Cardamon Parts Ways With Drummer, Thomas Kalksma

Dutch gothic metal band Cardamon has parted ways with their drummer, Thomas Kalksma, and announced a replacement, Michael Van Der Kolk.

The band comments, "On September 5th we would like to introduce you to our new drummer Michael van der Kolk @ De Peppel, Zeist, (with Stream of Passion). Thomas recently decided to part ways with Cardamon, wanting to focus more on his professional career. With more and more (international) gigs, the choice between career and Cardamon became increasingly difficult for him. However, we were lucky enough to find Michael, who seemed to be born ready, so we could pick up where we left. Meaning he's as ready for the road as much as we are, and we're already focusing on new material! Starting this September, Cardamon will hit the road, so make sure you come out and make him feel welcome in a way only Cardamon fans can."

Broken Teeth Reveals New Song Titles

Austin's Broken Teeth has issued the following update regarding the progress of their new album:

"In the studio and sweating blood, Broken Teeth is hammering out a new album that will crush like an anvil when it lands at the end of the year. Titled 'Viva la Rock Fantastico!' and featuring guest vocals by Canadian rock-n-roll killer, Danko Jones, the album is a fireball of scorching new tracks, including 'Exploder,' 'Spitting Nails,' 'Blackheart' and the spiked-with-tequila title track. As always, Broken Teeth will screech their rock-n-roll sermon to the metal church faithful when 'Fantastico' ignites a case of road-hard, white line fever across the U.S.A. and beyond. If you bow at the altar of Rose Tattoo, AC/DC and Rhino Bucket, you're gonna scream for Broken Teeth! "

Demon Hunter Announces Lineup Changes

Ryan Clark, Singer of Seattle metal band Demon Hunter, has issued the following update regarding the band's lineup:

"As many of you may already know, we recently announced some news regarding the future of Demon Hunter at our Huntour shows."

"Firstly, we would like to officially announce some lineup changes that we've recently undergone and will undergo in the coming months. My brother, Don, whom I started this band with in 2001, has decided to leave the band due to increasing priorities with both his home life (not least of which are his two amazing kids, my niece and nephew), and his constant workload with the design firm that he and I continue to undertake together, Invisible Creature. I'm saddened to see Don leave, as we have shared so many great times together in the band, written some amazing songs together, played in bands together since we were teenagers, and built every aspect of this band from the beginning with a shared vision. However, Don's decision to move on comes with a deep understanding on my part. As he told me recently, he will continue to be "Demon Hunter's biggest fan," as he continues to watch the band progress." More...

Starkweather Signs To Deathwish

Deathwish Inc has announced the signing of Philadelphia's Starkweather. Starkweather comments on the signing:

"It's been a long four years since our last release. In that time we've been to Europe, played some spectacular and not so spectacular shows in the States, and have written over two albums worth of new material in the bunker. After fulfilling a contractual obligation, we're finally ready to announce that we've signed with Jacob Bannon's Deathwish Inc. With a nearly two decade relationship, this union seemed like the next logical step for the sometimes difficult and idiosyncratic guys in Starkweather. Having known us for as long as he has, Jake is well aware of how obstinate, eccentric, and protective we are of what we do." More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: A Metal Video Marathon

Jon Bon Jovi alone increased acid washed denim sales by 40 percent. In the videos “Living on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” there are more ass shots of Jon than two years of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez on TMZ…There is no way the Latin kid playing the drug lord in Motley Crue’s “Dr. Feelgood” rises to the top of the underworld…I always thought it was assumed Poison wore the most spandex until I saw the number of tight changes in David Lee Roth’s “Goin Crazy”…KISS easily has the most body hair of any rock band…The song “You’ve got Another Thing Coming” by Judas Priest takes on different meaning from when I first saw it years ago… More...

Agathodaimon Cancels Nachtwache Festival

Agathodaimon has issued the following update about upcoming festival appearances:

"First of all, as you should already know, we’ll be playing this weekend at Wacken Rocks South (Saturday) and Wacken Rocks Seaside (Sunday). If you’re going there (and who’d miss the only german open air shows of Slayer, not to speak of other cool bands such as Volbeat?), be sure not to miss our shows.

"Now, some good news for our romanian friends. Rock City Festival was not fully cancelled, but postponed and will take place in another form (at Romania’s capitol Bucharest) with a different billing under the banner of „Bucharest Metal Meeting“. Most important: We’ll be there, amongst bands such as Lake Of Tears, Mayhem, Primordial etc., so check your calendar and mark Saturday, the 10th of October! We’ll inform you about further news concerning this festival soon.

"Then, on to sad news: We won’t play at the Nachtwache Festival, which was scheduled for the 12th of September. On Tuesday, we received info that we’ve been dropped off the bill due to „low pre-sales“ and that the organizer doesn’t want to risk investing the money. Though we don’t understand why they decide to inform us that late, 2 weeks prior to the gig, we also wonder if the whole festival is cancelled or just our participation, as they still advertise with our name and didn’t respond yet to our mails. So, if you planned to go there because of Agathodaimon, simply don’t, we won’t be there.

"Instead, check out our other gigs in September, at the JUZ Hängematte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg (25.09.) and the Eternal Frost Festival IV, in Naila, 26.09., which is organized by our friends of Cryptic Wintermoon who’ll have their album release party there as well. Be there, it will be fun!"

Anger As Art Reveals Track By Track Breakdown

Anger As Art has issued the following breakdown of their upcoming album "Disfigure:"

"Well, we are down to the wire. I just received notification that Disfigure will be completely mixed this weekend, mastered next week, and the masters and art layout will be en route to the label before Labor Day weekend. All but one song is mixed, and the record has far surpassed my expectations. It is really good. Keep in mind I have been sitting on some of these songs for a couple of years - as I listen to them, I am not tired of them. And I get bored very quickly. We will be releasing a song via the internet early next week - so keep an eye out here on this blog, and also at our label's website. It is time to take the lid off this album. We hope you like it.

"In the meantime, I thought I would give you a brief write up about each of the songs on the record, from my perspective. Read on, enjoy, and welcome to Anger - part 3. More...
