Unearth Frontman Comments On Early Graves Tragedy
Trevor Phipps, vocalist of Unearth and founder of Ironclad Recording, has issued the following statement regarding the passing of Early Graves' vocalist Makh Daniels.
Trevor Phipps:
"The tragic death of Makh Daniels has shaken us at Ironclad completely to the core. Within the label we pride ourselves in our personal relationships and family like atmosphere and the loss of Makh is the untimely and devastating loss of a friend. I personally knew Makh as a man of incredible passion. You could read it in his ferocious yet challenging lyrics and see it in his undying heartfelt stage performance. Whether he was playing in front of seven or 700 people he would always perform with the same intensity and genuine emotion. He continuously showed his love for his words, music, friends and anyone who was lucky enough to be in the room with him while he performed. His life was cut far too short and he will be sorely missed by his family, brothers in Early Graves, friends around the country, and all those that he touched with his lyrical and performance command. R.I.P. Makh."

Kamelot Unveils New Album Cover Artwork
KAMELOT has unveiled the cover artwork for their 9th studio album, "Poetry For The Poisoned."
The artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton. He sums up his experience in working on "Poetry For The Poisoned," “It was a great challenge for me as an artist to visualize the music of this new KAMELOT masterpiece. Really difficult, as I had to combine a Fine Art aesthetic and technique blended with a really dark, melancholic, poisoned atmosphere. I am really satisfied with the final result; it’s definitely the darkest artwork for KAMELOT so far…. A sweet poison for the eyes that successfully addresses their new poetry of music.”
Frontman Roy Khan assures that Poetry For The Poisoned will both please the band’s existing following and expose the universe of KAMELOT to a whole range of new fans. “Poetry For The Poisoned is our longest and toughest production so far, but when I hear the result I know it was well worth the struggle,” he says. Death Of Desire Claims Vocalist Was Kidnapped
Guitarist Morbid of Death of Desire has issued the following statement via the band's MySpace blog claiming that vocalist Dawn Desiree has been kidnapped:
"Hey, Morbid here. I am fucking devastated by this that has happened. We met with this promoter asshole at a bar today, Dawn Desiree and I went there, we were supposed to talk some business about live shows and shit like that. The scumbag went there with his so called band (name I don't care to say), at the end of the night they all turned against me and tried to fucking beat me up, some time after Dawn Desiree who was intoxicated with alcohol was taken away and her car was stolen by them.
"I was left by myself in the middle of nowhere and had to steal a fucking bike to make my way home a faster trip, it wasn't. It sucked. Fucking 5 hours of pedaling and walking like a maniac. This are the longest hours I've ever had to go through. Not only a good friend and band member is missing for me, but also a fucking soulmate. This people have destroyed me, I will take vengeance of this. Blood will run. I can only hope to see her again soon. More...
Early Graves Issues Statement About Makh Daniels
Early Graves vocalist Makh Daniels passed away when he was involved in a van accident on August 2nd as the band was traveling through Oregon with Funeral Pyre. Early Graves has now issued the following statement about Makh's passing:
"There are no words that can properly say all the things that I want to say about our friend Makh Daniels. He is one of the most amazing writers I have ever known. He is incredibly funny. He is wise beyond his years. He is the most honest person you could ask for as a friend or a band mate. I had the pleasure to be in 2 bands with Makh and they were some of the best years of my life thus far. Sadly, Makh Daniels was taken from all of us. He wrote a lyric in an Early Graves song 'To everyone that I've ever loved, I've failed' but if there is anything that I could tell him is how proud I was of him and how much I loved him and how much his friendship meant to me. We were all like brothers.
"I know that there was a lot of people out there who were also deeply affected by this wonderful man, Makh Daniels and I cannot tell you how much he loved music and performing and how much he wanted to affect and help people get through their demons in life.
"To all of you guys, and to all of the amazing amount of love you guys have sent our way, Thank you. You guys are helping all of us get through this horrible time. We are nothing without each other right now and you guys are helping so much. But we've seen the whole community of metal and punk and hardcore musicians and fans join together in this trying time and I want to say how much it means to us and his family. More...

All songs have become nothing but amazing during this whole process, and this album is for sure to bring Iskald to a whole new level. We're exited as hell to get on with the recordings.

Ravenhelm Calls It A Day
Torr "Munnin" Bunnell of one man black metal act Ravenhelm, which was featured in an earlier edition of our "Unearthing the Metal Underground" column, has issued the following update about the project coming to an end:
"As of late, I have been in a part of my life were I find that I no longer need Ravenhelm. The ideologies behind the music, I will always cherish as a part of who I am. However, I do not want to have this project stagnate and be hampered by mistakes I have done in the past that may or may not smeared its name. I don't want to be one of those projects/bands that just does the same thing year in and year out. Further more, I am bringing an end to Ravenhelm. Musically I just no longer feel it, I ran its course and nothing more can really be said or done.
"The latest album now out, 'Runemal' will be the last publicly released album from me, under the Ravenhelm name. You can order the last album through Ziekte Records. Ravenhelm was my gateway project into full time recording. Before this project, I went into long hiatuses without bands or lacking the ability to put music together. I made my fair share of bad choices with Ravenhelm, which I shall not continue again with my future projects. There might be a good dose of Ravenhelm influences in my future musical endeavors, but beyond that the project known as 'Ravenhelm' will be put to an end. More...
