Dead Shape Figure Posts New Song Online
Finnish thrash metal band Dead Shape Figure posts a new song on their MySpace page entitled "Felix Culpa."
The band discusses the song, "The song is called 'Felix Culpa' and it's the first song we composed with our drummer Mohkis when he came back last year. It's kind of a "traditional" thrashy DSF-song but with a little bit of a melodic twist. The chorus-section features some multi-harmony singing ala Alice In Chains by our singer Galzi and it came by a surprise for us that he is capable of delivering those kind of vocals... We are probably going to use that kind of singing more often in our songs so that some big label will sign us and give us a shitloads of cash so we can buy some good crack and old american cars."

New Devoid Tracks Premiered On The Flaming Skull
Indian Thrash/Death Metallers Devoid, premieres new track titled "Battle Cry" from the upcoming album which is to be released later this year, on The Flaming Skull Podcast. Joining this occassion are also bands such as India's Infernal Wrath who have also released "Behold Ezekiel", a new single off the debut record, Bangalore based Extinct Reflections and Theorized and also Bangaladesh's Gene-split premiering on The Podcast.
Going on the 3rd Episode, The Flaming Skull Podcast is India's first and only enhanced podcast which features some of the best Metal music India has to offer.
Roydon of The Flaming Skull Podcast commented: "Metal in India is an infantile entity and like any entity born in the last few decades it is malnourished. There is lack of support, lack of recognition, meagre means and lack of viable platforms to promote the metal in India. We are The Flaming Skull Podcast and we want to do something about this.
The Flaming Skull Podcast is a download-able radio show. It was an idea which was in making from around a year ago but was materialised roughly about a month back. We are two episodes old but are happy to see the overwhelming support that this initiative has achieved.
Our aims are simple. We want to do something about the underground metal scene which is screaming for attention. We saw the concept of a podcast to answer the quest for a media that our artists looked for. We also saw it as a platform to introduce new music to the existing audience.
We aren’t going to create a BANG and spread the word in one go, but we hope to gradually. We want to spread the music to people who can’t reach it. More importantly we want to spread the word of the talent behind the music, the work besides the music all of which compiles to form that which we see as ‘The Metal scene’. This is an industry, and all the facets under it SHOULD get the recognition they deserve. For those who know of the metal scene [Indian and international] – we want to get you more acquainted with what you call as ‘your scene’. For those who don’t- we want to let you know about a sub-culture that a lot of us now thrive upon and the music that makes it. We want to spread Indian underground metal to the world and international underground metal to India. We want to spread the music, not considering borders.
Now this is a macro perspective. For now we are here to spread good music and the work behind the good music. We are just people who want to do something for what they really passionate about.
We are The Flaming Skull Podcast and this is what we are here for"
Previous episodes which features bands such as India's Atmosfear, Kryptos, Bhayanak Maut, Exhumation and IIIrd Sovereign, could be downloaded and listened to, here

Cradle Of Filth Speaks On Bloodstock Incident
As was previously reported, British metal outfit Cradle Of Filth was forced to cut their set short at the Bloodstock Open Air festival after one of the members was hit by an object thrown by a member of the audience. The band has issued a statement about the incident which reads as follows:
"COF would just like to apologise to all COF fans at Bloodstock for not being able to perform the full length of set on Saturday. This was due to a selfish and stupid person in the crowd throwing dangerous objects at the band and injuring Paul, who then had to be hospitalised.
"This person threw what were being sold at the site as ‘gobstoppers’, but which were actually heavy, solid, pieces of candy, approximately the size of a cricket ball and weighing close to a pound, at the band. Approximately 6 of these were thrown, one narrowly missed hitting Ashley in the face and also a terminally ill young fan in a wheelchair sitting side of the stage, a couple just missed Dani and then one hit Paul in the spine, causing him to collapse. The paramedics called an ambulance and Paul was taken to hospital with suspected spinal damage; where he was subjected to numerous tests before the doctors said they didn’t think Paul had sustained any lasting damage.
"This act of stupidity caused the show to finish prior to the encore, caused Paul serious pain and everyone else a lot of anxiety. This person is lucky that no one was seriously injured or worse, which could easily have been the case and a serious police matter. More...

Avantasia Issues Recording Update
Tobias Sammet of Avantasia has issued the following update about Scorpions vocalist Klaus Meine recording guest vocals on an upcoming album:
"We played a couple of shows with the Scorpions here and there and they are not only the biggest and greatest Rock band ever to emerge from Germany, they are also cool Rock-n-Roll people who are aware of what's going on in the world of heavy guitars. Lately we played ....Bulgaria.... together, Edguy and the Scorpions, and I watched their full show from onstage. They kicked serious ass! Rudolf (Schenker, Scorpions) did some cool guitar work on the previous record, and now Klaus is on the forthcoming one. He has done a superb job, he opens his mouth and you immediately hear it's that cutting voice that has sung 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' and 'Blackout'! The track we did together is an anthemic mid-tempo tune, big choir chorus. And I am still speechless thinking of Klaus' performance. He is a real pro and he would still blow away 99% of all us Rock singers with a quarter of his left lung. People, get ready for a monster song!"
The Bled Signs to Rise Records
The Bled recently announced they signed to Rise Records with the following announcement.
"Today we signed a new recording contract with Rise Records. We've been talking with these dudes for awhile now and their passion for music and love for our band is undeniable. Rise is a label that is growing rapidly and is second to none in promotion and we feel lucky to jump on board with people who genuinely care about the growth of the bands they sign. The last year has been difficult for us to say the least, with member losses and money issues plaguing the future of our band. With new members, a new record written and a new label backing us, it definitely feels amazing to get a fresh start.
"A few days ago we entered OG7 studios with world renowned Nando Rivas. Things have been going really well. Very close to finishing up the drum tracks and it sounds Spectacular. We will be posting footage of the recording progress on yourtubes very soon. Check that shit because Josh rips the kit on these new jams.
"Also we are going on tour for the month of September. Check the dates and come hang if we are coming through your city. See ya soon"

Tales From The Pit: Unholy Rocks A Boxing Ring
We've been talking to bands to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week's story comes from Unholy's Billy Price.
"We played this show in NYC and midway through one of our songs this fight breaks out in the pit and these two guys start slugging it out. Theyknocked over at least 5 people rolling around going at it, get back up and start trading blows, the crowd starts to form around them creating a boxing ring type of effect. No one bothers to step in or break it up and we keep playing while these guys try to take each others heads off. Finally one of the brawlers decided he had enough and disappeared into the crowd, the winner then proceeded to finish moshing to the rest of the song! It was probably the closest we will ever get to playing a live boxing match."
Next week we'll hear about Joe Vera's exploits at a 1986 Metallica show.

Tony Iommi To Undergo Hand Surgery
Tony Iommi, best known as the guitarist of Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell, has revealed in a recent interview that he will soon be undergoing some important surgery on his hand. Some excerpts from the interview read as follows:
Q: Do you know what you’re doing after this US run?
A: "After this US run, yes, we’re going to have some time off. I’ve got to have an operation on my hand, and that’s sort of a major thing I need to get done and I’ve been putting it off now. So we’re going to have some time off while I get that done. That’ll be a bit of a break, I think. Not for everybody, but it’ll be some time off from touring for me for sure."
Q: What happened to your hand?
A: "The cartilage is gone from the thumb in my fingering hand. It’s been like that now, to be honest, for a year and I’ve been taking anti-inflammatories and all sorts of stuff to try and calm it down, but it’s inevitable I’ve got to have the operation because the bone is rubbing on the bone. Funny enough, I talked to Eddie Van Halen this morning, because he’s had the same sort of problem, so I’m seeing him to have a chat about what happened to him. He thinks it’s very successful, so we’ll see."
