Hour of Penance To Enter The Studio

Hour of Penance will enter "16th Cellar" studio in Rome August 27th with Stefano Morabito as sound engineer to start tracking the instruments of their fourth yet untitled new album.

Frontman and guitarist, Giulio Moschini, comments, "After less then a year of songwriting we're finally ready to hit the studio and record the new album. We're very satisfied with the results of the songwriting sessions, everything went smooth and all the songs came out in a spontaneous way. We have enough material to record almost two albums but as we did with the previous album 'The Vile conception,' only the best 10 songs will appear on the new opus. This time we will work with Stefano Morabito to get a more 'live' approach and a more natural sound to the new album which will embrace a lot of new and different features from the past releases. I'm sure our loyal fans will not be disappointed when they hear the final result!"

Apocalyptica Cancels Upcoming Minsk Live Show

Apocalyptica has issued the following announcement about canceling their upcoming Minsk tour date:

"Due to problems in advancing the show we unfortunately had to decide to cancel this show. The band is very sad as this would have been the first time to play in Belarus for them. But the risk of flying the entire crew, the full stage set up and the band to Belarus and then not been able to play a show (with fans waiting at the concert venue) was too high. We hope to be able to have an Apocalyptica concert in Belarus during the next touring cycle."

Infernal Offering Early Demo As Free Download

Swedish metallers Infernal have issued the following announcement about offering an early demo as a free download:

"This is of course an INFERNAL website, but since I by accident found an old very special lost item yesterday, I feel it could be of worth to share this with others. Since both me and Martin (Halfdan) play on this particular recording with NECROPHOBIC (which I was one of the founders of and mainwriter in at the time), I have decided to share this stuff. In February 1994, When I was still in NECROPHOBIC, we ‘unofficially’ recorded a three-track demo at a local studio here in Stockholm, under the name ‘Bloodfreezing’.

"This featured the tracks ‘Black Moon Rising’,’The Call’, and another track, which is more or less a ‘joke thing’ in the vein of old S.O.D. (which can due to it's ‘violent title’ not be stated here.) This particular demo has been long lost, and not many people have heard it and know it exists. More...

The 11th Hour Issues Recording Update

Dutch metallers The 11th Hour have issued the following recording update:

"As the clock ticks on... Another week of non-stop hard work has finally brought me close to finishing what has proven to be the most immense undertaking of my career. Ronnie Björnström has done a fantastic job on the mix, creating a massive wall of crushing heaviness that still sounds clear and crisp. We'll be working on details like fades and delaytimes for the next few days before the masters are struck and then, after almost a year, it's time to let this beast loose...

"I'm pleased to find that even after living with them for so long the songs have retained their magic and emotional power to me, the darkness in which they were created still engulfs me whenever I listen to them. Or as Ronnie said after finishing the song that I consider the black heart of the album: 'this is pure evil sounding shit!'"

Surefire Machine Axeman Attempts Skydiving Tatoo

Following the postponement of Surefire Machine guitarist’s history-making stunt at Edmonton’s Sky Dive Center from July 4th to August 11th - due to uncooperative weather and stolen camera gear - the time has finally come for Zeke to go through with his own version of a Jackass stunt by jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet while getting tattooed.

“The hype surrounding this stunt has been insane and the pressure’s been building,” admits guitarist Zeke. “There’s no backing out now, but I’m completely stoked to see what happens - and to see what’s probably going to be the world’s shakiest tattoo,” he laughs.

As part of SFM’s “Sinnin’ and Grinnin’” tour the tattoo jump, as explained by Zeke, reflects the band’s motto in its entirety: “It's simple - SFM's motto is "Have a Good Time, All the Time" and that's exactly what I'm doing."

Surefire Machine is currently on their third cross-Canadian escapade, perfectly titled the "Sinnin’ & Grinnin’" tour, to promote their self-titled EP.

Surefire Machine "Sinnin’ & Grinnin’" tour dates are as follows, with more dates to be announced:

07-Aug-09 Rimbey, AB The Vault

White Wizzard Recording New Album

Earache Records announced today that White Wizzard has entered the studio to record their first full-length album.

White Wizzard bassist and founding member Jon Leon comments:

"We are headed to Phoenix, Arizona to begin recording our full-length album with producer Ralph "Talladega" Patlan. He earned the nickname Talladega (from the American raceway) from Dave Mustaine of Megadeth when they worked together. He lives up to the name... Ralph is a quick, efficient producer with a great ear and one of the best in the world for recording rock and
metal. He has worked with UFO, Michael Schenker and Megadeth to name a few. We will track at his personal studio, "Skimo Studios" in Phoenix and then mix at the legendary Prairie Sun Recording in Northern California, where many huge albums in the last 30 years were cut.

"I am excited to get into the studio and finally complete an album with the new line-up. I have been in writing mode for the last two months, just putting all the pieces together of lyrics and melodies and trying to create
an album that has a good variety of songs. I think we have a great bunch of material to record now, and I look forward to seeing how it all sounds when the record is completed. The goal of White Wizzard is to always stick to our roots of main influences and inspiration, while trying to create our own sound and identity. I am confident this record is going to turn some heads.
Some great in-your-face, good times, melodic metal, some epic stuff and some of the crossover hooky stuff that made the mini album so fun too. I am happy with the balance of songs.

"We will post some updates from the studio and we will be filming the entire process. Hoping to have this out early 2010 on Earache Records worldwide and then tour like mad to support it. Should be a great year... Until then, thanks for supporting White Wizzard!!"

Sky Eats Airplane Loses Singer, Need Replacement

Sky Eats Airplane recently announced they have lost their vocalist, Jerry Roush, due to creative differences. But don't be dismayed, because they're writing some "killer riffs." Their "official statement" says,

"After touring for the past two years together, SEA and our singer Jerry Roush have decided to part ways. We hate to see him go, but our creative differences make this the best option for everyone. We are still on good terms and wish Jerry good luck with whatever he chooses to do. As for the rest of the band, SEA is pushing on with a ton of new material: Zack and I (Lee) are going to be flying up to Travis’ practice space up in Delaware to write killer riffs and to start jamming on the new stuff in the near future.

We appreciate you, our fans, sticking with us through this. We can’t wait to show you everything we’ve been working on! And as far as the singing spot we have open, if you are interested please contact us at singforSEA@gmail.com . Keep in mind that we are looking for someone who is talented at singing first and foremost. Thanks!"
