Virus Issues New Album Update

Norway's Virus has checked in with the following update about self-releasing a third full-length album:

"As previously announced on Myspace, Virus have parted ways with Season Of Mist and will take care of the release of our third album ourselves. We are just about to start mixing the album and are looking at a late (preferrably November) 2010 release. However, since we no longer have a label contributing to the studio costs (SOM covered some, but not all, of the studio costs of The Black Flux), we have decided to let you, our fans be 'a part' of completing this album.

"As of now, you can preorder the upcoming album The Agent That Shapes The Desert on vinyl, cd and as a special 'fan package' including a cd, a signed and hand numbered lp, a limited EP and a t-shirt. We have not set a release date in stone yet, due to the simple fact that it all depends on economy. The more preorders we get, the quicker we will be able to complete and print the album.

"This release will be a co-release between Virulent Music (our own label) and Duplicate Records (Einz’ label) which will help with distribution and promotion. This means we basically do everything ourselves, with only some studio support from a few trust funds. We basically have to cover everything else (additional studio time, mastering, printing and promoting the album) ourselves. More...

Earth Crisis Comments On Walter Bond's Arrest

Vegan, straight-edge band Earth Crsis wrote the song "To Ashes" about Walter Edmund Bond, who has now been arrested and charged with burning down a sheepskin factory. Guitarist Scott Crouse further has commented on the situation:

"Recently Walter, the man whose actions inspired our song ‘To Ashes,’ has been arrested on alleged arson charges. Our motivation behind writing the song ‘To Ashes’ was to show the passion and frustration of a man who reached his boiling point. The extremes that Walter went to save his brother’s life we find inspiring, mainly because they were acts of property destruction against his adversaries, not acts of violence. We wanted to simply document what many in the straight edge community already deemed as a heroic and selfless action. Regarding Walters current arrest, we don't have much to say since right now they are merely accusations until he is proven guilty.

"We were also beyond disappointed that we didn't get a chance to play last Sunday at The Sound and Fury Festival. It was a weekend of canceled flights, wondering if all the members would even make it out here and three trips to LAX. Hey, at least we can all say we saw a motorcycle in the pit right?

"So far we have about four new songs written and are hoping to start working on vocals this fall. The plan is to have 10 new songs and re-record a few older songs that are live set staples. We are hoping to start recording in January 2011 with an as of yet undetermined producer."

There's almost a pop feel near the end where both James' vocals and my vocals start layering in different ways. Lyrically, the song is about dealing with the loss of a loved one."

London's The Defiled has checked in with the following update about recruiting a new bass player:

"Well, the life style that we lead in The Defiled has taken its toll on one of our brothers... It is with great regret that today we finally announce that Drex has decided to leave the band. His decision to leave was made quite a few months ago, hence why we have been so quiet in the first half of 2010. All the members will miss him for different reasons but I think he was the voice of reason and the only member that ever brought any kind of normality to the band.

"It's not all doom and gloom in the camp though! We happened to meet a reprobate called Vincent Hyde that is mentally ill enough to step up and take his rightful place in The Defiled. He’s been rehearsing with us these past few months, and we are going to be showing off our brand new sick little puppy this Sunday at Sonisphere, come get some!"
