTH), the clip is a frenetic, savage performance based video that perfectly showcases the band's unrelenting energy and uncompromising vision.

BEHEMOTH has teamed up with Glendale, AZ extreme metal unit JOB FOR A COWBOY for the 2007 "Radio Rebellion" tour, which kicked off last week. The tour affords the band the opportunity to perform a longer set in more intimate settings, ultimately providing fans with "the definitive BEHEMOTH experience". This is also a chance for the band to perform an array of songs from their highly acclaimed new offering, "The Apostasy", which debuted at #149 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

"We've toured U.S. ten times during last few years but we almost never had a chance to headline our own shows," Nergal stated. "These last few years have been about working our asses off in order to establish our name and build a solid foundation, and now it will finally pay off. It's high time for us to come back to North America and show our fans what a BEHEMOTH set with full production can be." More...
