38 news articles posted on this day.
The metal phenomenon has exploded across the world in recent years, and with the advent of services like YouTube and Bandcamp there's far more music out there than any metal fan could ever hope to hear. That's why each Monday we take a look at three lesser known bands in the metalverse that you should be paying attention to.
We've covered underground black metal extensively in the past, digging up bands that specifically go for a heavily symphonic sound, black metal groups that experiment with non-traditional ideas, and even the highly misanthropic acts.
There's still quite a few underground black metal outfits that deserve a wider audience though, and today we'll cover three that each put a slightly different spin on the style.
Taking a classic kvlt black metal sound, French band Aurvandil drags it out with 9 – 20 minute tracks that lull you in and perform their hypnotic black magic. Aurvandil focuses on a one-two combo, using acoustic and atmospheric segments that explode into fast paced black metal.
While the long song lengths and repetition won't work for everyone, these massive tracks are a journey worth taking if you want black metal to be lo-fi and exude a feeling of years gone past. Following the 2011 album “Yearning,” Aurvandil's latest slab of aural drudgery “Thrones” will see a digital release at the end of April.
Gothenburg's Miasmal has launched the first track from upcoming album, "Cursed Redeemer," which is due out April 21st in Europe and May 13th in North America via Century Media Records. Check out "Until The Last" below, thanks to Terrorizer.com.
Recorded in no more than 7 days with Fredrik Nordström at the mighty Studio Fredman, Miasmal's sophomore effort, "Cursed Redeemer," continues the band's aim of unleashing straight-forward death metal upon the masses. The track listing is as follows:
1. Cursed Redeemer
2. Call Of The Revenant
3. Whisky Train
5. A Veiled Remembrance
6. Until The Last
7. Frozen In Time

Today U.K. death thrashers Arceye premiere a playthrough video for the title track off sophomore record "At First Light." Watch the video below, courtesy of MetalMouth.net. Arceye vocalist/bassist Al Llewellyn comments:
"'At First Light' is one of my personal favourites from the album. Technically it is a nice display of what we can do and captures the majority of what Arceye is all about. With it being the title track of the album and one we weren't wanting to make a full music video for, it seemed the obvious choice for a play-through video!
"As a musician I think it's nice to watch play-through videos of bands sitting in their rehearsal rooms without the glamour of a full production music video, it's where they spend the majority of their time writing/rehearsing the songs they play, it's honest and there's no hiding behind slick camera work or bullshit!
"Musically 'At First light' was a collective effort of all of us, it was intended as our first track/set the mood of the album song with a big build up to a fast verse then a break down mid section to get some heads banging!
"With it being the title track of the album also the lyrical content is about the road ahead/where we think we are as a band which is captured in our album artwork!" More...

Black metal outfit Stigmhate is going to release the new album "Zodacare Od Zodameranu" via Bakerteam Records. The label comments:
"Active in the extreme metal scene for the last 15 years, the band is back with their most obscure and oppressive album to date, both musically and lyrically.
"The album was recorded and mixed between Outer Sound Studios and Destroyed Studios by Giuseppe Orlando (Novembre, Necrodeath) and Stigmhate's own guitarist Mike, and mastered at Hertz Studios (Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated).
"The cover artwork and packaging was handled by renowned Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco (Dimmu Borgir, Keep Of Kalessin, Dark Funeral). Some very special guest appearances by Shyaithan (Impiety) and Nachtgarm (Negator, Dark Funeral) have also been announced."
A Breach of Silence has released a new music video for the band’s latest single "Night Rider," which can be seen below via Bloody-Disgusting.com.
The music video puts the viewer “in the boots” of the green-faced undead lead character, and into the action of western-style shootouts, fist fights, and a dramatic showdown. Join our heroic vigilante Night Rider as he shows a group of outlaws terrorizing a peaceful town who’s boss.
"Night Rider" pays homage to two of the band’s favorite pastimes - 1960’s classic westerns and first person shooter video games. It was directed by Steven Caldwell of Caldwell Entertainment.
"For the Night Rider video, we wanted to do a really cool story line about a character we created called Night Rider” states guitarist Mat Cosgrove. "He’s an undead cowboy whose mission is to take anyone bad or evil back to the deep dark fiery pit where he came from. We as a band use this character as a medium to tell our stories, experiences, and learning’s of life. The true meaning of the song is that, you can make mistakes, and fail at things, but it’s the mistakes and failings that make you who you are. The Night Rider is a vigilante of sorts, he is initially arrested by the law, but when some local bad guys shoot up the town and gun down the sheriff and his deputies, he’s released from prison to carry out justice and uphold the law." Following recent broadcasts informing the public of Enabler's deadly revamped lineup and impending East Coast tour, the Midwest-based trio now expose the details on an upcoming second full-length release, "La Fin Absolue Du Monde."
Translated from French to signify "the absolute end of the world," the title of the new album is yet another of the band's works inspired by filmmaker John Carpenter, in this case in referencing his movie "Cigarette Burns."
"La Fin Absolue Du Monde" was tracked with Shane Hotchstetler at Howl Street Recordings in Milwaukee (Expire, Northless) and mixed by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) at his Austin Enterprises.
Stated founding guitarist/vocalist and chief songwriter Jeff Lohrber on the current state of Enabler: "This record is one of the proudest moments of my recording career. It's a record made by a full band, and it sounds like a band playing. That is something that is lost in modern recording and is slowly becoming a thing of the past in the modern world of music. I feel alienated by it and I'm pissed about it. I recommend turning everything all the way up while listening to it."
Further details on the release, pre-orders, and track listing are forthcoming.

Infernal Curse's "The End Upon Us" 12" MLP will be released internationally via Iron Bonehead Productions on May 16th. The label comments:
"Across four swift slices of barbaric bestiality, this Argentinean black/death power-trio paints a vivid portrait of a future most fatal. Explosions of subharmonic riff, drums driven with aninimalistic abandon, sepulchral voices plumbing the depths of the abyss, and chaotic leads divebombing into and out of the metaphysical carnage: here, Infernal Curse upratchet all the aspects that made their Awakening of the Damned debut so deadly, rendering The End Upon Us a study in deeply occult savagery."

3. A City Burns
4. Hero Clone

The band states: “We are extremely happy and proud to release ‘The Hero Clone’ through Worm Hole Death. This collection of songs are very close to our hearts and to have the support and desire shown by WHD is unparalleled in giving us the confidence to push forward with this material. The team are a joy to work with and we are over the moon to have found Sleeper Effect a new home. We are looking forward to sharing our music with a wider audience and can’t wait to hit the stage to support this record.”
WormHoleDeath comments: “Sleeper Effect came to life when lead singer Adam broke his leg on the set of a zombie film. After some personal tragedies and a difficult period outside of music the rehearsal studio became the therapy room where the guys could bring their problems and work them out through the music. For these reasons their music is something true, real and beyond emotional, specially for someone like me, that have melted cds from Quicksand, Deftones, Staind, Cold and Rival Schools into the player. These guys represent another great chance of growth for our label and we will not fail them. Just check them out, they are absolutely great!!!” More...

A whole lot of heart and soul was poured into the record with many of the songs being written over six years ago.
We are grateful to all of the people who inspired us along the way and especially those who came to our shows and showed us support all along the path we have weaved. We have booked time with the inimitable Billy Anderson Producer Engine Ear and we are beyond stoked to finish the record and move on to the next phase. Artwork! Stay tuned."

Extreme metal outfit Hate today announces the addition of drummer Pawel "Pavulon" Jaroszewicz to the group's ranks after Hexen's departure earlier this month. Hate's mainman and songwriter Atf Sinner comments:
"We are proud to inform you that Pavulon has joined Hate as a full-time drummer! I must say this was not a hard choice, because we have known Pavulon for years and always admired his dedication to the music and development he has made being in groups such as Crionics, Vader, Decapitated and Antigama. Having played a couple of shows together, we now strongly feel that he is the right man in the right place.
"I have no doubt that his drumming skills will bring in some extra power to our live sound as well as new songs. He will be appearing on the upcoming album, which will be followed up with more details soon. We have been working on the new material for months now and I am hoping we get in the studio by June and start tracking. In a few days we start European tour with Kampfar (below). Boston’s melodic hardcore group Vanna has entered the studio to record a debut for Pure Noise Records, and 5th full-length overall, at the Machine Shop in NJ with Will Putney (Stay From The Path, Northlane, Miss May I & more).
The album is due for release this Summer. Vocalist Davey Muise comments:
“One of the things we love most about music is the freedom to try new things and mess around with new sounds and bring different elements into play. We've gotten to work with such amazing producers and engineers in the past. As we started looking towards our future and what we wanted to capture with a new record we started jamming some of out favorite sounding records of late and they all had one common denominator, Will Putney."
He continues, “Making the move to Pure Noise Records was a direction step for us that we really wanted and we needed a producer and studio that could take us to levels and places we ourselves haven't been too. Hearing Will was psyched to work with us was the icing on the cake for all involved.
"Will himself being a touring musician and really having an ear to the ground and a finger on the pulse of what's going on not only in music but the world, certainly made our mutual decision very easy. We can't wait to see what he and the staff at The Machine Shop will pull out of us this time. Except new and big things.”

My main focus right now is to look after my band mates and his family. More information regarding his death shall be released as the details are confirmed."
More information will be brought to you as soon as it becomes available.
Update: the band's management has now issued an official statement, which can be read here.
According to various reports, GWAR frontman Dave Brockie, also known as Oderus Urungus, has been found dead in his home. He was fifty years old. Chris Bopst, a former Gwar bassist and current writer for Style Weekly stated: "I wish it was a joke. Everyone is in shock."
"Dave was one of the funniest, smartest, most creative and energetic persons I've known," another former Gwar bassist Mike Bishop added. "He was brash sometimes, always crass, irreverent, he was hilarious in every way. But he was also deeply intelligent and interested in life, history, politics and art."
"His penchant for scatological humors belied a lucid wit. He was a criminally underrated lyricist and hard rock vocalist, one of the best, ever! A great front man, a great painter, writer, he was also a hell of a bass guitarist. I loved him. He was capable of great empathy and had a real sense of justice."
Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe also weighed in on Brockie's passing, saying: "Got a very sad call tonight from my buddy Chris Bopst, who was one of the original members of GWAR- my friend Dave Brockie, AKA Oderus Urungus, the singer of GWAR, has left the building & taken off back to his home planet. He was 50 years old. I do not know details of why he died yet, just that he passed away at home & his roommates found him."
Gwar's management is expected to comment on the situation at 1pm EST today.
