Metallica Announces 30th Anniversary Shows
Metallica has checked in with the following announcement about a series of upcoming 30th anniversary shows exclusively for Metallica fan club members:
"Thirty years of Metallica... can you believe it? We think it's cause for a major celebration! You've been asking for a while now 'just what the hell are you going to do to mark 30 years as a band?' closely followed by 'why don't we have more exclusive shows for Fan Club members?' We've heard you loud and clear and are beyond psyched to announce that the week of December 5, 2011 will be a full on Metallica week in the Bay Area, more specifically we will be playing four shows for Met Club members only at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco on December 5, 7, 9, and 10 to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
"These unique shows will include special guests and events, rare songs, varied set lists, odds and ends, and all the nutty stuff you expect from Metallica... fun for the entire family! Come to the Bay Area and spend the week with us to not only close out 2011 out with a bang, but to celebrate over three decades worth of craziness.
"Participate in the entire week of festivities with special four pack tickets (one ticket for each of the four shows) and automatic entry into the contests for various other special events, available for the clever price of $19.81 (get it??).
"If you can't join us for the full week, we'll have individual show tickets too and as you can see we're going back to early '80's ticket pricing (but not the hair!)... single show tickets will be just $6.00 each. Both four packs and individual show tickets will be available for Fan Club members only through a reservation system and we do have to add facility fees, blah, blah. Clubbers can log in for all the details... we're taking reservations through August 8.
"Hope to see you for a week of madness in December!"
Details on the Metallica fan club are available by heading over to this location.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster to Release "IV"
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster will release "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: IV" on September 27 on Ferret Music.
The hard rock group's forthcoming recording was produced by Brian Virtue (Jane's Addiction, Deftones, Audioslave). Forefather's Group (Children of Bodom, In Flames, Between the Buried and Me) designed the cover art. The lyrics continue the concept of Maylene as 1920s prohibition gangsters from a real-life crime family.
"As humans, we play things so safe and everything "makes sense" or is "figured out" and is how it's supposed to be," said Taylor. "I hope it will make people question their lives and how they do things, and make people realize what they have. It is definitely a new band now with a new drive. This is the most serious thing we've ever done and the most grown-up record I've ever made in my life. I think it will surprise a lot of people who were into Maylene before. It is a very dark record, but it's the most truthful and heartfelt thing I have done in my life."
The track listing for "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: IV" is as follows:
1.) In Dead We Dream
2.) Save Me
3.) Faith Healer (Bring Me Down)
4.) Open Your Eyes
5.) Killing Me Slow
6.) Taking on Water
7.) Fate Games
8.) Come for You
9.) Never Enough
10.) Cat's Walk
11.) Drought of '85
12.) Off to the Laughing Place
Solution .45 Reveals "Lethean Tears" Video
Metal Injection has teamed up with Solution .45 to premier a new video for the track "Lethean Tears." You can check out the video in the player below. Here is what frontman Christian Älvestam has to say about the video:
"This video is basically a visual wrap-up of everything we've done so far, as a band, since the start. Several shots featured come from footage filmed a long time prior to the video (material that will re-appear in their entirety, in the 'the making of For Aeons Past'-clips that will follow, in time) and some of it was filmed exclusively, with the video in mind! Style-wise, we wanted to try to capture that naked old-school feeling that a lot of rock-videos and 'behind the scenes' documenteries used to capture so well back in the day. Many videos of today I think lack that genuine feeling, being more just about green-screens, computer-animations and whatnot and not so much about trying to get the heart and soul of the band across!
"Personally, I've always been a sucker for the more raw and honest stuff, where you get the feeling of almost being a part of the band - where you get to experience all the different sides, regardless of its nature. For example, I've always loved videos like Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters,' their two documentaries '1½ years in the life of Metallica' and the three Vulgar videos that Pantera put out. The stuff where you get to see and know the band, as they are, doing what they do! In short, this video is just us being who we are and whether you like it or not, you just have to deal with it! Enjoy!"

The Rockstar Ramblings: 1986 M/F/K
25 years ago hard rock and glam albums found regular rotation on the radio and pop culture thanks to MTV, Circus Magazine, and eighties culture. 1986 was riding the fringe of hair band saturation, but also the year Metallica and Megadeth put out timeless efforts. Since 1986 we have seen the grunge era, the boy band era, and the release of St. Anger. We’ve seen it all in the last 25 years.
Here’s a look back at ten of these classic albums in no particular order. There is a twist as Marry/Fuck/Kill rules apply. It’s as simple as it sounds. M (Marry) is a song you want to “save” and listen to forever, F (Fuck) is the song you get one more listen to and that is it, and K (Kill) is the song you want to go away and never be heard from again.
Master of Puppets (Metallica)
M: Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
F: Damage, Inc.
K: The Thing That Should Not Be

Powerglove Releases "Batman" Music Video
International video game metal act Powerglove has revealed the brand new music video for "Batman," the lead track off the band's latest release "Saturday Morning Apocalypse," which came out late last year.
Guitarist Chris Marchiel offers his own explanation: "David Brodsky and I just finished our music video for Batman. In typical POWERGLOVE fashion we did things a little differently. After shooting our green screen performance footage we captured tons of 'sprite' images of ourselves in the style of Mortal Kombat then processed those into full sets of 16 bit action moves. Then, instead of just animating those, I programmed several video game fight scenarios with the band as playable characters and recorded takes of me playing through the mini games. The result is a combination of green screen performance in original 16 bit environments, traditional sprite based animation and recorded gaming sequences and the end result is silly, unique and just plain fun.
The band is currently shredding on this year's SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour supporting THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and WHITECHAPEL alongside SIX FEET UNDER and DYING FETUS. Here are the latest Summer Slaughter tour dates: More...

Wolf Posts New Music Video Online
Swedish heavy metal outfit Wolf has posted a new music video online for the song, "Skull Crusher." You can check it out below. The video was filmed in Dublin, Republic Of Ireland and the song comes from the group's latest studio album, "Legion Of Bastards."
Niklas Stålvind (vocals and guitars) comments: "We have never had so much fun making a video as we had on this one. Smashing a car into smithereens is something we always wanted to do without cleaning up after us or get in trouble with the police. It was the best exercise/therapy you could ever wish for. I felt like I was 10 kilos lighter in both body and spirit afterwards. We had to work hard to demolish it good. A Volvo is made in Sweden and hard to tear apart - just like this Heavy Metal band. This one is for all the skull crushing metal heads out there - We salute you!" More...
