The "Mad Scotsman" Gives A History Of Sicarus
San Diego's dual guitar act Sicarus has been gaining force in the California metal scene, sharing the stage with the likes of Threat Signal, Napalm Death, and 3 Inches of Blood. The band's most recent release was the five track "Strength of All" EP, and two songs from the disc are currently available for streaming via the Sicarus MySpace page.
The band's "Mad Scotsman" guitarist Kenny shared the history of the band and how it has changed to move towards a more melodic sound with frequent clean vocal work. While explaining the idea behind the band's most recent EP, Kenny commented "Going to the title track, 'Strength of All' is basically saying that you aren’t going to succumb to all the crap life throws at you and you’ll overcome and prevail over that type of stuff. It’s giving a positive attitude towards life." More...

The Ocean Reveals New Album Details
The Ocean is currently in the process of mixing the band's upcoming album "Anthropocentric" at Studio Mecanique in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the same place where the previous album "Heliocentric" was recorded and mixed. The album will be mastered on August 25th by Svante Forsbäck in Helsinki. "Anthropocentric" will be released in November of 2010. The album is the second part of a concept spread over two albums, which started in "Heliocentric." "The sound is more dense and maybe a tad more raw, which suits the songs perfectly," comments guitar player Jonathan Nido.
"The album is a pretty big production, and still has a very earthy, organic feel to it," comments guitarist Robin Staps. "We have spent a great deal of time on the basic sound this time around, drums, bass, guitars and vocals… and at this stage I am pretty confident that this will pay off in the end! Anthropocentric will continue the critique of Christianity, inspired by the questions that Dostoyevsky asked and some of the answers that Friedrich Nietzsche and Richard Dawkins gave."
The track listing for "Anthropocentric" is as follows:
1. Anthropocentric
2. The Grand Inquisitor I: Karamazov baseness
3. She Was The Universe
4. For He That Wavereth…
5. The Grand Inquisitor II: Roots & Locusts
6. The Grand Inquisitor III: A Tiny Grain of Faith
7. Sewers Of The Soul
8. Wille Zum Untergang

Woe Of Tyrants Cancels Final Shows Of Tour
Woe Of Tyrants has checked in with the following tour recap and announcement about canceling the remaining shows of the band's current tour:
"Hey everyone out there in comprutah land, last night we wrapped up the Driven to Conquer tour with Jungle Rot and Lightning Swords of Death. As with most tours there were definite ups and some tough downs but the overall feeling for everyone at the end was that it was a great experience with some incredible bands. Unfortunately, a couple of key shows fell through, and there were also some unexpected expenses (van repairs) that we had no way of predicting. This has led all of the bands to decide that it would be best to forego the last 3 shows of the tour and head home.
"We also had headlining shows booked to get us from the west coast back to Ohio, which we of course now cannot be a part of. We despise canceling these dates, and deeply apologize to those affected by the decision but it was ultimately out of our hands. We feel honored to have been a part of such a great package and look forward to making our way back out in the future.
"In the mean time, we're heading home for some much needed 'catch up on the bills' time and we figured that since we're finally going to be not touring for a little while then we can continue working on material for our next record. We'll be playing some regional shows in October with D.R.I, Early Man and Evile. Much love!" More...

Amalgama Comments On Upcoming EP
Amalgama has issued the following statement regarding the upcoming release of the band's new "Amethyst" EP:
"If you haven't checked this location already, we have several of the new tracks posted up for your listening pleasure. This bad boy is going for pressing immediately and will be available to you as soon as possible. This EP is the culmination of a lot of hard work, whittling down to the best songs that appear on this disc. Each of these tunes sound massive.
"Our producer Spomer really captured the massiveness of our sound as a band - thick guitars and rumbling bass, thunderous drums and plenty of harmonies soaring over it all. We are so proud of the final product that we want you to hear them as soon as possible. So what are you waiting for?! Head over there and check them out! And feel free to write us back and let us know what you think!
"In the coming weeks we'll be shooting a music video and getting a lot of shows lined up in anticipation of the release and hopefully we'll be seeing a lot of new and familiar faces out on the road. Our last one off gig in Trenton at Champions was awesome, and we want to thank Adam and everyone in Local Demise for having us down. You may have seen a few shots on Twitter of the club; it was quite an interesting place to say the least. Stay metal!"

Omnium Gatherum Signs To Lifeforce
Vocalist Jukka Pelkonen of Finland's Omnium Gatherum has issued the following statement about the band signing to Lifeforce Records for the release of a new album:
"Omnium Gatherum is proud to announce signing a new worldwide deal with German Lifeforce Records. The 5th album recordings will begin next week and will take place at Astia studios and Moneyhouse studios with good ol' Teemu Aalto and the album will be mixed and mastered again in Sweden by the almighty Dan Swanö at Unisound studio Örebro. Expect an early 2011 release date!
"After a lot of consideration and negotiating with many parties, we came to a conclusion that Lifeforce is the way to go! They've been showing the right kind of interest in us for some time now, after seeing us live on last European tour, and it seems that they have the same honest attitude towards music and mayhem as we do.
"The material for the 5th OG masterpiece is now almost finished and we're ready and 100% confident to hit the studio in the end of August. This time we've really put a lot of time and effort on the pre-production of the stuff. It's going to be an epic and massive attack of ever flowing stream of Finnish 'melodic death metal,' straight from the souls of black! The album will be out early spring '11 and before that the OG crew will escape from the studio and tour Finland with Dark Tranquillity oct./nov. See you on the road folks!"
Kongh Parts Ways With Bassist
Sweden's Kongh has issued the following announcement about parting ways with bassist Oskar Ryden:
"As the ones who attended our shows last weekend already know, Kongh is now temporarily a 2-piece. Our bass player Oskar Rydén, who's been in the band since 2006, has parted ways with the band. Thanks for your time Oskar, and good luck with your future achievements.
"Since we released our second album 'Shadows of the shapeless' last year, we've put as much of our time and energy as possible into touring and promoting the album. Now we feel like we're done touring this time around, and what we've had in mind for the autumn for a while now is to lock ourselves up in the rehearsal space and focus hard on writing our third album. Anyone who wants to see us live with this temporary line-up can do so in September while we're playing in Vetlanda on the 3rd, Leipzig (with Ufomammut) on the 15th and hopefully in Stockholm (with Switchblade) on the 14th.
"For those wondering, the bassist position is free and we're open for suggestions. Anyone who really knows how to handle a bass and has a strong passion for the kind of music we play is free to get in touch. Hometown, age or gender isn't of any big importance, but you haveto be able to practise in Vetlanda, Småland every now and then, and have the time and ambition to occasionally tour. Interested?
