Septuagint Announces MCD Release
Forever Plagued Records has set April 7th as the release date for Septuagint's debut MCD, "Negative Void Trinity." The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Another prospective band from the fertile Greek black metal scene, Septuagint play a fast black metal style that knows when to pace itself - not much different from some bands under the moniker of orthodox BM, but with their own Mediterranean flair.
"Lyrically, Septuagint are very religious, but the duo also distance themselves, to a certain degree, from being absorbed completely in any particular theological train of thought.

It's taken seven years to get all his work together for their debut EP, Negative Void Trinity, which is being proudly released by Forever Plauged. Nightfell Announces New Album
Southern Lord today confirms the impending release of "The Living Ever Mourn," the debut LP from Portland-based group Nightfell. The label comments:
"Nightfell unites Portland, Oregon musicians Todd Burdette and Tim Call. Recorded and mixed at Red Lantern Studios by Evan 'Maus' Mersky, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, The Living Ever Mourn is the debut full-length born of this union of notable extreme music perpetrators, rending over forty minutes of purely epic metal, bridging morose heaviness with melodic destruction.
"Envisioned and executed in a period of grief, delirium and loss of life, the atmosphere and lyrics mirror the ensuing emptiness while simultaneously embracing the dichotomous power in the unwavering and eternal force of Death. At times the album embodies the guttural, bleak essence Burdette's musical endeavors have innovated since the mid-90s, while other segments undoubtedly breathe with the murky, crushing, Northwestern oppression Call has been associated with.
"The entire album channels unrest through its organic delivery, at times integrating choral mantras, noise-infused ambience and thundering death marches, all combining into an a brutalizing opus that defies debilitating genre tags.
"While the final street dates are still being confirmed, The Living Ever Mourn will arrive sometime in May 2014, with Southern Lord handling the CD and digital versions, while Southern Lord and Parasitic will co-release the massive vinyl version. Stand by for transmissions on the album's official release dates as well as music from the LP and more to be issued in the near future."
The track listing for "The Living Ever Mourn" is as follows:
1. The Last Disease
2. I
3. I Am Decay
4. Empty Prayers
5. The Hollowing
6. Ii
7. Altars To Wrath
8. Funeral Dirge

Cloak Of Altering To Release New Album
Crucial Blast has inked a deal with Cloak of Altering for the project's third full-length exploration into sonic depravity, "Plague Beasts." The following press release was also issued about Cloak Of Altering:
"The name of Dutch avant-metal madman Mories -- a.k.a. Maurice de Jong -- runs rampant throughout the experimental tip of the black/industrial metal underground, Cloak of Altering just one of the artist's solo and collaborative acts/monikers, joining Seirom, Aderlating, Mors Sonat, De Magia Veterum and others, most notably his notorious blackened industrial/orchestral doom outfit, Gnaw Their Tongues.
"With Cloak of Altering, a project that Mories started in 2011 as a continuation of his earlier black metal band Ophiuchus, the artist's fascination with the early symphonic black metal of In the Nightside Eclipse-era Emperor and Arcturus's early efforts, as well as the more fiendish and fractured forms of industrial black metal as practiced by the likes of Dødheimsgard are much more apparent, each moving deeper into stranger and more mutated realms of electronically-damaged symphonic black metal. Crucified Barbara Signs To Despotz Records
Swedish hard rock/heavy metal outfit Crucified Barbara has signed a recording and publishing deal with Sweden's Despotz Records.
The band is currently in the studio working on a fourth studio album, the follow-up to 2012's, "The Midnight Chase," which is due out this August.
"The signing of Crucified Barbara fits perfectly in line with our strategy and goal to be a choice for Sweden's biggest rock bands, where they can work closely with a local Stockholm-based music company on a global basis with an international PR and distribution network," said Ömer Akay, Despotz Records co-founder and partner. "We are incredibly proud that these wonderfully gifted musicians chose to sign with Despotz."
The band added, "We have more energy and take a much clearer position than ever before, and the result has been so far our absolute best, hardest and most important album. We are super excited to have signed with Despotz; the album of the year deserves a fantastic record label."
Crucified Barbara formed in 1998 in Stockholm, Sweden with punk as a first inspiration, which can still be found as a presence today. However, throughout the years the quartet has evolved towards a harder, heavier and more contrast-filled rock sound, mixing elements of thrash, sleaze and hard rock.
Over the course of its 15-plus year existence, Crucified Barbara has toured alongside and supported such acclaimed acts as In Flames, Sepultura, Motorhead, Backyard Babies, Doro and more, while touring extensively across Europe. Break out of your borders and blast past the bounds; burn the limitless fuel of your livelihood and beat your wings to fly. Earn your Name. Go Kill The Tyrant."
Two years in the making, "Inward/Outward" is a 10 track reflection of ideas flying every which way around the recording studio, ranging from cognitive science to a military stint in Afghanistan by guitarist Dave Massicotte.
“We created this with our guts and have dared to explore a less common style of metal where the music is less obvious and sometimes requires the individual to have more than one listen before being able to grasp and really appreciate every musical element,” says guitarist Massicotte of the album. “From big chunky guitar to light piano melody, every song will take you on a different journey and set of emotions." Iron Bonehead Productions has set April 21st as the international release date for Skelethal's "Deathmanicvs Revelation." The label also issued the following announcement:
"Skelethal's debut MLP, Deathmanicvs Revelation says everything it needs to in its title: absolute DEATH WORSHIP, wielding the metal of death like a scythe, an axe, and blunt hammer simultaneously, all in obeisance to occult forces beyond the mien of man.
"At 22 lean, licentious minutes, Deathmanicvs Revelation allows this French duo to gallop forth into - and beyond - the realms of death, utilizing a morbid, miasmic thrust and an execution that sounds utterly possessed.
"Despite their young years, Skelethal are well learned in the ancient ways of death metal, and the resultant sound across Deathmanicvs Revelation is not so much 'old school' nor 'retro' as it is simply respectful of its traditions, adding their own hideous flair to the form."
The track listing is as follows:

The Gardnerz Splits With Vocalist
Swedish outfit The Gardnerz is officially parting ways with vocalist Niclas Ankarbranth. The band comments:
"We are sad to announce that our singer, Niclas Ankarbranth, has decided to step down. Niclas cited lack of time has his reason to leave and we are sad to see him go but we feel that there is no point on dwelling too much on this issue as Niclas is still a good friend and there is now hard feelings what so ever.
"We think Niclas wrote it very well himself in the statement he sent us:
Yo dudes, hope all is well with you guys. Unfortunately this mail is not all of joy as I have some bad news for you. Last year was a year filled with stress in my life. I did not always do what was best for me and carried too much on my shoulders and that took its toll on me. And this is something I had to learn from so 2014 is a year I have a lot of things going on in my private life as well and this means I have to prioritize differently in my life. So with sorrow in my heart I have to resign as the vocalist in the band.
I have already talked with Wilhelm about this matter and I tell you guys as I told him. I have a lot of respect for you all, not only as musicians but also as individuals so I want to be straight with you about this as I do not resign because of any musical differences or grudges against anything. I assure you, it's because I have to prioritize differently from this time forward.More...

"Noble Beast is a power metal band dealing in the sort of epic, sweeping anthems pioneered by bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian, and Iced Earth. Hailing from the icy wastes of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Noble Beast serves to bridge the gap between the melodic, hook-laden style of European power-metal and the heavy, riff-driven approach of US power-metal.
"Songs like 'Behold the Face of Your Enemy,' 'We Burn,' and 'Peeling Back the Veil' are propelled by huge riffs, soaring harmonies, blazing solos, and massive choruses. There's even some thrash and black metal influence that works its way into incendiary speedsters like Iron-Clad Angels and Disintegrating Force.
"Lead by the powerful vocals of front-man Sir Robert and supported by lead guitarist Matt Hodsdon, bassist Drew Sutphen, and Steve Bergquist on drums, Noble Beast are ready to crack through the frozen Minnesota tundra and scorch the earth with their brand of molten metal. Be prepared, America!" More...
Diabulus In Musica Premieres New Music Video
Spanish symphonic metal act Diabulus In Musica premiered the new music video "Inner Force" over at Metal Insider at this location (also showing in the player below). The song appears on the band's upcoming new album "Argia" which drops on April 8th in North America via Napalm Records.
Vocalist Zuberoa Aznárez commented on the song: “‘Inner Force’ talks about the two sides of the human being and about how we can turn negativity into positive strength. To express this idea in the video, we needed to show two very different characterizations and sceneries: a dark, tight and small place to express that negativity we all sometimes have in our minds; and then an open and lighter one to represent mind freedom and renewal. This is also related with the cover of Argia and the general concept in the album: rebirth after the sinking.”
Mikel Larequi directed the video and Manuel Toro was in charge of the photography direction. The video was recorded in two different locations. The first locale is a bunker hidden inside the mountains of the Navarrese Pirinées. Franco obliged to build a lot in the border just after the Spanish civil war and the 2nd World War because he was afraid of an invasion by the Allies, but (fortunately) they were never used. The second place is a beautiful beach of stone surrounded by cliffs in Bizkaia (Basque country). More...

Thought Chamber Releases New Music Video
U.S. progressive metal act Thought Chamber released a new music video for the track "Transcend." The song appears on the band's latest album "Psykerion: The Question," which is available now via InsideOutMusic.
"The making of the 'Transcend' video confirmed my belief that TC will be a musical force to be reckoned with in 2014," says Thought Chamber co-founder, guitarist/composer Michael Harris. "It was the first time we were actually all in the same room together and it felt great. We wanted a no frills video showing us performing our 10 minute epic and finally giving our fans a true visual of the group. This video is truly all about the music. Chris Bowers did a great job capturing the vibe we wanted and editing the video."
In related news, Thought Chamber will soon be debuting as a live-act by performing at the prestigious ProgPower USA Festival in Atlanta, September 10-14, 2014 alongside label mates Pain of Salvation and Leprous, Stratovarius, Jon Oliva's Pain, Pagan's Mind and a host of other international prog mega bands. ProgPower USA is already officially sold out.
