H.I.M.'s Ville Valo To Play A Hippo In "Madagascar Escape 2 Africa"
H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo will be in the animated movie sequel "Madagascar Escape 2 Africa." Ville will reportedly be voicing a hippo in the movie alongside Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Wicked Wisdom frontwoman Jada Pinkett Smith.
UPDATE: according to commenter Hevonen Lääkäri, Valo will be doing voice in the Finnish-dubbed version of Madagascar 2 for the character of Moto-moto, who - according to the IMDB - in the original English version of the animated movie is voiced by Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas). The original article on Metal Hammer made no such distinction, but Valo is also not listed in the credits on the IMDB for the film either.

First of all, "That_One_Guy:" you are an idiot! Second of all, Ville is doing the voice over of Moto-Moto for the Finnish-dubbed version of Madagascar, NOT the American. So the one you see in America in English is NOT Ville. The American-dubbed version has a Jamican singer doing the voice over for Moto-Moto. Just wanted to make that clear so that people don't think they are hearing Ville in America! And by the way, "That_One_Guy," be careful on what you write by calling someone a douchebag! I am a eläinlääkäri who lives in Munkkiniemi. I have been friends with the entire Valo family, (yes, including Ville), for a long time and take offense to your crudeness. HOUKKA! (Don't understand Finnish, look it up)!
Anyway, I just wanted to put a slight correction on the version of Madagascar that Ville did the voice over to.
Kitos!
I don't care if you're friends with Ville Valo or not, I'll call him a douchebag to his face. Or you can tell him I called him a douchebag, I don't care. And how is it that I'm an idiot because he's dubbing a Finnish version of Madagascar??? Or am I an idiot because I think Ville Valo's a douchebag? I'm a bit confused on that one.
Hahahha I agree! With branded not you Finnish turds. Hey maybe we could all start talking in Indonesian! I can teach you some hahaha!
Hmm I wonder if the Hippo will be wearing eyeliner? Man I'd love to gutter stomp (American History X anyone?) Valo, now every second emo kid thinks that they can start a metal band because of him and his band.
But again, will the Hippo wear eyeliner hahahaha?
For the corn husker for Iowa, the clueless one from the South and shame on you Wiggles for Australia, unlike you, We Fins actually know how to speak more than our own language, (unlike the horrible way you speak your OWN language)! Throughout our country, both English and Finnish are spoken. Why did we write in Finnish, because you morons wouldn't understand it. Here, let me translate....
Mikä idiootti! Voi hiljaa That One Guy!
You idiot! Oh shut up That One Guy!
Joku päästä eroon tämä mies!
Somebody get rid of this guy!
Kitos is Finnish for English.
Now, instead of using this comment space as a way to bash peope that may be difficult, (by the way, Wiggles, if you have ever SEEN Black Sabbath, they wore make up, and hello, who the hell do you think was an original member? Can anyone say "Ozzy" Osbourne?!? Black Sabbath, Metallica, (who Iowa claims he likes), are all true heavy metal! Yes, Wiggles, the guys in Metallica would wear eye liner. Who the f*** cares what they wear or how they dress?!? Good heavy metal music is good heavy metal music! That's what this forum is for, so get out of the little hole you are in and expand your minds! Let's talk music!
There! Is that enough freaking English for you idioottis?
Now let's talk music! I noticed in your profile "That One Guy" that you liked Slayer. They are an awesome group! I had a chance to see them in concert and they rocked! I was also blown away by Cradle of Filth! Amazing band! I'll always love the classics like Black Sabbath and Metallica, because to me, they are the foundation of what heavy metal was truly built on!
You all have good tastes in rock, I wanted to let you know that!
By the way, has anyone had a chance to see Anti-Flag in concert? I would love to see them!
Peace!
Wow! I think I have to agree with Harmaa Susi! Everyone should stop bashing each other and comment on music, (even though this particular area is about Ville Valo doing a voice over for Madagascar 2). Actually I found it kind of cool that someone other than an actor was doing a voice over for a Dream Works film! I actually got a chance to see an advanced screening of Madagascar 2, (my 10 year old nephew won a contest), and it was pretty good! I could see why they may have chosen Valo to do the voice of Moto-Moto, because the character is kind of like a mix between Barry White and Mick Jaggar.
Anyway, to answer Harmaa Susi's question, yes, I saw Anti-Flag. I am from Pennsylvania and they played in Philadelphia. I traveled two hours to see them. They were great! I also saw H.I.M. in Philadelphia and really thought they had a great concert! Despite whatever they wear on their eyes, (I really don't care, because look at Mudvayne...who I also like), they rocked! I pretty much like all metal, albeit gothic to thrash! I'm a drummer, so if it has a good pounding beat, I like it!
I don't care what music you listen to. We learnt Indonesian in school. Big deal. Who really cares anyway? I don't listen to much metal, I don't care that Black Sabbath wear eyeliner, doesn't mean I'm going to like or dislike them. Infact I hate them. Big deal. The reason we use English here is because it is an English website. Duh.
^I see what you mean, although a part of me will hate your guts forever nonetheless lol
It's sort of like how the guys in early Napalm Death grew up p***ed off becvause everybody thought they listened to Maiden and Sabbath, (since they played guitar and had long hair) when they hated those bands and just listened to their hardcore music and wanted to play it faster, ergo, grindcore.
Sorry Cynic, I'm going to have to disappoint you as well. I really don't like Black Sabbath either. It's probably just that I didn't grow up with them or start my metal journey with them, but honestly I can't listen to them without giggling. I tried to sing the song "Paranoid" on Rock Band the other day and I had to stop because the lyrics were so disturbingly emo and pathetic I couldn't keep from laughing. Of course I fully understand the impact they have had on the genre and I truly respect the trail they have blazed, but as far there music itself, not my thing at all.
Ah yes Wiggles, the delicate relationship between metal and hardcore fans... my flatmate last year was a massive hardcore fan, we went to see Ian Mackaye and The Evens play and spent most of our weekends hanging out at hardcore/punk shows (no metal bands here..).
Have you heard much of their stuff xFiruath? Can't beat "Children of the Grave" or "A National Acrobat".
xFiruath, I'm surprised you're not a fan of Sabbath with all the stuff you listen to. I've been on a Sabbath kick lately. I didn't listen to them much growing up, had a best-of CD from my late teen years and Nativity in Black 1 (awesome; 2 sucked), but when I saw them for the first time at Ozzfest, I was blown away. Got the black box (all Ozzy era CDs) and love most of it. They have some great early doom as well as rockin songs and even though I was never a fan of 70s rock, I love the authentic 70s feel of Iommi's guitars. (although the White Zombified guitars on Children of the Grave kick major a$$ too)
On the eyeliner front, I can't see anyone in that band other than Ozzy wearing eyeliner... but who cares? Comparing what someone does now to what someone did in the 70s are two different things anyway. Cant say I'm into any eyeliner wearing bands these days and can't stand the image.
I actually don't own any of the Black Sabbath albums, so maybe I should go out and get one and just listen to it for a few days to let it sink in more, but based on what I've heard on the radio or when other people where playing it I just don't think it is a good fit for me. This may sound elitist and even a little hypocritical, but I sort of view bands like Black Sabbath/Metallica/Megadeth as the "NES" days of metal, while stuff like Opeth and Peccatum is the XBOX 360. I appreciate that the groundwork was laid before, and I know that without those bands I couldn't have my beloved Therion or Dimmu Borgir, but I don't see much of a point in going back to them unless I'm feeling a little nostalgic. Now obviously the metaphor doesn't work perfectly, as there are plenty of old games that still kick a$$ and take names (I play Chrono Trigger regularly but I still don't own a single Halo game) but you get the idea.
I guess I also came into classic metal bands in a weird way as well. For example I heard the Moonspell version of "Mr. Crowley" long before I ever heard the original, and the first real metal band I ever heard was Samael, followed by stuff like Opeth and Destiny's End. So I kind of got spoiled when it came to expecting super high quality music that blends many different sounds together and has contemplative lyrics that can't always be taken at face value.
Ha, yeah between being slammed with work for my day job and trying to keep things running on MU, I'm not left with much time for keeping up with all the conversations and commenting. I useually get in on the conversations early and don't try to keep up with the 100+ threads unless I'm alerted to something in there by a user or admin.
It's hard to make a Sabbath recomendation really. I think my favorites are Paranoid, Master Of Reality, Black Sabbath, and Vol 4. (in that order) but I don't think they really have any one doomy album, altho I've been making my own mix from the box set.
My bday fun started the minute I woke up all the way till I passed out drunk! I am still smitten by all the bday wishes I got and am so greatful to be alive! Could have not asked for a better day!
Wiggles, I shall check em out when they hit the states if I can. Might you know when they plan on doing so?
For posting a while back to that whole wierd finnish thing: It's not that we don't like finland, we just don't like the band H.I.M. I'm not about to tell Villie to go suck one, but there ARE much better Finnish bands out there (Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Ensiferum).
Kazae: I want to go to New Zealand!
I need some(good)harcore. Do you or wiggles have any good suggestions for me?
Confession are good. Hardcore started in the early 80's. Pretty much faster, more aggressive punk music. With more meaningful lyrics. Metalcore is the result of a drunken backseat gropefest between metal and hardcore hahahaha. I can be bothered explaining anymore than the very basics. Just go look, listen and learn for yourself. Society seems to have lost that ability.
Hahaha, I love how I make one comment about Ville Valo and all these Finnish people crawl out of the woodwork to degrade me because I don't speak Finnish. And besides, douchebags, I do speak more than one language, but Finnish just doesn't happen to be the other one. So learn before you go opening your big fat mouths. And don't ever call me a f***ing corn husker, you f***tards. I'm not some redneck piece of sh** white trash a$$hole like most of your midwest stereotypes. So shut the f*** up until you educate yourselves.
Now playing: Death - "Scavenger of Human Sorrow"
gasp I just checked the Ip logs too! it turns out posts 69 and 70 are the same damn person too! creepy....
the difference that I see between Hardore and metalcore, is that, like wiggles said, hardcore is basically heavier and faster punk music, while metalcore is basically just watered down metal that stole breakdowns from hardcore music.
Listen to bands like Hatebreed and Sworn Enemy, then listen to Unearth or Chimaira, you'll see a differnce. Hardcore bands, as I've heard them, lean towards having a powerful heavy overall sound, while metalcore tries to follow the same objective, but trying to sound more complex, so it loses a lot of the base heaviness that that it stole from hardcore music.
then again, I have no real idea what I'm talking about, just an educated guess. If you want a real answer, just go to wikipedia or something. lol
Now Playing: Mudvayne- Forget to remember
ahh alritey, from the basis of reading atreyu and bullet lyrics, their pretty meaningful.... TO A BUNCH OF PANSIES WHO CANT GET OVER A f***ING BREAKUP lolz >_>
i just checked out hatebreed, sworn enemy and terror, bloody awesome sh**!
but imho i still prefer thrash, tho hardcore is pretty damn good and starting to grow on me ^_^
atreyu are pretty gay lol f*** man to the dudes wanting mean aus and nz hardcore get the trial and error records samplers, it will melt you f***ing face ! and metalheaddrummer101 nz is kick a$$ but if you want mean hardcore def aus all the hardcore bands here are braking up and forming grindcore and metalcore bands so sh**
That_One_Guy you are the most vile peice of sh**. You bag out an entire culture based on your dislike for one man and his band, you bag out an entire culture because a few people stood up to you, you INSULT an entire culture that you know nothing about because you are an Arrogant, Ignorant, AMERICAN PIG. The Finnish are amongst the smartest people in the world, America however is severely lacking in IQ points. So pull your head out of your arse you arrogant twat and do something useful with your life instead of insulting People you know nothing about.
Yeah 'f***_A_Name', I know Hypocritical I don't usually go around insulting people on the internet, I do have a life unlike him, infact with his first couple of comments I was just going to let it go, its obvious what a twat he is but the last comment I think he just went to far. He insulted an entire culture based on his dislike for one person. I insulted Americans based on many thing but I know that not everyone over there is stupid, just people like him which there seem to be a lot of.
Actually, I wasn't insulting Finland at all. I like a lot of Finnish music, and the culture. I was simply insulting one choice person from Finland who's trying to start some stupid flame war with me over the internet because I don't care for Ville Valo or H.I.M. (read as His Impotent Mediocrity). I wasn't even insulting you, Belle, so stay off my back. And really, get to know me before you call me arrogant, ignorant, or a pig. You'll find that I'm none of those, really.
And besides, you seem a bit hypocritical there, Belle. You're calling many, many Americans arrogant, ignorant pigs based on nothing. Who's the pig now?
And Cynic, yeah, I know you said it way back in post 13, I just don't have time to read every single post, so forgive me on that one, lol.
Now playing: Megadeth - "Holy Wars.. Punishment Due"
I think the whole world sucks ass! Haha! Some of you mentioned Meshuggah, you folks should please please pleeeeeease check out After the Burial. They're like 12 times better than Meshuggah. With all do respect of course, they are 2 totally different demons but I love After the burial much more. Even though Obzen is freakin sweet. Oh, and Villa Vallo is sooooooooo gaaaaaaaayyyy! Aharrrrrrrr!
NP: Bleeding Through-Sister Charlatan
Super late response since I am just reading through this comment page - but I can't ENOUGH of Black Sabbath..they are freakin' amazing. I also like Electric Wizard. It is called stoner/sludge metal but their dark sound is heavy (emotionally) more than heavy in a musical sense. The duo of Geezer Butler and Iommi are just unreal. Hell ya - I love Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell. Wow - that is probably the first time that Cynic and I have agreed on anything. I truly don't give a SHXT about H.I.M., though. On the other hand, it is cool to chat with some real Finns(Finland people) on here.
