Cream Bassist Insults Led Zeppelin

The Classic Rock Awards last night played host to a number of honours bestowed upon legendary bands and Cream was no exception. The legendary blues rockers picked up the award for Classic Album with "Disraeli Gears" but bassist Jack Bruce had a few choice words for Led Zeppelin. An excerpt from a quick-fire interview reads as follows:

Classic Rock: The Million Dollar Question, Are Cream going to do anything again?

Bruce: Oh yeah, I’m sure we will. But we’ll have Todd Rundgren [who’s just walked by] in the band by then.

Classic Rock: It’s good news that there might be more from Cream.

Bruce: Well, the trouble is that I’m doing so many amazing things on my own. Cream is just a band from many, many years ago, and we did do something [referring to the reunion shows in 2005]… Everybody talks about Led Zeppelin, and they played one fucking gig – one fucking lame gig – while Cream did weeks of gigs; proper gigs, not just a lame gig like Zeppelin did, with all the [vocal] keys lowered and everything. We played everything in the original keys. [Becoming animated]: Fuck off, Zeppelin, you’re crap. You’ve always been crap and you’ll never be anything else. The worst thing is that people believe the crap that they’re sold. Cream is 10 times the band that Led Zeppelin is.

Classic Rock: That’s a bold opinion.

Bruce: What? You’re gonna compare Eric Clapton with that fucking Jimmy Page? Would you really compare that?

Classic Rock: To be fair, they’re different kinds of player, aren’t they?

Bruce: No! Eric’s good and Jimmy’s crap. And with that I rest my case.

Warrant Drummer Steven Sweet Checks In

Warrant drummer Steven Sweet has checked in with the following update:

"I am beginning to run out of fresh and exciting ways to make the travel experience seem interesting, enticing, and extraordinary to those of you who may not travel so much (and to those of you who do), but I will do my best... here goes.

"Joey and I embarked upon our journey to Tyler, Texas, located near the North Eastern border of the state as you approach Louisiana heading Eastward, a few days early to soak in a bit of the local culture, shake a few hands, and eat some Mexican, Italian and Cajun (food, not the people). Here are a few 'fun facts' about Tyler: Tyler is a city and in the county seat of Smith County, Texas in the United States. The city is named for President John Tyler in recognition of his support for Texas's admission to the United States. The 2000 census recorded the city's population to be 83,650, while in 2008 it was estimated to have reached 108,772 (at least half were in attendance the night of the show). Tyler has been nicknamed the 'Rose Capital of America' because of its large role in the rose-growing industry; about 20% of commercial rose bushes (he said 'bushes' heh, heh!) produced in the U.S. are grown in Tyler and Smith County and more than half of the bushes are packaged and shipped from the area. It boasts the nation's largest municipal rose garden and hosts the Texas Rose Festival each October, which draws more than 100,000 spectators.

"Important note: remember, Every Rose Has Its Thorn... thanks Bret! More...

Cannibal Corpse Reveals New Album Title

Death metal legends Cannibal Corpse has announced that their new studio album will be entitled, "Evisceration Plague" and that it will be released on February 3rd.

Bassist Alex Webster states: "In Cannibal Corpse, our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit morechallenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album, "Kill," but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at the same level of heaviness and take it even further. Now that we can hear the finished product, I would say we've been able to achieve this goal and I think our fans will agree. "Evisceration Plague" has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded and the entire band has never played with more precision and power. We can't wait until you all get a chance to hear the album in early 2009, because we think you'll be as happy with it as we are."

The tracklisting for "Evisceration Plague" is as follows:

1. Priests Of Sodom
2. Scalding Hail
3. To Decompose
4. A Cauldron Of Hate
5. Beheading And Burning
6. Evidence In The Furnace
7. Carnivorous Swarm
8. Evisceration Plague
