Pantheon I Seeking New Vocalist

Norway's Pantheon I has issued the following announcement about seeking out a new vocalist:

"Pantheon I is looking for an extreme vocalist for both recording and live appearances. We have just finished writing the new album which will be recorded this year, and we have a very good recorder on board. Live appearances are also being considered. The right person will have a flamboyant stage personality and must be able to rehearse in Oslo twice a week.

"Basically you must be very good at extreme vocals, but it is also an advantage if you can sing clean vocals and help with the lyrics. Experience is not as important as the right attitude and what you can do. Contact us at pantheoni@hotmail.com if you are interested and feel you have what it takes. (Feel free to send us recording / demo-tracks, etc. that demonstrates your vocals) To hear some PANTHEON I tracks @ this location."

Satyrasis Checks In With Band Update

Michigan based act Satyrasis has checked in with the following update about the band's activity:

"Legions, since our last blog was in January....I guess it's time get you guys up to speed on the haps, as it were. First some FAQ's that have been piling up in the Satyrasis Fan Mail. ‘Why haven't there been more updates on Myspace’ -- Tex, Tuscalooosa, AL. Because none of you retards are on myspace anymore, even though it is (sad to say) a superior medium.

"‘Why aren't you on Facebook’ -- Freddie, Bangor, ME. We are at this location. ‘Do you still have a drummer’ -- Phil, Golden, CO. Yes, Dimitri Mitropoulos, who has been back in the band for nearly 9 months. ‘What's up with that Mike guy drumming for you at shows’ -- Tony From Battlecross. Mike's a good friend who was helping us out with some shows we got offered, he didn't join the band. He might do so again in the future, but we probably won't need him to.

"On to the real update. For the last year, we've slowly been piecing together songs for a new record. (emphasis on slowly). Now that Dimitri has returned and we're able to get in a room together and jam...things are starting to take some real shape. More...

Gwar Vocalist To Appear On Fox News Red Eye Again

After his heavily-censored eleventh appearance on the late-night gab-fest Red Eye, in which he compared the smell of Jessica Parker's twat to "that of a camel-cunt", GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus has been slated to appear once again as the shows "Interplanetary Correspondent," despite repeated calls from the Vatican to ban the long-dicked alien from appearing in public.

"Screw the Pope. He's old," quoth the warty front-thing. "I'm back where I belong, on top, well, a little left of the top, more like the side...ohhh...fuck it."

Catch Oderus and host Greg "Butterball" Gutfeld on Red Eye, at 3:00 a.m. EDT Tuesday, August 3rd.

In other GWAR news, the Slave Pit, GWAR's pit of slaves, located in Richmond, VA, is busily preparing for the re-awakening of an ancient GWAR tradition, the GWAR-B-Que. Back in the early days of GWAR, the slaves used to throw parties in the Pit in the hopes of attracting helpless women. These parties grew in size and fury as other bands and insane artists got involved...but then just stopped happening.

But the GWAR-B-Q is back, on August 8th, 2010, at the Bike Lot in Richmond, VA. Check www.gwarbq.com for full details, directions, and more.

GWAR is busy working on their brand-new album, "GWAR's Bloody Pit of Horror," to be released this fall on Metal Blade Records.

UPDATE: In case you missed it, you can now watch Gwar's 12th appearance on the program online here.

Luminis Announces New Lineup, Working On New Music

New Jersey's Luminis, which started out as a female fronted symphonic metal tribute act, is now creating original music in the vein of the bands they once covered (e.g., Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation). Set to become a 100% original act, Luminis has been tweaking its sound, which included a lineup change. The full lineup now consists of Steve Megna on drums, Jon Hanemann on bass, Aralyn Scarlett on keys, Ivan Romero on guitar, and the original lead singer, Tara Ortiz. "The lineup change has been a huge factor in the influences we work with, and the style we are trying to achieve," comments Tara Ortiz.

The long-awaited demo has been pushed back as a result of the many changes Luminis has undergone in the past few months. However, most parts are now recorded and the finalization of the demo is in the forefront of the band's agenda. "We are hoping to have the demo ready to distribute at our upcoming show in September, in which we'll open for Blackguard," states Ortiz. It will also be available on their MySpace page. They will then focus on writing more and creating an EP and full length album in the months to come.

Luminis is looking forward to sharing the stage on September 4th with Canadian death-metallers, Blackguard, at Championship Bar and Grill in Trenton, NJ. Tara Ortiz comments on the show: "This is a big show for us, our first national show and we're excited to debut some new original songs. This will be our first show playing mostly originals, rather than covers!!"

Here are the latest Luminis shows planned:

August 7 - Muralhas Underground - Newark, NJ
August 27 - The Pavillion - Budd Lake, NJ
September 4 - Championship Bar & Grill - Trenton, NJ

The song is expected to appear on the group's next studio album, which the band will begin recording on August 16th. "We’re so stoked to be working with Jacob Hansen on the new album, Jacob has done some stunning work in the past, his production skills are really gonna suit the style of the new album, his mixes are so heavy and lively which is exactly what we are looking for.. It’ll be real cool to capture the live energy of the band in these recordings. Steve and Sy are leaving for the studio immediately after our appearance at Bloodstock Festival, where we should be, if all goes to plan, debuting a track entitled ‘Born For War’ taken from the new album….it’s a violent beast, very fast and heavy with lots of twists and turns."

Jacob Hansen says about the recordings: "This is one of the more exciting productions this year for me! Since their very first albums (Power From Hell + The Force), which made quite an impression on me back in my teenage years, I've loved this dark and heavy band. Working with these guys is gonna be awesome!"

Interview with Chuck Billy of Testament

Even though Testament was not included in the “Big Four,” many have said that Testament are not only as good, but even better than the bands that made up that elite title. You can tell that Testament is at the forefront of the subgenre even more so today, when plenty of modern thrash bands will emulate older Testament riffs.

Chuck Billy has been with Testament from the very beginning with their debut album “The Legacy.” Spanning over twenty years, with nine studio albums, Chuck Billy has forever engraved his name as a top dog vocalist in the thrash hall of fame. Having the capacity to mix harsh vocals reminiscent of old school death metal to a more cleaner style of thrash, Chuck Billy definitely is one of the best vocalists in thrash metal. More...
