Metal Musicians React To Barack Obama Election Victory

History was made last night as the United States of America elected their first African-American President, Barack Hussein Obama. Over the past few months, musicians from all spectrums have been voicing their opinion over the historic race for presidency. Many of the same musicians have now voiced their opinion on the victory for the Democrats:

Sacred Reich frontman Phil Rind states: "It's over. The election has been decided. The American people have spoken loud and clear, and Barack Obama will be our next President. Many have waited eight long years for this day. We have suffered through two dissapointing and suspiscious elections. We have watched while Bush has made disasterous decisions, ruined the lives of millions of citizens, put our fighting men and women in harms way over a lie, and tarnished the image of America around the world.

"We have witnessed a historic moment when the spirit of the promise of America has been renewed. That Barack Hussien Obama was elected President of the United States is a testament to what is possible. That we had an opportunity to right our course, and that Americans overwhelmingly voted for change should bolster our hope for the future.

"We do not know what the fututre holds. There is a steep uphill battle to be fought to right the wrongs of our recent Presidential administration. But today we should be proud that a new spirit of hopefullness has replaced the cynicsm of our recent history. We should move forward together and write a new page in the ever changing landscape of Ameirica."

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian posted the following brief message: "Today was a great day for America. Cheers my friends!!! Here's to a better world!"

Just because his father was a Muslim and named him Barack Hussein Obama doesn't mean that he himself follows up on those religious ideals. My parents raised me Christian and I don't believe those same ideals anymore.

I've read into almost every religion there is, and the Muslim religion is not at all as violent as most people like to think it is. As FAN stated in another thread, the Koran (or Q'uran, however you prefer it to be spelled) is quite peaceful. It's just Muhammed's visions. The problem is, some radicals translate Muhammed's visions to mean "kill everyone who isn't Muslim." But most people don't seem to understand that many, many Muslims aren't like that and they'd rather just lump them all into the stereotype.

I just say give the man a chance to prove himself. Not like things could get a whole lot worse, huh? Lol.

This political machine has been running on lies and payoffs for years and if you look at the new president elect's track recored you'll see that he does enjoy a nice payoff from time to time and as you stated, time will tell if "change" is a lie. I have been around long enough to know that I can trust my instincts on this one. He will turn out to be another lip service democratic talking head. I really wish we would have had RP to vote for. Then I would have had something to at least agree with in this election.

I'm glad you made a point to mention about peace and Islam. I did a bit a research and also found that under Islam, women cannot be forced to marry any man without her consent and can annul the marriage if she finds it was made without her consent. I can imagine that Judaism and Christianity can be viewed as peaceful religions as well. Unfortunately, there is always the a$$hole(s) that ruin it.

I think Obama has a lot to bring to the table and let's get the man a chance to prove himself before we dismiss him. We have a right to be skeptic and cynical, sure, but its usually founded on something. Let's just hope that he really does have the welfare of Americans in mind.

Good point TOG, the religion a child was raised in shouldn't affect how they think - its the religion they practice, if any, and how they interpret how it should affect their life. That's why there are so many problems associated with different religions - i am a through and through atheist, because i don't see the point in spending time praying to something that has not had any effect on my life. But i do recognize that religion can be a good thing for some people even if i really don't agree with it.
Back to the point - Obama's religion doesn't matter, and anyway, wasn't America originally formed by members who didn't want the state to become hugely religious? land of the free and all that...

Bully - how the hell could things change so quickly? and besides the streets won't get safer unless there is mass employment into the police, and even then they'd all have to be uncorruptable.
Get a clue, and the fact is the current situation is the fault of other's actions in the recent past - in what way are they his own? judge by what he does in the future.

branded - Arnold wasn't born in America. Therefore, he does not qualify for a presidential running. Who knows?...they might amend the constitution.

Only native-born U.S. citizens (or those born abroad, but only to parents who were both citizens of the U.S.) may be president of the United States, though from time to time that requirement is called into question, most recently after Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, was elected governor of California, in 2003. The Constitution originally provided a small loophole to this provision: One needn't have been born in the United States but had to be a citizen at the time the Constitution was adopted. But, since that occurred in 1789, that ship has sailed.

One must also be at least 35 years of age to be president. John F. Kennedy was the youngest person to be elected president; he was 43 years old when he was inaugurated in 1961. There is no maximum age limit set forth in the Constitution. Ronald Reagan was the oldest president; at the end of his term in 1988, he was nearly 77.

Finally, one must live in the United States for at least 14 years to be president, in addition to being a natural-born citizen. The Constitution is vague on this point. For example, it does not make clear whether those 14 years need to be consecutive or what the precise definition of residency is. So far, however, this requirement has not been challenged.

ok, correct me if im wrong, but obamas parents were not amercian citizens. this election just like 2004 election is fake and is a pile of BS that the american people ate daily...

All one needs to do is read beyond the rhetoric and examine this mans ideals. Socialism, Marxism, black-liberation theology, appeasement, and the list goes on. As far as the "black" thing, if you are black, you should be proud. It is good to see how far we have come from the small-mindedness of our past. Politics don't really matter anyway...the government only allows us to know what they want us to know, and they're gonna do what they wanna do. All kinds of sh*t goes down in Washington and government areas, for all we know they could be communicating with aliens. They have to have control, there must be order, and they know humans can't handle certain information, thus keep it secret....that's why I don't get into politics much. Everything's gonna happen the way it happens, no matter who's in office. It was Bush's luck of the draw that he was in office during these hard times. And everyone's gonna realize that when sh*t doesn't get any better with Obama.

On one last note, people also need to stop worrying about the financial crisis so much when really there's nothing we can do about it, it's going to happen and we just need to let it happen before we f*ck things up even worse. We've gotten through a depression once, we can do it again and sadly we'll probably have to go through it again in the future. It's a big process and we need to just let some sh*t be....

What I find funny is all this talk of Bi-Partisanship, yet they have shown none of that in the last 2 years. Say what you want, but W's approval rating is 3 times that of Congress. The real hypocrisy of our leaders will shine when they start reaching across the aisle just because the messiah will be in office. The current congressional majority refuses to reach across the aisle out of spite of the Bush administration. How childish can people be? Fear not brave Americans! We have suffered through bad presidents before, and what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. Remember this, tomorrow the sun will shine(depending on where you live), the birds will sing, and we will still live in the freeist, most generous, most gracious, most envied country in the world. An African leader(can't think of his name right now) once said of the U.S.: "If we could attain the standard of living of your poor, we would truly live in paradise". We are a blessed nation, and I'll tell you why. We are sitting at computers, yakking about past and future regimes without fear of penalty. Don't lose faith in the American Dream and the envied American way of life. We will get through this and we will be a better nation for it.

Just because soldiers are fighting against some of them doesn't mean they're all bad; it's the person that counts, not the race. So what if his mom is atheist? It's in America's constitution, "freedom of religion." I have to say something, he may not salute the American flag, but that's just his personal choice. But let me remind you, some people that do salute the American flag don't always have full hearted love for our country. I don't take my rights for granted...it's true, we're not perfect, but I'm thankful that I have rights that most other countries don't have. I respect people who serve their country, but I just want our troops to come home.

What about the people still recovering in your own country after the hurricane. If I were an American who lived in the states in this day and age. I would NOT salute the American Flag. i agree with american patriot, obama has no experience, sure he can learn to do his job..but being a senator doesnt have him governing over a population of people like being a governor or even a former vice president. But two years in the senate does not help him at all. especially since most of his time as a senator he was running for president and wasnt even present at congress.

unfortunately he's going to usher in socialism, he wants to control media and talk radio making sure they are "balanced" in how they report their media. so there goes right to free speech. he wants to unionize more people which will kill companies like gm, ford, etc...and then he wants to redistribute wealth. not the worst idea, but just taking money from person a and giving it to person b who needs it doesnt fix the problem that person b isnt working to make a living, its a new welfare program for people to fall back on..

obama's got a shot to change things sure, but more people are concerned with change, and a new beginning, than what he actually wants to do, which is hard to figure out since his speeches are the best motivation speeches so no one worries about his real political plans, just his plan of "change"

I very much dislike politics and discussing them because there is really no winning in either. People have all sorts opinions, informed or not, and politics is so complicated that there is often no right answer (making it even dumber to try to discuss it with people who try to boil issues down to black and white).

But on the economy I really hate how people are making this "redistribution of wealth" into something it's not. If Obama plans to cut taxes on the majority of people, you will be getting MORE money. The only way the rich, overpaid and usually corrupt execs spread the wealth themselves is by throwing lavish parties, often at the expense of their shareholders. There really is so much corporate corruption these days and I like Obama's policies on the economy. Tax those f***ers some more. It's not like they will feel it much anyway. I've always been for taxing the rich equally or more, but the republicans (many of whom I've supported) have given them so many loop holes and breaks, even when they do sh** like shipping jobs overseas. It's definitely time for some changes there and they weren't going to come from McCain.

With all that is there to attack Obama over as well as the massive amount of racism still in this country, the current state of affairs and Republicans themselves really opened the door for his election, so there's really no doubt in how things ended up to me.

Deathbringer, 40% of Americans pay no income taxes, so how can you give them a tax cut? The way it will trickle down is simple. The more taxes you place on the rich, the more you will force them to raise the prices of their products. Hence the hike will come down to you. If you tax the living crap out the rich, you will force them to hoard their money, and not let it loose into the rest of the economy. The rich are the ones who buy the most toys, build the biggest houses, eat at the fanciest restaurants, etc, etc. These places employ people. True, there is too much corporate greed in America, but cutting into that cuts into the very nature of capitalism. Let me ask you a question. If you work your a$$ off and make $300,00 a year, how would you feel if some politician came along and said, "I'm going to take 39% of your income and give it to someone who didn't work for it". How would that make you feel? If you are already poor, it would be easy to say that you would take it. All that concept creates is a larger welfare state. Karl Marx said "To each according to their need, from each according to their ability". That my friends is Socialism. Ask around and you will find, Socialist govts. don't work. As far as shipping jobs overseas, we pay the 2nd largest corporate tax in the world. People will say there are loopholes and such, but we STILL pay the 2nd largest corporate tax in the world. CEO's need to recheck their morals, I agree, but that is why we are a free market society.

Ron Paul!! Only one that I would have "endorsed".

And this was by far the most racist election since God's knows when. How many balck people showed up just because Obama is black? How many young people, especially 18-25, voted for him just to say, "I made history because I voted for the first black president." That and the media had him chosen from day one. I read this yesterday morning:
The Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA), neither of which is considered in any way to have conservative leanings. In the former study, they found that, based on coverage from 48 news outlets between the end of the two party’s conventions and the end of the debates, 57% of the stories on McCain were negative, while only 14% were considered positive, while for Obama, those figures were 29% negative and 36% positive.

I think it is a tragedy that the first black president was chosen for his skin color and not his accomlishments. I gladly would have voted a qualified black man any day of the week, but Obama has LESS than a year in the Senate. Unbe-f***ing-leviable! My brother works at Pizza Hut and he had to be there at least a year just to be promoted to assistant manager!

I'm with Obama in terms of economic and social issues:

WHY are Christians so obsessed with gays?..Turns out alot of religious people (priests) and republicans (Craig, Foley, Haggard many others ) have been drug screaming out of the closet...You suppose they take that public stance so as to hide a gay double life?

As for abortion: I'm not for it...but anyone who wants one is clearly not going to be a good parent...let them get it.

Obama is the lesser of two evils...I don't want an "indebted to neo-cons" Mccain or much, much, much worse...Palin shaping the supreme court. I'd sooner be in a shark attack.

Palin would have been one cancer flair up or stroke from the presidency.

As a rule this country teeters one way gets bored or p***ed and goes the other way--bitter republicans should take comfort that they will likely rise to power again between 2012 and 2020.

Actually, Bruno, if you had come on this site a few months earlier, you would find that me and Kali had some of the fiercest arguments ever on politics. Everything else is just fun and giggles lol, but politics is dangerous territory for us.

I have been into, and read so much political stuff since I was 8 years old, both my parents just ask me to explain what's going on whenever something big pops up. My friends are next in line, even the informed ones.

I watch fox, Cnn, and BBC as well as any local news that pops up, and I go online purposely looking up this sh**. My myspace has a hook-up to 3 different political independent news corporations, so that they just post buletins about whatever's going on. I read Aol news, The onion, and Msn news, as well as my local paper. Even with all that, (excuse the ranting lol) Remembermetal's comment was still one of the most free-thinking and original things I've read in a long time. I may also be a little biased in that I think anything that makes me laugh is brilliant. :p

No doubt. Bill Hicks ('from Rant in E Minor'):

I'll show you politics in America. Here it is, right here.

"I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs."
"I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking."
"Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding out both puppets!"
"Shut up! Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control. Here's 'Love Connection'. Watch this and get fat and stupid. By the way, keep drinking beer, you f***ing morons."

The way I see it, McCain or Obama, in the big picture, there ain't a lot of difference. Both can only do for the country what the presidential office will allow them. Which is less than we would like to imagine.

Blackdog- By "us", do you mean Democrats or blacks?
Anyway,
Let me just point out one more glaring example of the media bias. In Philadelphia, on election day, there were reports that Black Panthers were stopping white people from voting. Sure enough, on YouTube, they have footage of the Black Panthers doing just that. One of the men who reported the incident to police stayed behind to talk to the cameras, and explained what happened. Two Black Panthers had stood in front of building's entrance and were using physical intimidation to prevent registered voters from entering their designated voting office. The man was told by the Black Panthers, "A black man will when this election, no matter what." Virually no one I know has a clue that this even happened. It was buried by the media the next day and instead they were contining to run anti-McCain stories- for example the alleged infighting between McCain and Palin- even after he lost!
Now, would the situation be different if skinheads and/or hooded white men were harassing blacks, ie in the Deep South or in the Bible Belt? Imagine if people who believed in White Pride used physical intimidation to prevent blacks from enterting there voting destination, saying, " A black man will never be president. " The media would have been all over that one.
We all know damn well that story would have shown every fifteen minutes, pointing out that "Racism is still alive," etc.

Okay Branded your point is completely invalid on all fronts! First Obama is black and an African American, regardless of his bi racial background he chooses to be considered an African American, and so do many other black and "minority" groups. Second American citizens have always voted for people like themselves. People with the same religious, racial, moral background, i mean they used to hate the Kennedy family in the past for being Chatholic. You can say all you want about how blacks and "minorities" only voted for Obama because he is black, well blacks and other "minorities" never had the option of picking someone like themselves, some one they could relate to. Also a hell of allot of people also voted for him because he was the Democratic candidate, so regardless of race or religion people would vote for him because they support the Democratic party, and he stood for Democratic ideal and values, the same goes for McCain. Even if black people did vote for him because he was an African American it makes it no different from a white person not voting for him because he is black. And last you sport the Confederate Flag, your a Successionist and that makes you a whole hell of allot less Americans then all the people that voted and voiced their opinions. The Best Man Won. I do agree with you what you said about the whitest white people not endorsing McCain. The problem was, Republicans did not feel he was "hardcore" enough. I know the media did a fantastic job of telling everyone that McCain was "Mcbush" but the fact is that McCain would have tried to work with the Democrats (far more than Obama will try with the Republicans). McCain's own party thought he was "soft" for catering to the Dems, and Dems that he thought he just another Bush, so he was up sh** creek. That is why he lost.

obama is not for tending to americas business in america. he is aligning himself with globalist.

President elect Barack Obama’s first appointment, Rahm Emanuel, who is set to become chief-of-staff, is the son of a member of the Zionist terrorist group Irgun, which was responsible for bombing hotels, marketplaces as well as the infamous Deir Yassin massacre, in which hundreds of Palestinian villagers were slaughtered.

Revelations about Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers, a Weather Underground domestic terrorist, which dogged him during the final weeks of the campaign trail, pale in significance to his selection of Emanuel, whose father, Rahm Emanuel, was an Irgun member.

Irgun has been labeled a terrorist organization by both The New York Times newspaper and by the Anglo-American Committee of Enquiry.

Irgun was closely affiliated with the widely feared hardcore terrorist Stern Gang, an organization that carried out assassinations, train bombings and bombed police stations in an attempt to pave the way for unrestricted immigration of Jews into Palestine. Irgun operated in Palestine between 1931 and 1948.

Following the ideology of right-wing Revisionist Zionism, Irgun’s doctrine was that, “Every Jew had the right to enter Palestine; only active retaliation would deter the Arabs and the British; only Jewish armed force would ensure the Jewish state”.

The son of a man who helped carry out this slaughter has now been selected by Obama to be his chief-of-staff. Cries of “sins of the father” lose their gusto when one considers the fact that, after the 1996 re-election of Bill Clinton, Rahm Emanuel “Was so angry at the president’s enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting ‘Dead! … Dead! … Dead!’ and plunging the knife into the table after every name.” Sounds like a nice guy.

obama is not good for this country at all!!!!

The reason the camps were in place was because Ray "Chocolate City" Nagan failed to act when it came time to evacuate people. Security was also hard to come by because alot of the police either left or joined in the looting. If Loiusiana politicians cared more for their constituents than their pockets, the levees would have been fixed decades ago. FEMA had been sending them money for years to repair and upgrade the levees, but they never did. Instead they funneled the money into other useless projects. Back to the pres-elect. Because it is irrelevant. There is a lot of people every day that want to kill all of "x" race. Thats part of the race for racial supremacy. Like it or not we are all going to become a generic race sooner or later. So all this talk about fights between race etc, is rather useless. America may fall somewhere down the line, but only because it's people let it. The people have the power to educate themselves, unfortunately, they just choose to sit in front of their tubes and listen to what the tubes has in-store for it's people and it's future.

McCain is a good man he just was not the one to lead the country out of the hole that was dug by his Republican cronies. Obama is NOT a Muslim, but Sean Hannity would be glad his message is getting through. My faith in America was restored by the election of Obama. To me it said that America is not as stupid as I thought. We still have 71 days before he actually becomes the president. Anything that happens during that time is the fault of the sitting president George W. Bush.
Obama is one hard working guy. Do you think he would have won if he was not brilliant? Look at the machine his campaign was you do not build something like that if you do not know what you are doing. Again Obama is all BUSINESS.

First off Eric, thanks for your concern. I am on home soil, but I have sucked in my share of sand. I will probably going back sometime mid next year. As I have said before, not all of the blame can be laid squarely on W. Both parties for decades have been putting the best interest of the people on the back burner. Bush was not the fiscal conservative he needed to be. Not once did he veto a Rep. spending bill. However, the Dems were so against drilling on our turf, it stifeled the economy. Alot of people are saying that even if we started drilling today, we wouldn't see the dividends for 10 years. That is totally false. We have refineries that are still in working condition. Fire those babies up and bring the money back home. We need to take a lesson from the very people we are buying the oil from. If we drill on our soil, and the owners could fight the urge to gouge the American people, we could save billions a year on importing fees alone. The refining and transportation of oil is where all the money goes. Texas and Louisiana used to produce 70% of the U.S's oil. Now it's less than 30. I don't want to hear the argument about the millions of acres of land set aside to drill. Those lands are bone dry and useless. The re-opening of all these refineries would still bring in a hefty profit for the oil companies based in the U.S. The U.S. based companies are small fish compared to the rest of them. Not to mention it would produce close to a million jobs around the nation. Roughnecks, welders, chemists, secretaries, drivers, cooks, accountants and management jobs would pop up in nano seconds. All the tree huggers can exhale too. We have come far enough with technology, that we can drill and spill nary a drop of oil. Stepping off, the fact that people still cry "MUSLIM" is a bit ridiculous, but what are you going to do? Humans are ignorant by nature. That being said, I don't credit Obama with running a good campaign. David Axelrod was the true vision behind Obama's sucessful win. Last point, my faith in America never, never, never faltered. We are the most blessed nation on Earth folks, it's just a shame that sometimes we as people tend to forget that. When times get rough around my house, I think back to something that changed me forever. I was in Afghanistan on a cold, rainy December morning. I was in the lead of a detail that was watching over the nationals that were rebuiling a portion of the flightline. We were given a large plastic trash bag that was filled with socks. Yep, ordinary tube socks. We got the foreman, an 18 year old kid who spoke some English, to line his folks up. Imagine if you will, a kid telling a bunch of 40-50 year old men what to do. Anyway, they were all lined up, and we started handing out these socks. All but one immediately put the socks on their feet. One man took the socks and put them in his pant pockets. We told him he could wear them now, as it was damn cold, but he waved us off. After about 4 hours, we were p***ed and curious why the man, who was working silently and dilligently, was refusing to wear the socks. The kid asked him and relayed to us: "He cannot wear the socks because his shoes are already too small. If he puts them on, he will not be able to wear his shoes. He will bring the socks home to his children, who need them more than he does." I said very little the rest of the day. Even typing this, I am reminded of how petty our squabbles are. We are going back and forth over something petty. I am just as guilty of this as everyone. We're blessed folks, we just need to take a little more time to look around and see what we have. In the end, we will all be OK.

Think back to that Darwin bit about the birds from south america that now live in the galapagos. Black people are black because they generally come from africa, where it's hot all the time, with little shade, so that was the best skin pigmentation for that area. White people generally have thicker and longer body hair because we originate from Europe, where it's cold as f*** all the time. It goes on and on like that for each and every race. We all have the same potential as individual people, it's only the physical differnces that people seem to think matter.

I only read a couple of the comments and decided to post.

There are different kinds of Muslims, not all are bad. Most believe in being good to human kind. Some don't and are crazy a$$holes that hate everybody else. The same could be said for Christians, there are different kinds. Good ones who use their beliefs as a channel of hope and faith, and crazy a$$holes who hate everyone else.

With all of the religions and bullsh** stories it's pretty hard to hate someone because they believe in a different IMAGINARY person/god than you do.

I'm glad Obama won, and 8 years ago I voted for McCain in the primaries over Bush. McCain is just a little too old now and Palin scares the hell out of me. Either guy should be able to do a better job than good ol boy George W.

Goddamn, that's a lot of stuff. Cynic, I don't think you have this one right though:

"Guess who gave the least? US. Now that's not a heavy criticism as the US is going through some tough times with its massive debt to China n all, but I'm trying to put things in perspective."

I think the US GOVERNMENT gave the least, but individual contributions and private US charities blow away what other countries give in aid. I read the figures some time ago, but don't remember enough of the details now. If the US took 60% of our wages in taxes like many countries, they'd have more money to give... or to build bombs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I recall offhand.

Couple of things:
1. God is not imaginary. I've been through and seen too much to know. This coming from a former atheist.
2. We are the most benevolent nation on earth. Either through our govt., or from private companies. Always have been, always will be.
3. If the U.S. govt. would abolish the federal, state and local tax, and implement the "Fair Tax", you would see revenue improve dramastically.

Let's not go through the "god pants make him look fat or not" argument here. Too many people are 100% convinced he exists, and too many people think he's just a less hairy bigfoot, for this to be a credible fight. Everything is hearsay/personal experience when it comes to belief in the divine; it's impossible to make a skeptic believe something you have no proof of, and it's impossible to convince a holy man that his convictions are wrong. so pbbbttt...:P

My point was that it's absurd to hate someone for the god they pray to. Your beliefs are your business. I do agree with the fair tax point. and magnanimous work using the "dramastically"

I'll take your word for it DB (you're probably right about the government point anyway), although if it were simple amounts rather than percentages then US would easily blow other countries away because of its size.

@americanpatriot - funny I'd say the same thing without "not" and "former" in the sentence. Funny how America is still one of the worlds most hated countries at the same time though, no?

Cynic, that's just how we roll baby. Different strokes for different folks. As far as being hated, that comes from alot of things. Sure we've made mistakes, who hasn't...well maybe your country, everything seems pretty chill over there, but alot of it is class envy.
