Gwar Announces New Album Title
Richmond, Virginia by-way-of Antarctica shock thrashers Gwar have announced details regarding the band's upcoming studio album. The album's title has been set as "Gwar's Bloody Pit of Horror" and is planned for release sometime in the fall. "Gwar's Bloody Pit of Horror" is the follow up to 2009's "Lust In Space."
Gwar Vocalist Oderus Urungus commented by saying:
"Our new album is called Bloody Pit of Horror. We are fully aware that there is a movie of the same title, I assure you it has nothing to do with it, save the title, which we stole from them. But you see, we're calling it "GWAR's Bloody Pit of Horror", and that's a little different, so hopefully we won't get sued!"
Song titles set to appear on the album include "Hail to Genocide," "Storm is Coming," and "Tick-Tits."

Unearthing The Folk Metal Underground
Each week with "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we’ll be spotlighting a few quality lesser known bands in an attempt to spread the word and expose acts that make the underground great. This week we head into a genre that combines two seemingly irreconcilable styles – traditional folk music and heavy metal. Despite what might appear like water and oil, folk music mixes exceedingly well with both traditional metal and extreme styles such as death or black metal. Folk metal is currently dominated by big names like Korpiklaani, Finntroll, and Eluveitie. Anyone who digs a little deeper will find a host of unknowns bands just as capable of making metal heads want to raise a tankard or march off to Mordor.
Tengwar
There’s a joke in the metal world about all bands being inspired by Satan, Lovecraft, or Tolkien. It turns out it’s not just the Europeans who can’t get enough of the epic “The Lord of the Rings” series, though. You can now throw Argentina on that list, with Tengwar drawing their name from the language created by Tolkien.
Tengwar starts with a base of traditional instruments, and then adds the guitars in to augment the music, showing off a huge Celtic influence that is more “folk” than “metal.” The range of instruments found in Tengwar’s music is staggering, covering the gamut of what folk can provide. Galician bagpipes, recorders, flutes, mandolins, tin whistles, and fiddles all make appearances throughout the music.
The clean vocals are done in an epic rock and roll style, keeping up the sweeping and grand ideals of the source material. In some parts the music speeds up and almost approaches a Korpiklaani-esque happy drinking atmosphere. Tengwar is currently working on a full-length album titled “The Halfling’s Rise,” and songs from the “Tengwesta Quendion” EP are available for streaming via the band’s MySpace page.
Footage of the band performing a self-titled track and the song “Bear Skin” (poor sound on this clip) can be seen below.
AC/DC Celebrating Album's 30th Anniversary
AC/DC has checked in with the following announcement about celebrating the 30th anniversary of the "Back In Black" album:
"On July 25th, 1980, AC/DC released Back In Black in the US, followed by the album's UK release on July 31. Today, the album is a record-shattering rock 'n' roll landmark, passed along from generation to generation and guaranteed a spot on the shelves of every music enthusiast not living under a rock (and some that are). But, that’s not how Back In Black started life.
"The story of how Back In Black was made and the frenzy it whipped up upon its release is every bit as captivating today as the 41 minute, 48 second, no bullshit, ribcage pounding record itself. Dedicated to the band's fallen friend and frontman, Bon Scott, recorded with then newcomer Brian Johnson, and described by Rolling Stone Magazine's David Fricke at the time as 'kick[ing] like a mutha,' Back In Black put AC/DC in households from coast to coast, ravaging their speakers in the process.
"To celebrate its 30th anniversary, we invite you to revisit the story of Back In Black, complete with videos, photos, quotes from the band, a timeline and a whole lot more at this location."

Chemical Fingerprint Checks In With Album Update
Chemical Fingerprint has issued the following update about working on a new album:
"Right now Stitch and Tyson are finishing up on writing 'Make War Not Love' and soon they will be writing a 9th song. We only have 5 songs recorded right now and once our band is full and have everything down we will record a full album and have everything sounding tighter and heavier than our current recordings.
"Our newer tracks we have been writing are heavier in our opinions and we are making a sound more complex and technical. We always try to do something different with every song so that every one sounds different. We look forward to completing this band soon so we can start playing shows and getting our music out in the world!"
DevilDriver Comments On Upcoming Album
DevilDriver's Jeff Kendrick has issued the following recap of recent tour dates and information about the band's upcoming album:
"Have been back for about five days and am about to go to the airport again to fly to Boston to visit family in a few hours. I wanted to personally thank our European fans and all attendees in general for our very successful European tour that we just completed. Everything was amazing, even despite the fact that Jon Miller had to return to the United States early.
"Thanks to our great tour manager Aaron 'Bubble' Patrick and our long time friend and bad ass guitar tech Dave Burke for stepping in. I had a very interesting time in Europe post-Pneumonia which found me doing the tour completely sober. it was an interesting experience but a positive one nonetheless. Our record commences mixing with the legendary Andy Sneap here in a short period and I cannot wait for everyone to hear it! Fucking amazing and our best yet!
"Next up: Ozzfest main stage! I cannot wait to head out and rock the 6 date Ozzfest and the surrounding dates throughout the US and Canada. Going to be fucking awesome! This will probably be the last tour for 'Pray For Villains' as our new album will be dropping in February roughly. Anyways, gotta run to the airport once again. Everyone be safe and have a killer weekend!"

French act Glorior Belli has issued the following announcement about performing an upcoming show in Paris alongside Ramesses and Eibon:
"For the first time since 2005, Glorior Belli responded positively to playing in Paris, assuring this would be a night to remember as Glorior Belli only make a few special live appearances each year. Their latest record 'Meet Vs At The Southern Sign' was released in June 2009 by Candlelight Record.
"Spawned in the bleak woodland of Dorset, England, Ramesses is a three-piece that has been disfiguring the innards of its army of devoted listeners since 2003 when original Electric Wizard drummer Mark Greening and guitarist Tim Bagshaw hooked up with Adam Richardson (bass + vox). 'Take the Curse', Ramesses' second album, was released in the first semester of 2009 via Ritual Productions.
"So load up your haversack and hit the dusty road, for the real devil's pact is about to be signed on September the 12th!" More...

Therion Announces Touring Bassist
Therion's Christofer Johnsson has issued the following statement about recruiting a touring bassist:
"Now that we have posted Nalle(y)’s message to the fans, I'll give some comments on it myself. Naturally, it may sound worrisome that there has been announced two changes in the live line-up in such a short time frame. But the Nalle situation is not something that has happened recently; we have known this could be the case since last year and we have had a replacement ready for months.
"Nalle told us immediately about his new family situation in the beginning of the year and given the fact he periodically had really tough drinking problems, we thought it was the right thing to do, to stay away from long tours and deal with the problems and be home with the kids instead. The band can always get somebody else to play the bass, but his kids only have one dad. And they need him in good shape. Some things are simply more important in life than heavy metal and beer. We also applaud his bold decision to start studying at his age, so that he will have options other than music for making a living in the future. Kudos!
"The reason we waited with announcing this was that we wanted to play these Mexican shows and European festivals with Nalle and avoid the funeral atmosphere of everyone knowing someone is about to leave (or take a break, as in this case). More...

Vader front man Peter Wiwczarek has checked in with the following recap of the band's recent run of tour dates:
"Another three successful festivals are behind us. Pretty exhaustive weekend, thousands of kilometers we spent on the road, first bus, then plane, bus and again. Fortunately we managed to appear on these three stages and play pretty cool shows. If someone is disappointed, because of the canceled interviews, because we had no chance to meet the fans after the show - a very sorry!
"But sometimes we were not able, like on the Rock Harz Festival and Seven, where almost straight from the bus, after a grueling journey we had to jump on stage and play the show! Now we free and finally we have a chance to get some rest. We will be back in late August! VADERized Stay!"

We are part of this universe and we use its planets to navigate, to tune our lives through the 'time' set by their motion, and who knows, may be to escape to some day in the future."
The album was recorded in various places with Soundlodge (Germany) being the main studio. Cathedral Announces Special London Show
British doom metal veterans Cathedral has announced that they will be performing a very special show for one night only on December 3rd at the 02 Academy in Islington. The show will feature two sets from the band, the first performing the entirety of their landmark debut album and doom metal classic "Forest Of Equilibrium," where Lee Dorrian (vocals) and Garry Jennings (guitar) will be joined by the recording line up Mark "Griff" Griffiths (bass), Adam Lehan (guitar) and Mike Smail (drums.) This will be followed by a second set of songs performed by the current line up of Lee Dorian, Garry Jennings, Brian Dixon and Leo Smee.
Vocalist Lee Dorrian explains: "Cathedral has come along way since those dirge-ridden smoke-filled, cheap lager and sweat infested early rehearsals back in 1990. To be brutally honest, back then we never imagined that we would have continued on a twenty year journey and still be here to tell the tale. A lot of bands that have been around this long tend to shy away from their roots, in favour of more ‘accessible’ material that they wrote in their “maturing” stages. Well, despite the fact that we may have expanded on our sound and style since those early days, we are certainly not embarrassed by our origins, in fact the opposite is true. To commemorate (Commiserate?) this twenty year marathon, we thought it would be a cool idea to regroup the line up of our first studio album for a special one-off show, and perform it in it’s entirety. Fortunately, everyone from those days agreed. This will mark the beginning of the evening, which will be followed by a set of material post-Forest bringing us right up to date with our latest album, The Guessing Game. We are excited about this event and look forward to seeing you there."

Conspires To... Premieres New Song Online
U.K. heavy metal duo Conspires To... has premiered their latest song, "Falling Down," exclusively on Metalunderground.com. The song is available for streaming or as a free MP3 download below.
The band is comprised of vocalist Wayne Stokes and Lee Macey, who plays all instruments on the album.
Multi-instrumentalist Lee Macey comments on the song: "For Falling Down we slowed things down a bit and added an industrial vibe, all leading to a heavier overall sound, yet still retaining some of the atmospherics of the other material. The track is about all about the fragility of the mind. How once you have been knocked back and have seemingly recovered, it can only takes something small and insignificant to lead to you falling down again."
You can check out some more Conspires To... music on their MySpace page, including the recently revealed track "Allegiance."
