Hauk Issues New Album Update
Heathen metallers Hauk have issued the following update about recording a new album:
"Hail all!
"Still working like a madman to get 'The Path of Ice' finished. Spend the entire day working on the song 'Green.' My mixing philosophy is pretty much start with the drums, and then add instruments one at a time to make sure everything is crystal clear.
"Of course, first things first, I need to make the drums crystal clear. And that ain't easy, especially when Chris is wailing like the madman he is! Making sure the bass drum is crisp and dead on, then adding in snare, then checking fills on the toms, and making sure the overheads aren't bleeding in too much... I get a good sound on the snare, then find out it's also in the mics that were on the toms and hi-hat, so I trim that down and aim for clarity- it ain't easy. But it sure is fun! :D Lots of work, but fun.
"All in all, I'm really happy with where this one is going. We've got a real nice choral sound on the vocals (Uber Props to Kristy Hanson!) and some really sweet solos from Boyd. Plus the usual doomy and death lyrics and my Odinic howl up front. I used an SM7B for the vocals, and it's really sounding good and strong.
"All in all, it's a nice little group of songs. I've got rough mixes of everything except Karma, and that should be done in another week or so. Then polishing, then mastering, then victory. I'll try and have a couple songs up on Myspace soon for y'all to listen too."
The track listing for the album will be as follows: More...

Sevendust Drummer To Fill In For Motley Crue
Motley Crue has announced that drummer Tommy Lee has injured one of his hands recently and as such, is currently unable to perform his role as the drummer of the band. A message from the band reads as follows:
"Mötley has always been an interesting animal. The magic is somewhat unstoppable because it is what it is, it’s Mötley. An incongruous mixture to quote my digital dictionary. Even when accidents happen, we pull it together, even if only by pulling a horseshoe outta our Mötley ass.
"So to get to the point, yes Tommy (Lee, drummer) messed up his hand pretty bad, and yes accidents do happen and yes frustration does happen to everybody including Tommy who would rather play drums (even with a damaged hand) than just about anything in the whole world. But following doctor’s orders for a few shows is what we have to do right now ( or cancel shows ). We all wanna say we're sorry Tommy has to sit out a couple shows, But we hope to have him back up on the drums ASAP. Until then, he is at all the shows, jumping around, helping out with vocals and playing piano ever so lightly on 'Home Sweet Home'.
"Now to the hero of the day… Mr. Morgan Rose, the monstrous drummer from SEVENDUST. Morgan flew out with only minutes to go before there were no flights left from Atlanta. He came charging in like a knight in shining armor, drum pedals and sticks in hand, stepping onstage and pretty much nailing the show top to bottom first time out. I think Morgan needs a standing ovation for his dedication to kicking ass and helping not only Mötley Crüe out, but the road crew and everybody else out here whose lives would been effected. Thank you bro.
"As for now, Mötley Crüe is a five-piece band… making history, one injury at a time... hahhaha..."

Two of the members of violin and cello metal trio Judgement Day recently had the honors of recording with Slash for his solo record. Here's an excerpt of the band recounting the story:
"A couple of weeks ago Lewis and I went down to LA for a recording gig with Eric Valentine, a producer who we work with often. Sessions for Eric are always great, so we didn’t even ask who the artist would be this time. When I got to the studio Lewis was already set up in the live room and Eric was hard at work getting tones. He started playing the song that we were working on. It was a pretty pop ballad and the singer kind of sounded like of Maroon 5. Was this a Maroon 5 session? As the song smoothly progressed, my eyes began to scan of the room for clues. I noticed a handful of unusual black guitar picks strewn across the desk and couch. I leaned over to pick one up. Just then, the song hit the bridge and the tone totally changed. A ripping, monster guitar entered, shredding like a demon out of hell. The logo inscribed on the guitar pick was of crossed bones and a skull wearing a top hat. This could mean only one thing…"
