Down Bassist Rex Brown To Miss Tour Dates

Rex Brown, the bass player for the supergroup Down and former bassist of metal legends Pantera, has announced that he will be unable to take part in the first leg of Down's North American tour. A replacement for him is expected to be announced shortly.

A message from Brown reads as follows:

"It is with my deepest apologies to let you know that I will not be joining the band on the first leg of the forthcoming US/Canada tour. It has been mutually agreed upon between myself and the guys that I take this time to address some personal issues. Make no mistake I will be joining my brothers on the second leg of the tour and in the studio in the very near future. This is of utmost importance at this time. Thank you all for your support and understanding. I will see y'all really soon!

"With much respect,
Rex Brown"

Rex has been sober for two years, so it isn't rehab. I'm hearing it's some other health issues.

Smoking issues?...Rex has been a heavy tobacco user for decades! I doubt that's the reason he's laying low though. It's gotta be something REALLY personal, otherwise he would've been more specific. Then again, Rex is the type of guy who likes to have his own space and privacy.

There may be many things you can say about Phil, but he did not kill Dimebag. That was done by an insane man with a gun. Even Vinnie Paul has never said that.

I hate people who blame Phil for Dimebag's death. Blame the crazy son of a b**** who actually murdered him. It could have been Pantera up there instead of Damageplan, and that guy could've killed the whole band. Would that have made it better? NO! Dimebag died a horrible, senseless death. But, he died doing what he loved. No one should blame Phil...he didn't kill Dimebag. Nathan Gale did...and he's rotting in hell for it.
