Conquest Of Steel Comments On New 7" Single
Conquest of Steel has issued the following statement about the band's new 7" single "Victorious in Defeat:"
"Recorded almost entirely live, these three tracks see the band moving away from the gravitas of their conceptual opus (Storm Sword – Rise of the Dread Queen) and re-discovering their metal roots with 'Paid in Steel'. 'Man of the Dragon' sees the band embracing the 'rock' in honour of their mentor and guide Ronnie James Dio and One Thousand Lives (of war) is pure adoration of the riff.
"These tracks featuring the bands best production to date (Greg Chandler, Priory Studios and Esoteric frontman) are bound to blow speakers around the globe! The Vinyl also features a live rendition of the classic 'I am Legend', from the bands sophomore release 'Hammer and Fist'. Mere mortals, wimps and posers beware! The True Metal Warriors have come to slay!
"The release is strictly limited to 333 hand numbered copies and is pressed on Blood Red Vinyl set inside a deluxe gatefold sleeve, with full colour inlay. Each copy comes with a hand-printed Conquest of Steel Patch and limited edition Plectrum.
"For wimps and posers, a 'vinyl style' CD is also enclosed within the package."

Abigail Williams Writing New Album
Abigail Williams has nearly completed the writing phase on material that is planned for the band’s new album and follow-up to "In the Absence of Light" (reviewed here), which is expected for release in early 2012. The band is looking forward to testing out some of the new songs later next month when it returns to stateside venues for a string of dates that is set to begin August 25th in Las Vegas and conclude when the band performs alongside Morbid Angel in Los Angeles on September 23rd.
Band leader Sorceron commented on recent European tour dates, "The shows were excellent. We had a great time with our friends in Iskald and Thulcandra and hope we can join them again in the future. A big thanks to everyone who came out to the shows; we really appreciate your support. The upcoming dates have us headlining in the west including the Rocky Mountain Goat Roast; we are co-headlining the fest with Misery Index. The Scottsdale show has us sharing the stage once more with ex-hometown friends Vehemence and Landmine Marathon. And what more can I say about playing with Morbid Angel other than how awesome it will be to finally share the stage with a band we grew up listening to?"
Sorceron also said of the upcoming album, "the new material is a continuation of our last album but with more atmosphere and far more extreme tempos. We are adding back some of the symphonic elements that were on In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns album but without sacrificing any of the edge that was on In the Absence of Light. So far we are really happy with everything."

World Under Blood Posts Second Track Breakdown
Deron Miller, the guitarist/vocalist World Under Blood, has released the second part of the track-by-track description for the band's debut album, "Tactical." You can find the second part below, or head over to the first part here. "Tactical" is due out on July 26th (North America) and July 29th, 2011 (Europe).
4. DEAD AND STILL IN PAIN
The first official World Under Blood song written and probably the most accessible. It got a tremendous reaction when it was streamed on MySpace in 2006. I was really happy with it and was excited to forge ahead and see what else we would come up with for a full-length album. Lyrically it hits close to home because it's about depression and extreme anxiety and just not knowing what to do with yourself or where to turn. The ending riff, to me, is really sad. After that long ass scream it feels like the song ends on a sad note, which I'm very fond of. Tim Yeung plays the keyboards at the end, and I believe the bass at the end too.
5. PURGATORY DORMITORY
This was the last song written for Tactical and when i heard the demo i was worried that it was going to be the album's only throwaway track. Once we laid it down for the record, it turned into one of my favorites. It's about numbing every nerve in a criminal's body, blinding and deafening them, and leaving them with just their brain... to think and to suffer. What would that be like? I think that we should experiment on rapists and murderers and find out all the things we've ever wanted to know about the human body...much like the medical field experiments on rats and other animals. We could correct and cure a lot of diseases and problems if we started using worthless humans as the subjects. Non-stop speed and brutality. not much melody this time. fine with me.
6. UNDER THE AUTUMN LOW
The 2nd song we wrote, and the ruff mix ended up on MySpace. Some people, such as myself have something called S.A.D...."seasonal affective disorder"....mine has hit me every other year from August until December since I was 19. Basically , these people get severely depressed during a certain season, usually autumn. Many have problems during winter as well. I'm very proud of the riffs and arrangements in this song and I love the trade off of solos between me and James Murphy. I've been dreaming of trading off with Murphy since i was 11, and this song made it happen. The funny thing is, I am no lead guitarist, but I pull of some pretty cool licks. I also dig the scream at the end, no tricks, no pro-tools or punch in's...It really is that long. Tim's fills and drumming on this one are just out of fucking control and amazing.

I Set My Friends On Fire Releases New Music Video
I Set My Friends On Fire has unleashed a new music video for the track "It Comes Naturally" from their latest album, "Astral Rejection," released June 21st on Epitaph Records. The record’s second single, "It Comes Naturally" is "a cathartic slab of syncopated progressive metal interlaced with ultra modern pop choruses." The comedic science fiction-esque video for the song was shot on the streets of Los Angeles in partnership with friend, band co-founder and ex-member Nabil Moo.
“Matt and Chris approached me with a concept for a music video and asked me if I would be interested in shooting it,” Moo explains. “We wanted to pay homage to many of our favorite eighties movies, most notably ‘Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure,’ while also keeping in line with the band's unique sense of humor. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I hope that fans of ISMFOF will enjoy the quirky and unusual nature of the video, as well as the band's trip through the wormhole.”
I Set My Friends On Fire is currently on the Van’s Warped Tour. Here are their latest tour dates: More...
