Destruction & Krisiun Do Virginia
“Fuck all this ‘thrash,’ ‘black,’ ‘power’ bullshit,” snarls the towering mountain of a bassist from stage right. “It’s all Metal, right? That’s why we’re all here.”
Coming from Marcel “Schmier” Schirmer, a genre veteran and one of thrash metal’s European founders, these are powerful words. They serve as a reminder of Destruction’s influences – which, considering the German band’s pioneer status, are decidedly traditional – and its legacy, which includes death and black metal.
All told, Schmier has made it credibly clear that tonight is about celebrating Metal, with that capital “M.” Being heavy, playing your heart out, thrashing, rocking. ‘Banging, for those who can use the word “bangover” with a straight face. That’s a multi-context word if I’ve ever heard one. More...

Unearthing The Croatian Metal Underground: Part 2
Back in 2011 during our unending quest to unearth the best the underground has to offer, we previously looked at a series of bands from metal scene in Croatia.
Fast forward three years and today it's time to return to that country again for another threesome of Croatia's best. Read on to discover a new trio projects that all go in drastically different directions while remaining inside the realm of metal: the post-black metal Hesperian Death Horse, modern metal outfit Kryn, and instrumental group Asheraah.
Hesperian Death Horse
Swinging back and forth between atmospheric, understated post-metal and full-on black metal insanity, Hesperian Death Horse is a band of extremes that doesn't care to sit still and stay firmly within one genre.
If you can dig both hoarse, abrasive black metal and the more melodic and ambient side of the genre all in the same sitting, enjoy the full “Mrtav” album below, as well as the band's latest mind fuck of a track “Tesla,” taken off a new split release with Hazarder.

Floor Streaming "Trick Scene"
Cult underground rock outfit Floor has released "Trick Scene," the fourth track from new album "Oblation." Give it a listen below, courtesy of The Onion A.V. Club.
Regarding the new track, guitarist Anthony Vialon comments: "Like a lot of our songs, 'Trick Scene' is partly open for interpretation. It's simply about people who use sexuality, or whatever, to further their agenda. Focused on things external to themselves, they eventually get played by their own game. Nonetheless, they're in control and have a choice."
Floor also recently announced a U.S. album release tour. The Noisey/Vice sponsored tour starts on April 30th in Miami, and has now been expanded to include dates in Orland and Tampa upon its completion. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below.

Benchpress Releasing Split With Martyr's Tongue
Get This Right Records is preparing to release a bulldozing split between two heavy-hitters in the contemporary hardcore circuit: a brutal showdown between Pennsylvania's Benchpress and Puerto Rico's Martyr's Tongue. The following press release was issued about the bands:
"Based out of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Benchpress formed in 2011 initially as a joke, the goal being to write beatdown anthems for gym-rats. Having developed into the metal-tinged, hard-hitting powerhouse the band is nowadays is the product of several lineup, influence and outlook changes over recent years, and with two EPs and a prior split under their belt, the quintet's future appears to be nothing but promising. Benchpress' venomous surge of hardcore in the realm of veterans Cold As Life and Merauder and on par with modern acts Suburban Scum, Empire of Rats and Harm's Way, is displayed through two tracks on side A of this new split, 'Penance' and 'Pissed Away,' recorded, produced and mastered by Carson Slovak at Atrium Audio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
"San Juan, Puerto Rico-based Martyr's Tongue lays down a landslide of pandemonium as corrosive as it is pulverizing. With several demos, splits and EPs released since 2001, the self-proclaimed 'five audio terrorists preaching world genocide through sonic warfare' unleash a brand of metallic mayhem born of the dark lords of Cleveland, Ringworm and Integrity, contemporized with more harsh noise, grime and electronic elements, putting them in the race with Rot In Hell, Full of Hell, Blind To Faith and the like. Their two anthems, 'Deconstructive Process' and 'Unholy Communion,' were mastered by Axel in San Juan, mercilessly overthrowing the B-side of this split platter.
The split is due out on vinyl and as a digital download on May 8th. The track listing is as follows:
1. Penance - BENCHPRESS
2. Pissed Away - BENCHPRESS
3. Deconstructive Process - MARTYR'S TONGUE
4. Unholy Communion - MARTYR'S TONGUE More...
Psycho To Release New Album
Old-school Boston grindcore/punk act Psycho (not to be confused with various other bands of the same name from around the world) is back with a first new full-length release in over twenty-two years! The following press release was issued about the coming album:
"New England scene veterans Johnny X, Charlie Infection and Mike, return with 'Chainsaw Priest,' the fourth PSYCHO album amidst the band's extensive discography. Cranking out seventeen new tracks in under twenty-nine minutes, this is fast and fierce grindpunk of the stripped-down, frantic variety. Diehards of other legendary grind acts including Agathocles, S.O.B., Blood, Unseen Terror, Unholy Grave and Rot can't miss out on Chainsaw Priest!
"Selfmadegod Records will break out 'Chainsaw Priest' in North America on April 29th; preorders for the CD have been made available online.
"Psycho has been shredding their way through the population since 1981. Formed as a punk band, the material simply grew faster and more extreme until it became the high-speed grind/thrash mutation their extensive discography of EPs, splits and albums reflects, never following current trends nor trying to make it sound technical. The band's discography stretches back to 1983 with the release of their debut 7" EP. More...
Damnation Plan Posts Lyric Video
Finnish outfit Damnation Plan has released a lyric video for the title track "The Wakening" to celebrate the first anniversary of the album's release via Coroner Records.
Jarkko Lunnas (drums) commented: "There was a lot of effort put to the lyrics of the album, and these days when not many gets the physical album anymore and reads the lyrics from the booklet, we decided to put them up front in form of a music video.
"About the lyrics of the song and the album... A lot of it deals with that people in general don't seem to care what happens in the world until it's their own life on the line and when the shit has already hit the fan. The whole current economic system is based on growth, everybody wants more, yet the population growth keeps on increasing, putting an exponentially growing debt on resources which are already on minus. No one reacts to the big picture.
"The scenario is that people while get their final wakening the moment when it's already too late, and it is inevitable with the current phase. One of the problems is that politicians don't think long term. What only matters is do they get elected for their next season. Despite all the information and evidence available to everybody we seem to allow history to repeat itself and we learn nothing." More...

Hate has aroused, accompanied by a general delirium, only survival and immediate satisfaction is looked for. There's no sentence, no punishment, no sensibleness... neither sanity. Humanity has become an aberration, tainted and perverse, condemned to misery and decadence, wandering through a desolate environment without resources, weakening slowly until the breath leaves them." Infection Code Inks Deal With Argonauta Records
Argonauta Records is proud to announce the signing of Infection Code. The label also comments:
"Formed in 1999, the band has shared the stage with Cult of Luna, The Ocean, Ufomammut, Zeni Geva and has recorded with Billy Anderson (Melvins, EyeHateGod) and Eraldo Bernocchi (musician and producer, collaborations with Mick Harris, Thee Maldoror Kollective and Ephel Duath, among others).
"In 2014, Infection Code is ready for a comeback, a telluric and experimental work able to join the more destructive sounds of the extreme musical scene, with influences from Today is the Day, Neurosis and Godflesh.
"The band's fifth studio album titled 'La Dittatura del Rumore' (Dictatorship of the Noise) is a psychedelic/noise journey into the most obscure Italian era of domestic terrorism during the 70's. Recorded and produced by Mattia Cominotto at the Greenfog Studios (Genova), 'La Dittatura del Rumore' is probably the band's most ambitious album yet!
"Infection Code shared its vision with the talented artist Marco Castagnetto (ZenPunkArt.com), who realized an exclusive and stunning cover artwork for the band, an authentic gem of symbolism which will be part of the Argonauta Records CD packaging, limited to 300 copies, available in June 2014." "Blood Music is extremely proud to welcome to its roster, one of the most hauntingly beautiful artists we've ever encountered - Öxxö Xööx. "Operatic in scope, utilizing programmed harpsichord as one of the main instruments, mysterious 'Twin Peaks' dark pads [reverberating to infinity], with unexpected glitch breakbeats, hyperactive doom metal riffs, and one of the most haunting vocal performances on the planet - this project puts Blut Aus Nord to task for king of Normandy's electro-metal scene.
"Add on top that the centerpiece of the band is an invented language, which already has a dictionary of several hundred words.
"This is only the second project to ever 'cold call' us that we've signed on, and we're damn excited to present the band's debut album - 'Rëvëürt' - on vinyl for the first time in history. We will also have a good handful of CDs autographed by the band." More...

U.K. hypersonic power metal act DragonForce released a demo version of the new track "Defenders." The album will be produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Studios in Örebro and Varberg, Sweden.
"Working with Jens gave us a different perspective on the songs and a different sound dynamic. We always previously recorded in our own studios but recording in Sweden made us focus and maybe drove us harder, Jens certainly did, he doesn't believe in days off"! said guitar maestro Herman Li.
"The album title and album cover artwork is inspired by the constant bombardment of information we are subjected to during our daily lives" Li added. "We were in an airport departure lounge surrounded by TV screens, flight information screens and advertising screens. We then looked around and no one was saying a word, they were all looking at more screens on tablets, laptops and mobile phones, there's no escaping it, it's complete information overload"!
'Maximum Overload' features a couple of surprises, notably a guest appearance on some of the songs from Trivium’s Matt Heafy. "We've always gotten on really well with the Trivium guys and it was great when Matt had a couple of days to spare and agreed to weigh in on some of the songs"! added Frederic Leclercq. More...
