Van Halen Enters The Studio To Record New Album

According to a message from the band's publishing company, American rock legends Van Halen have entered the studio to record a brand new album. This will not only be their first album since 1998's "Van Halen III" but their first album to feature David Lee Roth since "1984," which was released that year. This will also mark the first Van Halen album to feature Wolfgang Van Halen, son of the band's guitarist Eddie. The album is expected to be released through Warner/Chappell Music in 2011.

Because every band you thought were long gone (see Soundgarden and Guns n Roses) are coming back from the grave. Some bands, this is a great thing. Others... like these guys... should have left their legacy intact.

I love Van Halen and all, but this is a very bad idea. An album that will immediately be forgotten.

I love van halen too but this will probably be one of those albums that will take 5 years to complete. Lot of studio drama, guns n roses style. Very annoying.

All I can say is ... AWESOME! There has not been any music like what Van Halen put out in the 1980s. While there have been other guitarists and singers like Eddie and Dave. No one has ever successfully reproduced the Van Halen sound. I'm betting both boys still have their chops and I can't wait to hear what they put out. I'll be the first in line to get the CD. Yes, I'll actually buy it! If Ozzy can still crank out a great release (Scream!), then so can these boys.

I'm looking forward it!

Never liked Van Halen, but I wouldn't say they sucked. Sales don't make a band but influence can, and they certainly were a massive influence on many bands. I've got respect for the Van Halen legacy, the band itself I don't really care about.

VH hasn't put out any good music since 1984. Two possibilities I see here: 1. The album seriously kicks royal a$$ and people start claiming it's the big comeback. 2. More likely, It's full of soft whiny tunes with Dave occasionally trying to let loose a scream but choking on his fake teeth and promptly vomiting all over Eddie's $200000 axe made of special edwood genetically modified to his specs. Oh and let's not forget that modern poppy brickwalled compressed-to-hell production and the digital sheen guitar tone. Eddie's a great guitarist and his skill are undenyable, but when you put him in a room full of whiners (every singer except Dave) you're asking for trouble. My hopes on this time capsule are not high. I hope I'm wrong.

i dont mind some of van halen's stuff. but in the words of clint eastwood. sometimes its best to leave a good thing alone. btw #11 just cuz a band sells alot of albums doesnt make them good. dont make me bust out the justin bieber card.

This will be the first VH album without Michael Anthony. His bass playing can be replicated...his vocals, not so much. They were a big part of the VH sound.

Never been a huge VH fan, but I'm still one of the few people who preferred VH with Hagar over DLR.

I don't think this is such as good idea... bunch of guys in their mid 50s singing about endless Californian summers and beach babes... no thanks.

Then again, DLR will probably clash with EVH before the album is finished, so whether or not this album will ever be released is a 50/50 deal.
