Majesty To Release 2-CD Set

Massacre Records has issued the following announcement about the return of Majesty and the release of the "Own the Crown" 2-CD set:

"Majesty is back! 'Own The Crown' is the long awaited comeback album of Majesty containing two CDs packed with immortal heavy metal hymns. On the first disc you find all the greatest Majesty hits of the band's career so far.

"Besides of the two new songs 'Own The Crown' and 'Metal On The Road' the second CD will feature lots of rare songs and re-recorded material which most of the fans have never heard before. Among other things you find a re-recorded version of the ballad 'Snow Is On The Mountains' which was originally released in 1999 on the 'Metal Monarchs' demo.

"As a unique special the first demo tape, which is out of stock for years, will also be on the CD.
In total 28 breathtaking tracks are on the 2CD box set which will be in stores for a single CD price. The elaborately designed booklet featuring liner notes from Tarek for every single song and never seen photo material is also very worth mentioning. Also don't forget to attend the comeback concert on September 3rd at the Turnhalle in 97941 Tauberbischofsheim - Dittigheim, Germany."

Vocalist Tarek also released the following statement: "With this statement I want to tell all fans, friends and partners that we decided that it is time for Majesty to officially come back to the glorious Heavy Metal world. It might sound strange to some of you that after only three years when we said that the band is not existent anymore we return but I really want to try to explain to you all the thoughts, feelings and economic reasons which led to that decision.

"I know that many of you were shocked when we put Majesty to sleep in 2008 and I can never properly explain you the exact reasons why we did that step and honestly, I donŽt even know them myself. The only thing I know is that it was a decision which hurt the feelings of many dedicated and loyal fans standing together with us side by side through the years.
I know that a bright future lies before us now and we will try to play as many shows as possible all over the planet and finally do again what we were born for: Heavy Metal Our strength and our religion."

"Own The Crown" is going to be released worldwide on September 2nd, 2011.

Mikael Akerfeldt Discusses New Album "Heritage"

RadioMetal.com conducted an interview with Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt shortly before the band's recent performance at Hellfest, which was held last month in Clisson, France. Åkerfeldt discusses the band's new record Heritage (out September 20), the departure of keyboardist Per Wiberg, more. Excerpts from the interview can be found below.

Says Åkerfeldt about "Heritage," "If you want to compare it to another band, it has to be us. But still, it's different. For me, it kind of makes sense, because I've been doing this for such a long time. So it's not a massive departure for me and for the guys in the band. But for fans, if they are, for example, into My Arms, Your Hearse, it might be a bit different. But I'm hoping that a lot of people are ready for this type of album from us. The music is all over the place. It's hard to define the album and say it sound like this or like that. There are no songs that represent more the album than any other songs. It's an album as whole. You can't listen to only one song and you'll know what the album is going to be like."

Mikael also commented on the departure of Per, "He was fired. But he was going to leave any ways because he wasn’t happy with us. It’s not like we weren’t friends but I don’t think he felt comfortable playing keyboards with this style of music. He’s more into blues/rock and things like that. He’s got a few projects that he’s been working on over the years. I think he feels more comfortable doing other form of music."

The "Heritage" artwork and track listing can also be found after the jump. More...

Sarabante To Release Limited Edition Debut Album

Breaking out of Greece’s capital city of Athens comes crust/hardcore act Sarabante, which has teamed up with Southern Lord Recordings for a limited edition CD release of the band’s first full-length, "Remnants." A statement from the band's publicist reads as follows:

"Sarabante’s existence was brought to the attention of Southern Lord by Brad Boatright of From Ashes Rise/Lebanon, who in the end mastered the band’s 'Remnants' debut. The volatile act bears the same burning intensity as the legendary From Ashes Rise and Tragedy, and integrates elements of early Neurosis and other more morose and slower-tempo acts. After enduring the eleven tracks in under thirty four minutes on the album, it’s clear that one of the primary focal points of the Sarabante is their consistent execution of infectious melodies throughout each politically-charged anthem."

Set for release on July 19th, "Remnants" will see a limited edition production of 1,000 machine-numbered copies as part of the ongoing underground Southern Lord CD series alongside Planks, Acephalix, Xibalba, Drainland, Alpinist and more.

Redemption Finishes New Album

California's Redemption has checked in with the following announcement about finishing the band's upcoming new album:

"This Mortal Coil is finished!

"I'm pleased to announce that after what can only be described as a very challenging production experience that threw every possible curve ball at us, we have finished the record. Fortunately Neil kept a steady hand at the tiller through rough waters but it really tested us all: computer failures, internet failures, missing files, strange 'ghost in the machine' type elements, scheduling challenges, lightning strikes (I'm not kidding), etc.

"At any rate, the masters are in the hands of the label. Now we just wait for it to be released! Hope you all enjoy it."

Mayan Posts Second Part Of Album Breakdown

In the second of three installments, members of the Dutch symphonic death metal band Mayan offer more insight into the tracks that comprise the band’s debut album, "Quarterpast," which is set for North American release on July 12th.

Track 05 | The Savage Massacre (In the eyes of the law: Pizzo) “Ariën [van Weesenbeek, MAYAN & EPICA drummer] was drenched after recording this one! He had no time to practice; he only listened to the pre-production in the studio and nailed it in no time! Laura [Macrì], the opera talent from Italy, has a big role in this song with her Italian lyrics. It's a heavy song with a atmospherical mid-part.”

Track 06 | Essenza Di Te “Just pressed ‘record’ and let Jack [Driessen, MAYAN keyboard player] play something spontaneously, then let [guest vocalist] Laura [Macrì] do her thing. This is what happened in the end. The demo version was called ‘Perfume.’ Check out the movie [http://www.youtube.com/movie?v=xRFvShphoGE&feature=mv_sr], as it inspired us for this song.”

Track 07 | Bite The Bullet “Only now did Frank’s guitar need a new set of strings. Used two sets for the whole album, didn’t need more. About 30 picks were used in total, though. This is the song where [guest vocalist] Henning [Basse of SONS OF SEASONS] shines. We call it, therefore ‘The Henning Song’ as well. He shows in this song what he's able to do with his voice: raw parts, soft parts and choir harmonies.”

Track 08 | Drown The Demon “First studio song ever on which Floor Jansen [REVAMP, ex-AFTER FOREVER] and Simone Simons [of EPICA] sing together! [Drummer] Ariën’s voice got put after the song, recorded as a joke, but we decided to keep it. Sorry Ariën!”

Nightfall Issues Music Video Update

Nightfall has issued the following update about the band's upcoming music video for "Astron Black:"

"Nightfall's Astron Black video clip has entered the editing process. The expected day of release is September 1st.

"Yet again the concept is full of symbolism based on ancient Greek Gods and Deities among other holy and unholy creatures.

"Neither the director Achilleas Gatsopoulos nor the band wanted to repeat the schemes and techniques applied in Ambassador of Mass video that was purely based on shadow puppet theatre.

"There is no reason trying to repeat a successful thing unless you do it for the money; this is not the issue here. The challenge of creation is priceless and we strictly do it for the art thing of it.
Be sure to check out some shots from the video here!"
