Chimaira Issues Recording Update
Chimaira guitarist Robb Arnold has issued the following recording update:
"Things are going well here at the ol’ studio. Today I finished working on the fifth of fourteen songs we’re recording, and Matt is working on number six right now. My opinion on how things are sounding is….”HUGE”. You really never fully understand how technically demanding a riff is until you try to lay it down for good. A lot of this stuff is hard man- but totally catchy at the same time. I think it was Mr. Eddie Van Halen who once said, “Man I wish we could tour first, and then record the record”! And thats because after you’ve been on the road month after month, playing the songs over and over again, you’re always much better at them individually, and as a band, then you are when you record them. But oh well… we’re trying our best here, and I think everyone is going to appreciate it come April."

Kerry King Explains The Future Of Slayer
The Quietus has issued the following report from John Doran:
While interviewing Kerry King for a Pulling Focus feature in The Stool Pigeon music paper, we were party to some very interesting news indeed. That SLAYER have another two albums left in them. At least.
Earlier this year singer/bassist with the thrash metal titans, Tom Araya, told Superman's Dad Jor El McIver, a music journalist writing for Thrash Hits that he found the idea of 50-year-old men headbanging "cringe" worthy: "Seeing a 50-year-old man headbanging on stage would make me cringe. If I was watching that, I’d think, ‘Dude, you’re a little too old for that, aren’t you? You’re gonna fall off!’" This was taken to mean that the band, all in their mid to late 40s, only had one album left to release. More...

Cream Bassist Clarifies His Led Zeppelin Comments
Cream bassist recently did a radio interview in which he clarified what he meant by the remarks regarding Led Zeppelin he made at the Classic Rock Awards on monday night:
"I was just having some fun with the press gallery really... being fairly tongue in cheek... The thing about Zeppelin is obviously it's a little bit of jealousy on my part or more than a little bit because the audience was created by Cream and JIMI HENDRIX… this sort of very large audience... then Zeppelin came along and had a very easy ride in that way. We were the pioneers and pioneers don’t always get the recognition they deserve. On the other hand, let’s face it: Jimmy Page ain’t no Eric Clapton... no matter what anybody thinks.”
He also had this to say (jokingly) about Zeppelin:
“The only decent guy... the one good guy in that band is dead... so what are you gonna do? The trouble is if you say anything about the establishment... In Britain you mustn’t criticize the Queen or Led Zeppelin.”

Mezzerschmitt Mastermind In Accident
According to MZZR Empire spokesman Hans W. Jung, MEZZERSCHMITT's mastermind Herr Schmitt has been remotely injured during an attack alleged to stop the scheduled and annual conference held by MZZR's umbrella organisation SWIRFT just outside Kharkov, Ukraine, on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Herr Schmitt was invited to hold his annual speech and also to demonstrate the new surveillance "cubes" developed by SWIRFT when the attack occurred. There is as of now no further info on what happened or who seems to be responsible for the attack, but in an interview done by a local paper Hans W. Jung accordingly stated that "it was total chaos. I am just glad we managed to escape". On questions directed to Herr Schmitt's current state and the effect this has on the forthcoming album, he quickly replied that "nothing really serious happened but it is a setback of course. The recordings will take place, albeit slightly delayed".
MEZZERSCHMITT are set to record their upcoming album early next year for a late 2009 release.
Metal Musicians React To Barack Obama Victory
History was made last night as the United States of America elected their first African-American President, Barack Hussein Obama. Over the past few months, musicians from all spectrums have been voicing their opinion over the historic race for presidency. Many of the same musicians have now voiced their opinion on the victory for the Democrats:
Sacred Reich frontman Phil Rind states: "It's over. The election has been decided. The American people have spoken loud and clear, and Barack Obama will be our next President. Many have waited eight long years for this day. We have suffered through two dissapointing and suspiscious elections. We have watched while Bush has made disasterous decisions, ruined the lives of millions of citizens, put our fighting men and women in harms way over a lie, and tarnished the image of America around the world.
"We have witnessed a historic moment when the spirit of the promise of America has been renewed. That Barack Hussien Obama was elected President of the United States is a testament to what is possible. That we had an opportunity to right our course, and that Americans overwhelmingly voted for change should bolster our hope for the future.
"We do not know what the fututre holds. There is a steep uphill battle to be fought to right the wrongs of our recent Presidential administration. But today we should be proud that a new spirit of hopefullness has replaced the cynicsm of our recent history. We should move forward together and write a new page in the ever changing landscape of Ameirica." More...

AC/DC Day Announced In Vancouver
Stuart Derdeyn from The Province is reporting:
Listeners to the Jeff O'Neil Show on 99.3 The FOX (CFOX-FM) Tuesday were surprised to hear none other than Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan co-hosting the open-phones segment of the show and announcing an upcoming official proclamation that November 28 is AC/DC Day in Terminal City.
Introduced as Sam 'Frickin' Sullivan, the mayor opened the segment declaring that he is re-forming SPINAL CHORD, the band that first brought him into the public eye prior to his involvement in civic politics. He was joking -- "maybe."
"I said it tongue-in-cheek to some of the interviewers on the radio," he told The Province later. "But, hey, why not?"
