Mantic Ritual Parts With Drummer Adam Haritan

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Mantic Ritual have announced the departure of Adam Haritan from the band's ranks. The band commented by saying:

"This was a mutual decision and we all agree that it's best for everyone involved. It's been obvious to us for some time that Adam was not as interested in making music as he once was, and we all thought this would be a good time for him to pursue other things while we found another drummer who can be fully dedicated to Mantic Ritual. There are no hard feelings between us, and we're grateful for all the time and effort Adam has put into this band over the last five years. We wish him the best and we're sure he'll be successful in whatever path he chooses. Mantic Ritual will be looking for a new drummer immediately to continue writing, recording, and touring. We'll be back in action as soon as possible!"

Growing Up Twisted: Rock and Roll Ain't Dead

This week’s Growing Up Twisted begins with Cody telling a story of a chef that puts an eel up his drunk friends ass. At this point there really needs to be one show dedicated to Cody’s sexuality. Actually, one episode may not be enough, we are talking miniseries.

Dee receives an offer to do a show in Atlantic City so he uses this opportunity to take the family on a road trip to A.C. After a stop at the recording studio where Jesse is playing his new song, “Rock and Roll Aint Dead”, Dee decides he wants to sing the song with his son at his upcoming show. Meanwhile, back at the house Lita Ford (who is apparently opening for Dee) is calling to invite Cheyenne to sing her song “Cherry Bomb” live at the show. Of course Cheyenne, Dee’s little drama queen, has a sore throat and is unsure she will be able to perform the song. More...

Behemoth Uploads "Alas, Lord Is Upon Me" Video

Update: this video has since been removed from YouTube. The censored version is now available for viewing at this location.

Behemoth has posted the music video online for "Alas, Lord Is Upon Me," which can be viewed below. The clip was produced and directed by Rafal Szermanowicz and Grupa 13 who also shot Behemoth’s videos for "Ov Fire and the Void" and "At the left hand ov God." Nergal commented on the new video:

"First of all, we’ve overcome ourselves with this new video clip. Period. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time. Pretty much no digital intervention, no blue boxes, no fake shit this time, but great filming, good acting, and a fuckin’ awesome storyline. It’s disturbing, crazy, and evil. We’ve had over 70 people working for us on this video so we can easily say it was the biggest production so far. I’m beyond excited! Wait and see…"

Dariusz Szermanowicz of Grupa #13 adds: "This time we decided to make something different. We'd like to make video in ‘cinematic’ style without so many VFX like in last two videos. We found great location, we had dozen of actors and extras and awesome stylizing. During the 16 hours of hard work we've created amazingly killer video!”

Iskald Issues Recording Update

Drummer Aage André Krekling of Norwegian act Iskald has issued the following recording update:

"We have just finished the third day in Urban Sound studio, Oslo. On Monday we meet up with our producer and did all the necessary setups and sorted out the sound. After that we managed to do one drum track before we felt the need for beer.

"Our main focus is to get the drums done first, but we've also had time to do some vocals. Even though we have had some technical problems and setbacks, it seems that we will make it according to the schedule. We have to work hard to get there, but with just four drum tracks to go the rest of the week should be a blast. Will be back tomorrow with some updates. Check also out some pictures in the studio album here at MySpace! Now, lets find some alcohol..."

Accept Announces First Leg of North American Tour

After debuting their new line up to a sold-out audience in New York this past May and then traveling to Europe for shows in 16 different countries in 80 days (including two shows opening for AC/DC), Germany’s legendary metal band ACCEPT will return to tour the U.S. for the first time in 14 years on a co-headlining tour with King’s X. Their first show will kick-off the eleventh annual ProgPower USA festival in Atlanta.

Guitarist & songwriter Wolf Hoffman checks in about the band’s time in Germany and their upcoming North American trek:

“Believe me, this was boot camp, but we loved every minute of it! Twelve months ago, there was nothing on the horizon that would have made us believe we would be on the stages of the world again as ACCEPT… and here we are! [New lead vocalist] Mark Tornillo inspires us to get it all out in a way we have not been challenged before. We can't wait to be on stage with him!!!! He is the new kid on the block and he is the reason we are back again. It is such a relief, such vitamin shot!!! And if we could, we would never stop!!!”

When asked what has surprised the band the most about their fans, Hoffman responds enthusiastically:

“NO DOUBT ABOUT IT – the biggest surprise is the way they make us feel welcomed. Of course we hoped the fans would be happy to have us back - who would not believe that about their fans? - but, what is happening here, EVERYWHERE we go, is a TOTAL KNOCK-OUT for us. WE HAVE NOT SEEN FANS SO HAPPY IN A LONG, LONG TIME.”

Confirmed tour dates are as follows:

09/09/2010 ProgPower USA Kick-Off – Atlanta, GA Center Stage
09/23/2010 The Chance - Poughkeepsie, NY

Aborym Announces New Album Release

Four years after the release of "Generator," Italian electro/post black metallers Aborym are back with their fifth album. Set for a November 8th release, the new full-length is entitled "Psychogrotesque" and is made of one story, a single song written by the band’s mastermind Malfeitor Fabban and talented guitarist Hell:IO:Kabbalus.

Aborym describes the album as a "realistic story about the horrific human aridity and its fragile impotence. A social metaphor, uncomfortable but very current, treated cynically by bassist-singer Fabban through a story set in a mental hospital, which suggests that he used his pen with an absolute commitment and the determination to keep off Aborym from the banality and clichés both ideological-aptitudinal and musical that saturate the extreme metal scene."

"Psychogrotesque" was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Fear No One Studios by Emiliano Natali, with the sound consulting of Marc Urselli at the Eastside Sound Studios in New York.

Wolven Ancestry Cancels August Tour

Wolven Ancestry has issued the following update about canceling the band's previously scheduled August tour dates:

"Due to the Michigan Death Fest cancellation (the main reason for our August tour dates) Wolven Ancestry will not be playing the shows scheduled. The other bands (Eclipse Eternal, Empyrean Plague, Strings of Ares) will still be performing select dates of the tour, so if you live in the area please come out and support these bands. We are planning on rescheduling another tour in the coming months that will be well worth the wait.

"We apologize to all our fans, the promoters involved, and the bands we were supposed to tour with for this decision. We really wanted to do the tour but future tour plans in the same cities are underway and we did not want this to interfere with the turnouts in the near future. As stated before, it will be well worth the wait and Wolven sends our deepest apologies.

"Please Note: Myspace is having severe errors with our page and although we have deleted the events several times from our page, the dates seem to keep showing back up on the site. PLEASE DISREGARD THESE DATES, as we are not playing these shows. Hopefully myspace fixes this problem as it is quite an annoying issue."

"German panzer Maroon will return in full swing to take over Europe. Driven by the band’s steadfast dedication to honest, vigorous and timeless metal they will deliver a live show to remember. Support will come from the USA’s hottest export when it comes to technical yet-catchy modern metal. An 8 string brutal guitar assault is what you will get from Minnesota's own After the Burial.

"British metal crew The Eyes Of A Traitor will present their record Breathless to European audiences. ‘Breathless’, a head pounding assembly of raw fury and cavernous grooves, militaristic precision and throttling urgency. Rounding out this already immense package are Canada’s most exciting female fronted export, The Agonist, who combine shredding leads with pure technicality, topped off with the glamorous Alissa White-Gluz’s brutal growls, as well as dramatically melodic clean vocals. Be sure not to miss this neckbreaking monster of a tour."

Interview

Bassist Johnny Christ Shares His "Nightmare"

Avenged Sevenfold recently hit a milestone in their career, landing at #1 on the Billboard top 200 chart with the band's fifth studio-album "Nightmare." After the passing of drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan, Avenged Sevenfold tapped Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater fame to handle the drum recording duties on the album and fill in for touring duties.

Just prior to the recent release of the music video for the title track on the new album, Bassist Johnny Christ spoke with Metalunderground about the new album and the band's future. Commenting on the death of The Rev and how it influenced the album, Johnny stated "...when he passed it kind of took the record to a darker place than it already was. It’s definitely a heavier album than the previous ones. We had already planned on that, but obviously all of us are trying to make this more of a tribute to Jimmy. There are a lot of people out there who have lost somebody and we want to let them know they aren’t alone." He also went on to discuss how Mike Portnoy approached the drumming on the album and the distinctive artwork on "Nightmare." More...
