Pit Stories: The Two Towers
Each week we check in with metal bands from nations around the globe to find their favorite mosh pit memories. For this week's Pit Story, Canadian outfit Skull Fist shares the following tale of the "two towers," a fan duo who forced the crowd into on-stage interaction:
Everytime we played in Holland over the last 2 years I always noticed the same two guys in this one city. They were huge huge tall bro's that always used to come out and get totally shitfaced at the shows. I had a few beers with them on multiple occasions but one time we were playing this gig in the Netherlands with Chainsaw and the two huge dudes were there. We started actually calling them the "twin towers" since they were always together and big guys!
I called to them while I was on stage and said "yooooo twin towers!!!!" When I did this they took it as an opportunity haha. They literally just started grabbing people from the crowd and throwing them up on stage. When the people tried to climb off the stage they forced them to stay up there. Within about 3 minutes we had the whole entire crowd up on stage with us rocking and singing along to "Angel Witch" which we used to cover alot.More...

EyeHateGod To Release New Album
Following countless years of personal hardships, studio disasters and times of music industry indecision, New Orleans' own EyeHateGod, with much relief and excitement, is proud to announce the release of a brand new full-length.
Entirely assembled and financed by the band, the self-titled, eleven-track long player will be released on May 27th by the band's partners at Housecore Records in North America, May 26th by Century Media in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and May 21st by Daymare in Japan.
Comments vocalist Mike IX Williams, "I have to say I don't believe we've lost nary a step in the creation of this album and we think these newer songs are a killer combination of classic EyeHateGod mixed along with our best production, mixing, engineering and songwriting in thirteen years. The main and total tragic break in the chain, was obviously last year's death of our great friend and drummer, Joey LaCaze. However, his original drum tracks made it onto the final master recordings and we're fucking psyched about that... As for working with Housecore, it was a no-brainer. We've always been a family, and will always remain a family."
Adds Housecore founder Philip H. Anselmo, "Being a part of the new EHG record is a dream come true. I've known, supported and loved the guys for almost as long as I've been playing music myself, and it is our pleasure here at The Housecore Records Compound to have 'em aboard. And I gotta mention, having heard the new record, this is the EyeHateGod record every true fan has been waiting for.... Hail!"

Nux Vomica Streaming New Song
Portland's Nux Vomica is now streaming the opening track to the band's self-titled Relapse debut album, due out April 1st.
Check out "Sanity Is For The Passive" below, courtesy of Noisey.Vice.com. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Following their previously released LPs -- 2007's A Civilized World and 2009's Asleep in Ashes -- among a plethora of splits and a 7" release, Nux Vomica's first recording for the mighty Relapse and first full-length from the band in over five years was recorded throughout 2011-2012 at Haywire Studios.
"Blending the suffocating atmospherics of the doom/sludge with the raw ferocity of black metal, punk and d-beat, Nux Vomica constructs an organic heaviness comparably hanging somewhere in the balance between Neurosis and His Hero Is Gone.
"Their self-titled album delivers more than forty minutes of the band's torrid style through three massive works, creating an emotional odyssey into the depths of human darkness; a flawless combination of epic song structures with crushing melodies and colossal riffs with powerful dynamics."
Stated the band collectively on the upcoming release: "We are proud to release our new LP, Nux Vomica, on Relapse Records! It's been a long time in the making, and is our third full length LP after a decade of being a band. We think it represents the pinnacle of our musical achievements so far. In other words... we think this is our best shit yet and we are fucking stoked!" More...

Trigger Point Posts New Music Video
Trigger Point has premiered a new video for “Cabin Song," which can be seen in the YouTube player below.
The song appears on Trigger Point’s new album, “Giving up the Ghost," produced by Shaun Lopez (Far, Deftones) and set for a March 25th, 2014 release date through THC Music/InGrooves.
“This song is about my personal struggles with insomnia in the past, which can be maddening. So for the video we really tried to make the viewer feel that sense of discomfort and irritability that comes when you are tossing and turning all night. It’s mixed with sleepwalking and dream sequences and performance footage," says Trigger Point frontman Taylor Wallace. “All three of us live in different cities so we actually filmed our parts separately, which I think brings on the feeling of isolation. We hope that the viewer feels disoriented and a little on edge after watching it.”
Trigger Point's debut LP “A Silent Protest” was produced by ex-Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch) and released on Corporate Punishment. Fans can pre-order hard copies of Trigger Point's new album "Giving Up The Ghost" with an exclusive bonus track and sticker at this location. More...
Killer Be Killed Announces Debut Album
Late last year the formation of Killer Be Killed was announced, which features Max Cavalera (Soulfly ex-Sepultura), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and Dave Elitch (ex-The Mars Volta).
Killer Be Killed will release its debut album on May 9th (Europe), May 12th (UK) and May 13th (North America) via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
The upcoming self-titled release was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur. Cover art and packaging was executed by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature Design.
“He's a Polish worker in the back of a dark truck, but he looked like a criminal to me,” explains Clark about his choice for the cover's image. “Multiplying his face seemed to give him a sort of split personality/schizophrenic vibe, which feels like a good mesh. Not just for the band name but the idea of a (for the lack of a better term) super-group.”
The track listing is as follows:
01. Wings of Feather And Wax
02. Face Down
03. Melting Of My Marrow
04. Snakes of Jehova
05. Curb Crusher
06. Save The Robots

Killgasm Releasing New Album
Killgasm will release "A Stab In The Heart Of Christ" this coming May 27th via Moribund Records. The track listing and artwork are available below, and the band also comments:
"Moribund Cult has been one of our favorite labels for well over a decade now, and we are honored to have our upcoming releases be under same banner that has released such influential bands as Grand Belial's Key, Archgoat, Judas Iscariot, Sargeist, Arghoslent, Craft, Leviathan, Arckanum, Fornicator, Drawn and Quartered, Bahimiron, Thy Infernal, Meat Shits, Satan's Host, Azaghal, Dodsferd, Xasthur, Horna, Old Wainds, Nocturnal Fear, Behexen, and Winter of Apokalypse among countless others!
"From the very inception of this project, we felt Moribund would be the ideal label for us, as they do not in any way censor their artists and no subject matter is taboo for them. And above all else, Moribund Cult is notorious for releasing only the most evil, hateful, disgusting and perverted black metal and filth grind, which are the very aesthetics this band was built upon."

Primordial Streaming "Dark Horse On The Wind"
Cult Irish metal band Primordial has premiered a rendition of the 1966 track "Dark Horse on the Wind." Check it out below, courtesy of Noisey.Vice.com, and the following press release was also issued about the track:
"'Dark Horse on the Wind' was originally written by late Irish musician Liam Weldon in 1966, and laments the lost dreams of the Irish Volunteers of the controversial 1916 Easter Rising.
"Upon its original release, the song was a searing indictment of society in post-independence Ireland, and a warning of the political troubles yet to come. The original Weldon version is a staple of the long-running band's live performance, as Primordial uses it as their introduction to every performance.
"Primordial's rendition of the track is taken from the forthcoming compilation ‘One And All, Together, For Home.’ ‘One And All, Together, For Home’ was assembled by Drudkh main-man Roman Sayenko, and brings together a group of renowned European metal bands to pay homage their distinct, unique heritages. Each band employs their own means to find and present their respective cultural roots to the world via song.
"The eight appearing artists contribute a total of 17 tracks in the form of traditional song interpretations, cover versions of folk artists, or the use of themes and melodies from their musical heritages in original compositions. The tracks found in ‘One And All, Together, For Home’ are available exclusively on this compilation." More...
Tortorum Streaming Full Album
Black metal cult Tortorum is streaming the entirety of brand new album, "Katabasis," out now via W.T.C. Productions internationally. Check it out below, courtesy of Terrorizer magazine's website. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"Following on from their celebrated Extinctionist debut, Tortorum waste little time in upping the ante for inventive, widescreen black metal orthodoxy with Katabasis. The pan-international trio's second album, Katabasis is unremittingly dark yet colored with shades of texture generally beyond the purest-of-the-pure hordes: Tortorum strike deep into the burning heart of black metal whilst exhibiting dazzling 'n' daring compositional prowess.
"Each song is an epic in its own right, and a cursory scan of the album's song titles - 'In Nameless NonBeing,' 'Into the Sixth Coil,' and penultimate closer 'Beyond The Earth And Air And Sun' - reveal that the band's lyricism is as deadly committed to transcendence as their multi-hued music. The black sun rises, and it shines upon Tortorum..." More...
Amaranthe To Release New Album

As yet untitled, this latest outing will be the follow-up to 2011's self-titled release and 2013's "The Nexus." Guitarist Olof Morck comments:
"2014 will indeed see the release of the next Amaranthe record. We don't want to reveal any details yet, apart from this album representing a big step forward for Amaranthe musically - where 'Amaranthe' and 'The Nexus' were closely connected, this new album is bolder and more different... but, of course, with the trademark Amaranthe sound throughout! See you all on tour this spring with our last 'Invincible' shows - and expect blown minds in 2014!"
Amaranthe will be on tour in Europe from March 14th - April 12th in Europe. Full details can be found at this location.

Ormgard Re-Issuing "Ormblot"
Forever Plagued Records has now set April 7th as the international release for Ormgard's "Ormblot." The label also comments:
"Sweden has been contributing some of the most 'evi'" black metal these days, and Forever Plagued Records felt compelled to write Orm, the dark soul behind Ormgard, and request the right to release this grandiose re-recording Ormblot on CD, originally titled Ohelgat blot.
"Someone had said that Ormblot gave resemblance to the early demo days of Emperor, and although we believe Ormgard contribute much more, through a genuinely darkened spirit, the comparison cannot be denied and fits perfectly with the vision of Forever Plagued Records.
"Ormgard practice in the dark Teutonic arts and channel through that to create some essentially great black metal music and ritual ambient. Black metal is nothing without philosophy and ideology, and Ormgard retain both with the utmost conviction and should not be taken lightly. They wish not to be bothered with ideas of a scene or any kind of socially acceptable nature relating to this art, and we feel this describes the very fundamentals of black metal. More...
