Chris Cornell Denies Led Zeppelin Rumours
MTV News has issued the following report from Chris Harris:
Former SOUNDGARDEN and AUDIOSLAVE frontman CHRIS CORNELL has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for ROBERT PLANT on a proposed LED ZEPPELIN reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist JIMMY PAGE, original bassist JOHN PAUL JONES and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham.
Cornell has been mentioned - along with FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, former VAN HALEN frontman SAMMY HAGAR, WHITE STRIPES mastermind Jack White and ALTER BRIDGE's Myles Kennedy - as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour.
"I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour."

Orange County punk metallers, Death By Stereo, have revealed the details of their long-awaited new studio album. Efrem also mentioned some additional details:
"We recorded it with Jason Freese (Green Day) and Jay Baumgardner who has done just about every rad record under the sun! We are so pumped, it blows all the records we've ever done away!"

Lamb Of God Sets Release Date For New Album
LAMB OF GOD will release their fifth studio album, entitled "Wrath," on February 24th, 2009. The record will be released in North America by Epic and will be the first release with their new label Roadrunner outside of North America. WRATH is produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire.
LAMB OF GOD finished the touring cycle on the Grammy nominated album "Sacrament" at the end of 2007. The two-year trek was documented in the now certified Gold DVD "Walk with Me in Hell" and culminated with the band headlining arenas across the US last December.
The band has taken the entirety of 2008 off the road to focus on the writing process for "Wrath."
"This album is going to surprise a lot of people," comments drummer Chris Adler. "Typically bands that get to where we are in our career begin to slack off, smell the roses and regurgitate. We chose a different path. No one wants to hear another band member hyping a new record. WRATH needs no hype. We have topped ourselves and on February 24th you will feel it."
As always, LAMB OF GOD will embark on an extensive tour that will cover the globe. As previously announced, the band will be supporting Metallica on the December leg of their tour. The first leg of the WRATH world tour will start in Finland on February 6th and will encompass dates in the UK, Australia, and Japan.

Deep Purple Guitarist Posts Tour Report
Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse has posted the following report from the bands European tour:
"Some notes from a few days ago:
"Today brings back a little reality, we're in an airport waiting area for an airline flight. We've had a wonderful week or so travelling to Siberia and back to Moscow in a Tupelov 134. In the last notes I wrote about the flight attendant sternly saying 'ticofi' to let you know that you are being offered tea or coffee. This time she came up to me and said 'nowcockpit', which is something I always enjoy, as long as I feel like I'm not distracting the guys up front from flying. They were very warm and friendly, and even though we had very few words in common, they more or less understood my general comments. They more or less insisted that I sit down in the first officer's seat and get some photos. It was very warm and smoky up there since there were always several cigarettes going. Without getting anyone in trouble, I can only say that now I have a much better idea of what it would be like to do a takeoff and climbout in a plane exactly like that. After a while when the autopilot was on, I asked if I could see the navigator's station. You see, the Tu-134 has a glass nose, made up of lots of small windshield pieces in the very front part of the nose, about where we would expect the weather radar and radome to be. People instantly assume that the glass nose (on an airliner!) is for a bombardier or something like that, since the flying fortress of WWII looked that way for the nose gunner. But the navigator is a dedicated crew member that does nothing but navigation, like on a submarine. So he can look down for deduced reckoning ("ded" reckoning........not dead reckoning) waypoints, look up for basic celestial navigation, and he has a dedicated workstation down there with access to all the controls, as well as the 1st officer's directional gyro, as I found out!
"Anyway, I had a blast, they gave me a gift of a "Russian GPS" which was the time/speed slide-rule that the navigator used, and one of pilots gave me his flight officer's uniform hat. All Russian uniform hats are huge, and I hope this one makes if home looking similar after being bounced around in my suitcase for 100 or so handlings. I sure do feel right at home with most every crew we have ever had the pleasure of hanging around with. More...
