I agree with RTB.
Enough already.
And here's my other issue.....
What horror movies that had a metal soundtrack were any good?
The Omen?
The Exorcist?
The original Halloween?
Friday the 13th?
No, no, no and no.
Horror movies that are classics had ACTUAL soundtracks.
Even Rob Zombie used the original music for Halloween, smart of him.

Personally, I enjoy the series. The last installment wasn't what i'd hoped it would be, but it wasn't horrible. I'm looking forward to 6 and hoping for the best. Especially if one of my songs is on the sound track. RTB mentions that they should have stopped at 3, but the book doesn't stop there and it's likely that the studio wrote a package deal after the success of 1 and 2. Also, it must be recognized that the director died somewhere between 2 and 3 so obviously there will be creative differences. Lastly, I completely disagree with the idea that a horror movie with a metal sound track isn't any good. I don't feel as though anyone should ever paint themselves into a corner and limit themselves to only one possibility during the creative process (i.e. well i'm making a horror movie so I can't use metal in the sound track).

post 6, the freddy vs jason movie had a decent soundtrack. had LOG, devildriver, type o negative, in flames and sepultura feat. mike patton. i think they need to stop remaking horror classics. the nightmare on elm street remake im not too excited about, Robert Englund not playing freddy, which blows. i just read that their also remaking the original Hellraiser and Child's Play. Hollywood sucks and has no more original ideas, so they remake everything. the saw movies started getting boring after part 3

Sorry, just my taste.
When I think of horror I don't think of metal or any kind of regular music.
And I don't think it's painting yourself into a corner, if anything using bands to supply your soundtrack is a lazy copout.
Sorry but I'm thinking The Omen here, how could you not love music so deliciously evil?
And BodomFan, I agree Freddy vs. Jason was decent but the music did NOT make the movie.
And yes, ENOUGH WITH THE REMAKES!!!
Another good example is the movie "Watchmen".
Great movie but why, DEAR SATAN WHY did they have to include the sone 99 red baloons???
That song has been stuck in my head the past week. It sucked then and it STILL sucks.

I don't see how people can get upset simply because a movie franchise is continuing to release movies, or a band continues to release albums. Even if the previous ones were not quite as good as the first ones, and or classics...there is no reason NOT to look forward to something new. Its new, and it could be epic. You never know with these things, you really got to give them a chance.

dont u want scary music for a horror movie soundtrack. i mean metal imagery might be scary, its not exactly the kind of stuff to set mood, the blood covered chick running through the woods looking for her recently murdered boyfriend as she's about to be murdered too. LOG just doesnt quite set the mood for me. what about the metroid theme that was creepy, but hey im just rambling.

Necrovomit: I sent "Blood Runs Red" for Saw 6. If you've heard it on our myspace page i'm sure you'd agree that it would easily set the mood of a horror movie.

post 10- Remake of Child's Play? Let me guess, Vern Troyer is going to play Chuckie!?!?!? Goddamnit I am going to be p***ed off for the rest of the day!

post 12- The song you think of for the Watchmen movie is 99 Red Balloons? Did you miss the intro to the movie or what? The director does a montage of American 20th century milestone events to the Bob Dylan song "The Times They Are A Changin" that was mesmerizing and almost moved me to tears. Granted I had about 10 IPA's before I went in and was rip roarin' stoned, but still it was the only part of the movie that Zack Snyder created that didn't come directly from the novel and it was flawless.

Jackrum: Three very good reasons: 1). They are getting paid to fulfill the contract which calls for 8 movies. 2). The book was written in the format for 8 episodes. 3). In order to properly set up #8, 6 & 7 must come first.
