Crown The Lost Lead Guitarist Joe Bonaddio Departs
Crown The Lost has announced that lead guitarist/vocalist Joe Bonaddio has left the band to pursue other interests. Guitarist and founding member David E. Gehlke commented: "I'd be remiss if we didn't speak of Joe's impact on the band, especially on a pure musical level, as he was a key driver in practically all of our existing compositions. I have had the good fortune of playing with Joe for nine years and can safely say his talent is one-of-a-kind, and while it's going to be odd to no longer be playing with him, this change is utterly necessary for us to be able to move forward and achieve new plateaus. We remain very good friends with Joe and wish him the best in his pursuits."
Dave Watson of Mantic Ritual will be filling in on all live dates until a permanent lead guitarist is secured. Watson is no stranger to Crown the Lost, having produced/engineered the band's last two albums
Crown The Lost's new album, "Cold Pestilent Hope" (reviewed here) was just recently released and is available on all major digital retailers for the price of $6 USD.

Elitists Are Killing Heavy Metal?
A YouTube user named "iAMVyt" has posted a video clip online discussing the idea that metal elitism is causing the downfall of the entire genre, and that there cannot truly be an "underground" scene in the age of Facebook. Take a gander at the video clip, and feel free to share your thoughts on metal elitism and what it means to be "underground" in the comments section below. "iAMVyt" also commented on the clip:
"This is just a short video covering a couple of my beliefs about metal elitists. No, this is not criticizing everyone who enjoys metal. It is not criticizing everyone who identifies themselves as a 'metalhead.' It is not criticizing everyone who has a strong belief in anything involving music or metal.
"It is criticizing what I believe to be foolish views and opinions. If you do not agree with my opinions, that is FINE. If you are a metalhead and find that this video does not describe you... You are not a metal elitist."
Acherontas Announces New Album Release
Greece's Acherontas has issued the following announcement about completing the recording of "Vamachara," the band's new album:
"After 183 hours of recordings, the new opus of Acherontas 'Vamachara' is in hands of Agonia Records. After many changes in line up for the good of the band, new contracts with labels & months of working the music & the philosophical concept behind, for us this was a great challenge of will to overcome our previous releases and rise our art in other dimension of creativity and spirituality.
"I am proud to announce that the goal had achieved! For sure, this is the most complete
& professional release of the band these 15 years of existence. Now Darkness has a different form...
"Vamachara streches back to the buried past, regressing back when the female archetype was worshiped through the Cult of Vama, the falsely so-called excremental, cast-out, left overs of spiritual practice, labelled as such by unaccomplished followers of the Solar Gods. The lunar waters shall possess the soul essence with the blood current of immortality, pushing the adept towards self excellence through the imbibation of the nectar of Salvation that is Amrita, through ordeals of black Al-Khemy. The vultures on infertile grounds of the desert cry LA ILAHA ILA ANA, and you shall kneel to drink from the cup of the fornication of the priestess-either dust or fire. Enter the Womb of the Black Moon and be reborn.
"The new Acherontas full-length features 7 hymns of glorious black metal, featuring 2 tracks by Scorpios Androctonus. Out through Agonia Records on 31 of October 2011 in Europe & USA. It will be out as: double gatefold LP, digipack CD, and special merch as zippers, hoodies & tshirts will take place. Let the feathers of Abraxas reflect the function of Samsara."
