Avenged Sevenfold Guitarist: "We've Made A Flawless Album"

The Pulse of Radio reports: AVENGED SEVENFOLD releases its self-titled fourth album on Tuesday (October 30), following up the band's breakthrough 2005 effort, "City Of Evil". This time out, the band not only wanted to produce the record on their own, but outdo themselves as a musical act. Guitarist Synyster Gates admits they weren't sure how to make that happen. "I think we raised the bar, and we had the mindset that we wanted to do it, but we had no clue what we were gonna do," he said. "And we've always claimed that we were this fearless band, with the utmost fearless approach to writing music, but in a way, this was like the self-realization that we sort of hadn't. And this album, all boundaries were just torn down and we just went absolutely crazy, and we really made a pretty eclectic and, as far as we're concerned, not to sound too cocky, but a flawless album."
The new AVENGED SEVENFOLD disc is being released as both a standard CD and an interactive MVI featuring a documentary, an animated short, a tour of the recording studio, a fan contest segment, MP3s of all tracks on the album, ringtone software and more.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD hails from Orange County, California.
The band launched a 30-date U.S. tour on Monday (October 29), which stops on Wednesday night (October 31) in Las Vegas.

Now, I've been known to appreciate A7X here and there, but not only is this a dumb statement to make, it's also completely FALSE. I give A7X a LOT of room, and their new album is actually quite lame and disappointing. It sounds like it was produced well, but production values aren't going to alter the material. Like they took the songs that the fifteen year olds liked and made an album full of 'em. I thought they were Guns and Roses ripoffs before this album. The sad thing is how WRONG I really was. This album sounds like it's made out of songs dug out of Axl's trashcans. Except for "Gunslinger" and "Critical Acclaim" the whole album is pretty droning. And that's bad coming from a band that plays guitars like these guys do.
The new album is NOT flawless. I'm sure you all will agree, but remember, this comes from someone who LIKES A7X.

What pretentious idiots.I wonder who's looking at this saying "Oh wow, I gotta get it now!"
The album is garbage. They have a song that sounds like country crap on there, A Little Piece of Heaven is possibly the most horrible song I've ever heard, and even the new single is horrible. This CD is a terrible example of the ignorant call "metal".
We can only hope that 08 will give us some more decent metal albums instead...which I personally have high hopes for.

Whoever said A7X werent humble is probably eating crow sh** now....oh wait he said "flaw-less".
I thought for a fleeting second that someone from the A7X camp was owning up to their overwhelmingly flawed discography. It's one travesty after another going back to '99 where I stand.
Nice legacy guys, see ya on VH1 with Flavor Flav!

This album is basically a more simplistic, stripped down "City of Evil." Its no where near as sporadic, solo-driven, or interesting as their earlier efforts. A7X definitely has capable musicians, but for whatever reason, it doesn't sound like they put much time into this album. And the worst part is that their singer felt the need to go political with his lyrics. No one wants to listen to music to hear someone preach to them. Overall, I'd say its listenable, but not interesting, and extremely extremely far from flawless.

Pfft. About as flawless as the Bush administration's reasons for going to Iraq. And Howard's reasons for backing him up, hahah. Avenged Sevenfold... is that name a prediction of what will happen when real metal fans finally meet these losers in an alley somewhere?
Now Playing: Birthday songs :)

I have also enjoyed Avenged Sevenfold in the past, but this album is certainly not flawless. It has its moments, I will give them that, but they are outweighed by bland fills, regurgitated parts of riffs and melodies, and those damn slides they keep beating right to death. Whoever does the solo-work obviously thinks they are a lot better than they really are, because they just keep churning out a lot of the same basic patterns trying to make them sound different without really succeeding. I'd also recommend he stay off his wah-pedal. Then there's that part with the kid signing which is just awful and annoying. What were they thinking?

oh dear, as if they havn't lost enough fans by changing, dont lose more by being too arrogant guys. i personally dont think they should wander too far down this new road they are taking, they lost fans when city of evil came out and they will lose more after this one has been heard by everyone, and if they continue they will totally sell out. i dont mind the new album but they are at the limit of how far away from metal they can go........ sorry if anyones sleeping by now by the way.........

I do like Avenged Sevenfold. I do like this album compared to City of evil. City of evil wasn't all garbage but city of evil definitly wasn't their best peice of work. This album is quite something it does and doesnt beat city of evil. I mean I think they worked harder on City of evil than this one. I was reading an article in Revolver magazine and they were asking questions towards M.Shadows. He said that this album was nothing more than an experiment... This could be why they have changed, this could be why there is country crap on it. This could be why this is not flawless. They do have some good songs on their album but no not flawless. Espically the song Dear god.... Dear god it sucked. Another thing that doesn't make this album flawless is that it only has ten songs which averages around 5 minutes and 30 seconds a song. Thats not good. I feel that in this album they didn't work hard at all just took songs but it together and sell it. This is a sell out. They didn't want to make good songs they wanted to make money thats all. I am sorry but yea thats how I do feel but I do admit again some songs are good but the album is not flawless. This is all written buy a fan of Avenged Sevenfold
Next time work harder

I've always hated these guys, ever since their first album in.....I think it was 01, but yeah that sh** sucked ass. Grade A screamo-metalcore. Then the next album after that, slightly less metalcore, more hardrock and emo. City of Evil, generic emo pop-rock. And I just recently saw their new video on headbangers ball, pretty f***in' lame dude. They're still utter garbage, total crap. Always have been and probably always will.

41. writes:
I wouldn't say they did any screamo nor that City of Evil was emo pop-rock. The underlying guitars were always either hardcore/metalcore, metalcore/groove, metal/rock, and now. . .rock. But they've since strayed of any talent they once had. The vocalist ruined City of Evil for me, now they're all collectively making this sh**.

Do you mean Savage Garden by any chance? If so then I gotta say that while most of their stuff is crap, they do actually have a few decent songs (if you like guitar pased pop). Problem being you can't really compare Savage Garden to Avenged Sevenfold because they're completely different genres. People are gonna completely conflict with that comparison. I know which band I'd go quite frankly and I'm not sure what'd do my "metal cred" more justice haha!

50. writes:
a lot of my girl friends listen to them(paramore), i think they suck ass. at least they make original music.
point? these guys suck. mr a7x you can try to formulate a decent comeback to that one but it wont make a differance cuz it wont change the fact that this is one of the sh**tiest bands on earth.

52. writes:
a7x and synester close the gates hoovers his own guitar in there asses there trying to be hardcore emo i mean what the f*** is that crap and flawless are they talking about each others c*** sucking ability? cuz there musics been blowing for years doesnt surprise me there flawless at sucking!!! and it raises a question for me why do all the good artists die overdose or get shot? why cant it be theses clowns??????

Not to sound too c***y? Claiming your album is flawless is a lot more than just c***y. I don't think flawless is a term than can even apply to something subjective like a music recording. Maybe a live show, in relation to a flawless reproduction of a studio recording or something like that.
If he is referring to the performance, mixing, etc.. and not the writing, then that is exactly the way a studio recording should be. So what?
