Black Tide Replaces Guitarist Alex Nuñez

Black Tide bassist Zakk Sandler has issued an update explaining why guitarist Alex Nuñez left the band earlier this year.

"Alex had different ideas as to the direction that we are going and wasn't happy with the style," writes Sandler. "We made a mutual decision and felt that it would be best if we changed members now instead of years later and avoided stupid amounts of drama. He is still a close friend and we wish him all the luck in the world toward future endeavours.

"We have our very close friend Austin Diaz playing guitar for us; he is a great new addition to our group and a nice breath of fresh air to the dynamic that is Black Tide," he adds. "We hope you all love and welcome him as much as we do."

Algaion Reunites and Signs To Pulverised Records

After a great long decade of silence, Swedish melodic black metal band ALGAION has reunited and preparations for a new full-length album are underway.

Previously busy on his stint with other bands (Hypocrisy, Pain, etc) and also currently in Swedish power metal band Morifade, Mathias Kamijo decided that it was time to resurrect the ghost of ALGAION and brought it back to life in 2008 together with founding member Mårten Björkman.

New blood has since joined the ALGAION camp, with current members from Corporation 187, Viktor Klint and Robert Eng, contributing on guitars and drums respectively, and Tobias Leffler (previously in Vergelmer and N.C.O) on bass.

Pulverized Records commented on the signing: "It is our great pleasure to have ALGAION join the ranks of the Pulverised Records roster; we are very excited and definitely look forward to a great working releationship with such a veteran class act!"

ALGAION is:

Mathias Kamijo - Guitars
Mårten Björkman - Vocals

Jones revealed last month that the former Led Zeppelin stars planned to tour minus their frontman after ROBERT PLANT ruled himself out of any further performances.

The revelation caused many fans to speculate whether the trio would be called Led Zeppelin or go by another name.

When asked about the collaboration, an unnamed spokesperson for Page’s management company, Qprime, told Rolling Stone: “Whatever this is, it is not Led Zeppelin. Not without the involvement of Robert Plant.”

Satan's Classic Debut Album To Be Reissued

Metal Mind Productions has announced the reissued of NWOBHM power thrash band Satan's debut release, "Court In The Act."

Satan is one of the most important groups that emerged in the early NWOBHM era. Their unique mixture of heavy and power metal spirit with thrash riffage brought a handful of unforgettable tunes and revolutionized heavy music as we know it. "Court in the Act" is their debut release and in the same time their highlight, containing ten tracks (including the intro) and over 40 minutes of music that was absolutely groundbreaking for a 1983 release. Satan managed to come up with a sound that was way ahead of their own time. The songs were melodic, but in the same time very aggressive – a sign of an upcoming revolution. Both guitarists, Russ Tippins and Steve Ramsey, delivered an amazing performance – although their styles were completely different, the duo managed to perfectly balance their playing and introduce a handful of timeless riffs and solos. The best example of the band's impressive guitar virtuosity can be heard in the sharp and heavy tune "Break Free," which features a dazzling 3-minute solo. Other highlights include the intensive "No Turning Back," the atmospheric "Alone in the Docks," and the epic instrumental track "Ritual."

"Court in the Act" remains one of Satan's best releases, as well as one of the most unappreciated – even though the album hit the stores immediately before the thrash metal explosion, being somewhat a pioneer on the scene, it failed to gain the proper popularity it deserved. Most critics claim that this LP was just a bit too much for the average listener in 1983, when even such bands as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden played music nowhere near as dynamic and aggressive as Satan.

Now, thanks to this exclusive re-edition of "Court in the Act", you can once again experience one of the best releases in the history of metal. The new digipack edition includes 3 bonus tracks and is digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc, and limited to numerated 1000 copies. Metal Mind Productions will release the album on November 24th in Europe and January 20, 2009 in the USA (via MVD).

Here is the tracklisting for Satan's reissue of "Court In The Act": More...
