Bullet For My Valentine Frontman Talks New Album
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE recently shot a video for the song "Scream, Aim, Fire" in Australia. The song is likely to be the first single and the title track from the band's upcoming new album, which is due for release on February 12, 2008. The new CD will follow up the band's 2006 effort, "The Poison", and singer Matt Tuck told The Pulse of Radio what fans can expect this time out. "Basically we haven't tried anything dramatically different from what is us," he said. "I mean, there's all the ingredients that make BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE what we are. There's still the stupidly insane, catchy choruses. That was the main focal point of the album again, you know what I mean, like trying to get the choruses as strong as possible. The biggest difference is probably the tempo and the aggression. It's a lot more uptempo, a lot more aggressive."
Video director Frank Borin described the clip for "Scream, Aim, Fire" as "a social commentary about the facade of war and the deceitful tactics used to recruit the young men of our country."
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE began writing its second album back in January. The Welsh band started work at Sonic Ranch studios near El Paso, Texas.
"The Poison" has sold 330,000 copies since coming out in February of 2006.
The group performed this past weekend at the Extreme Playgrounds 2007 skateboard world cup and international BMX contest in Berlin, Germany.

well...cuz something isnt thrash or death....call it Emo, thats something we've never heard before...as far as I'm concerned, Emo doesnt have crazy solos...people get too confused by music these days, too many sub-genres...if its got crazy drums, crazy guitars and crazy bass....its METAL! doesnt matter if its death metal, black metal, metalcore, thrash metal, speed metal, power metal, swedish metal or blackened death metal...its STILL F U C K I N G METAL! Bullet For My Valentine are a Metalcore band...notice how metalcore had the word METAL in it...im as much of a fan of Behemoth, Dark Tranquility than i am of Bullet for my Valentine and As I Lay Dying...and now your gonna start calling me emo for that...?? go for it

"...people get too confused by music these days, too many sub-genres"
Yep I agree.
"...if its got crazy drums, crazy guitars and crazy bass....its METAL!"
And this here is exactly what I call being confused about music.
Hell ever listen to any free form Jazz? Around here (and by here, I mean quickly becoming the internet) emo is an insult for people who listen to crappy metalcore/postpunk/whatever bands. Actually pretty much anything people around here don't consider to be metal gets a big EMO sticker slapped on it. And if you ask me, Metalcore is a genre unto itself, not a subgenre of metal.
Now Playing: Nuclear Assault - "Live, Suffer, Die"

Oka Okay the_guy I'm aware that B4MV aren't emo, they're worse than that, they're screamo. The reason why I think screamo is worse is because that sh** makes heavy metal worse, emo dosn't becaus its a completely different genre altogether. But screamo/scremocore, bands like Butf*** For My Valentine and As I Lay Crying, are the reason why metal is going downhill. I don't think these guys are really metalcore either, but I'll agree that metalcore is metal and I'm not gonna call you emo for liking these fa**ot-ass bands I just think you have a weak sh** taste in music.

Well you know I could say the same thing back to you, it's just down to individual opinion there. As opposed to say Black or Death metal which spawned itself from metal roots I think Metalcore is a fusion of genres, rather than metal bands taking influence from post hardcore. That's just me though. In anycase, I have never met any metalcore band that I've ever found interesting bar Mastodon, who are quickly losing all corishness to the awesomeness of prog.
Now Playing: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Parallel Universe"

ughh the catchy chorus...
emo is generally a pretty stupid label, although when i think of my definition of Emo it would be a genre based on fake emotions that are dramatized. For example, listen to the song... I'm not ok by My Chemical romance, basically they yell about how they arent ok, and then throw in a couple comedic lines and then try to be serious again.
now playing - aloke dutta - New Vision

ok...granted that metalcore is a fusion of genres...as much as it takes influences from post hardcore, its takes it from Metal.....had it been from pop...it would have been popcore...so its just as much metal as hardcore . But i wasnt talking about jazz (was i?) ...ever heard jazz with solos like metal does? (with jazz they're more "soulfull")...drums like metal does? (i'd really like to see that one day)...and bass, well actually alot of metal bands have jazz for their main influence....and i have weak sh** taste in music...or a little less narrow mined?? as long as it takes its roots from metal, and has a good beat...im all for it

11. writes:
why does everything have to metal to be good? i hate blanket statements like "as long as its metal its good" because there's some metal that's pretty boring sh**.
im with cynic on this one. i dont classify metalcore as a metal subgenre either. its one of those genres that i believe has been mislabeled as there is little metal in metalcore. and ironically, there is more of a pop influence in metalcore with all of the "insanely catchy" radio choruses and simple, generic riffs and unbearabley boring breakdowns. along with crappy whining.....i mean.....singing and gutless screaming.
i cant stand BM4V, personal opinion here, they bore and annoy the hell out of me.
and jazz fusion is some of the most insane music i've heard. some of the stuff i've heard jazz bands play isnt that much different from some grindcore stuff i've heard. all over the fret board, just not as much distortion.
now playing: Amon Amarth - Releasing Surtur's Fire

f*** of Cynic u f***ing dumb sh** know it all. Dont act as if u are an expert on the subject of metal, u porbally couldnt sing or even play a lick of guitar, and if you can do both u suck d*** at it. I just really dont like U, i hope u f***ing DIE, u f***ing POSER, and yea i think B4MyValentine suck a$$ too, and sheez what kinda f***ing name is that.Obviously there not Emo but for just having that name i could see how dumb f***ing metal elitests like Cynics dumb moronic a$$ could call them EMo, i mean with that kinda name they almost deserve that label.
P.S I f***ing HAte u CYNIC u peace of sh**, and stop giving a decent band like Cynic such a bad name u c*** sucker.
13. writes:
Lol! Any particular reason for hating me? In both posts I said that it was just my opinion on genres, actually I went out of my way to do it. And notice in both of them I didn't call or agree BFMV were emo, I was just trying to explain why people in previous posts were doing so. And yeah hope you got that Cynic comes from both the 90s prog/death band and the philosophers.
Oh and by the way this is a link to me playing Mr Crowley, if you think my playing is shoddy go for it, yeah there's heaps of mistakes I like songwriting more than imressive playing - It flickers cuz I ripped it off an old video (I would put a video link but with the amount of f***stains around this place...) dubdubdub DOT megaupload DOT com/?d=N4CS6TAC
Now Playing: Teeth of Lions Rule The Divine - "New Pants and Shirt"

14. writes:
Oh by the way dip sh** post 12, Cynic didnt say sh** about them being emo, it was me:D any problem with that? i think they are EMO, so f***ing what, Metalcore, screamo,... they all sound the same thing with me, i just call all of them emo, easiest way to do it!.
Now playing: The clerical of conspiracy - Sabbat

For a start people who curse bands like bullet for my valentine, as i lay dying and whatever, your all complete dillusional wankers, you dont realise that music changes in time wether u f***ing like it or not, compare 80's pop music to know, thats a perfect example.
BFMV, As I Lay Dying, Trivium, Chimaira, and tonnes of other bands, they are all f***ing metal in their own way, regardless of what any stubborn a$$ oldie metal shagger thinks
Music changes, learn this
You will get your bands like Metallica & Maiden who stick to exactly HOW MUSIC WAS WHEN THEY FIRST BEGAN
So dont f***ing criticize bands coming out now if they dont sound as old as your preferred bands, because everything changes, have a good day.

Call 'em whatever you want genre wise but I hope we can all agree to call them sh** whatever the case. I have never been so appalled by a bands live performance as I was with theirs when they opened for GNR. I've never been a fan but I was quite open tot hinking that maybe they're a much better live band. No. I'm gonna go so far as to say I was actually offended by their presence and performance. In fact I was so offended, I think I'm gonna sue. Anyone have Lionel Hutz's phone number?

21. writes:
Really now.. If you don't like the band, don't listen to them. They're out writing songs that they want to write. Why is everyone so quick to place a band into a neat little genre, and then decide that, because it's not what they like to listen to, it's sh**? They're not ruining any kind of genre, they're contributing to music as a whole. Even if a band does suck, good! They help make everyone else sound better by contrast.
22. writes:
I usually refrain from getting involved in these arguments, which occur everytime an even remotely-popular artist is mentioned on this site, but I digress. If namecalling makes you feel more "metal" about your own musical choices, go for it, but to quesiton the talent of some of these bands is probably not fair. It's funny (err, sad, whatever your stance) that anytime says s/he is a fan of (insert popular metal band), s/he has to follow it up with "but I also like" (insert painted-faced, underground black-metal band). I don't blame you guys, I'm just saying....it happens everytime in these threads.

25. writes:
um..u can say all these bands suck soo much, but uh...yeah, they're out there doin wut u think they suck at...so y dont u write some music and blow all these "sh*t" bands out of the water? just a thought....neway, some of them do have generic poprock riffs that they call metal but it works apparently, so yea lets all rip them apart for it. sry u guys cant do any better

26. writes:
Are you p***ed because I rip on B4MV but stick up LOG or because I just straight up make fun of B4MV and can't write better material myself. Well, I personally like the stuff my band writes better than B4MV, a lot better actually, so you can f*** yourself.
Now Playing: Municipal Waste - Mind Eraser a very sick tune

33. writes:
yo ZT since when in the hell was black flag hardcore? and Frightmare, where do i even start with ur stupid ass? LOG, Hatebreed, those r 2 badass f***in bands. how can u even put them in the same goddamn post as trivium and bullet for my vocalist?? ur obviously a dumba$$ that thinks that the only thing metal is some f***ing kiss wannabe black metal band from norway that wears face paint and buttf***s each other on stage. and also metalcore is metal!!!! killswitch engage f***in rocks nomatter who thinks so!! they got f***in talent.
34. writes:
annoyed that's the dumbest f***ing argument ever. Yet I see it in almost every one of these threads so I can't even be bothered whacking out some huge post no-one's gonna read.
ZT, just like the term Punk has come to represent different things as time has moved on, so has Metalcore. Metalcore really doesn't have so much to do with Minor Threat etc as post-hardcore/punk stuff like Refused.
Now Playing: Death - "See Through Dreams"

39. writes:
Oh yeah and Black Flag is hardcore, early hardcore. Hardcore has definately changed over the years, much like any genre, but I'd say the early stuff is way the f*** better than whats going on now. Agnostic Front, early D.R.I, Black Flag, Discharge, Cro-Mags, Crucifix, the Germs, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains, the Exploited, GBH, DOA, and Minor Threat although straight-edge is wack-ass sh**.

45. writes:
LivingDead, you don't know sh** about metal, dumbass. Metalcore is a bunch of wanna-be hardcore jocks and emo kids playing music that sounds like Arch Enemy joined with Hawthrone Heights. Killswitch Engay are a bunch of homo's playing emo-core. BLACK METAL IS METAL AND ALONG WITH DEATH METAL IS THE BEST GERNES OUT THERE! IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, f*** OFF AND DIE YOU POSER c***SUCKING p***y!

48. writes:
The first time I heard Death was in MIDI form, and I knew straight away I'd love them. Then I watch 20 seconds of the clip for "The Philosopher" and from then on they're probably in my top 5 fave bands ever. Or maybe that's better said as being tied for 1st place with 5 other bands.
Now Playing: Loss - "Cut Up, Depressed and Alone"
