Noctem Working On New Album

Noctem will be composing new material this summer 2010 for their followup to “Divinity.” This new album will be the second part of the trilogy that started with "Divinity." The tittle of the album, lyrical content and cover of it will be revealed soon. In the meantime you can check out some of Noctem's music on their MySpace player.

Impaled Nazarene Part Ways With Guitarist

Finnish experimental black metal act Impaled Nazarene have announced that they have decided to part ways with guitarst Jarno Anttila. Jarno Anttila had been with the band for 18 years but has left on good terms.

Impaled Nazarene commented by saying:
"First things first; After 18 years, Anttila has stepped aside from Impaled Nazarene. There is no drama or bullshit involved. Jarno is simply too busy with his work and family. Cheers and beers to Jarno for sticking with us that long. Jarno's departure does not affect our plans. We will continue as a four-piece."

Impaled Nazarene have also announced the titled for their upcoming studio album. The titled has been set as "Road To The Octagon" and is scheduled for release in November 2010 through Osmose Productions.

All That Remains Confirms Festival Appearance

Springfield, Massachusetts metalcore act All That Remains have confirmed thier appearance for the upcoming Woodshock festival. The Woodshock music festival is set to take place August 13th and 14th, 2010 at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio. All That Remains are headlining the second day, Saturday August 14th, with dirst support from Straight Line Stitch.

Solace and Stable Posts New Song To Myspace

Kansas City, Missouri progressive metallers Solace and Stable have uploaded a brand new song titled "Control" to their myspace page. The comes off of the band's upcoming studio ablum "The Systematic Erosion Of Integrity" which is due sometime near the end of 2010. "The Systematic Erosion Of Integrity" is the follow up to their 2009 release "Adaption and the Seclusive Remedy."

Conspires To... Comments On Songs

U.K. based act band Conspires To... has issued the following comments on the inspiration for the band's songs:

"The mind works in mysterious ways. Sometimes I can go weeks with no inspiration, then get hit with loads of ideas at once. The inspiration can last a day or two, or for months, it all seems pretty random, and I could never really work out where the ideas were coming from. Then I started to have some really vivid and seemly random dreams, which would wake me up and leaving me thinking 'what was that all about.'

"I would mention this to my wife, who would start to offer suggestions as to what might have been the catalyst for these nocturnal visions. These ranged from pretty obvious things like, the movie we watched before we went to bed, to something someone had said, or somewhere we had been. Things sometimes tracked back to really innocuous and seemingly irrelevant happening.

Anyway this started me thinking about where some of my songs were coming from. Allegiance was started by the General Election and the World Cup, although I did n't directy have this in mind when I wrote it. Kill the King came to me whils mowing the lawn, probably nothing to do with that, although may it have had some parallel's with Stephen King's Lawn Mower man, but thinking back I had had a particularly crap week at work.....well it speaks for itself really. Decadence Posts Third Tour Report

Sweden's Decadence has checked in with a third tour report from the band's time in Venezuela. An excerpt from the report follows:

The concert was over and the huge adrenalin rush from the night before had eased. The day after was a day of pure chill-out. We in Decadence met in the morning for breakfast and then we headed straight for the pool! It was great to know that we had the whole day to do whatever we wanted. We stayed by the pool for a couple of hours until Roberto and Jorge from our crew arrived. We took it easy, talked and after a while we had some new plans going! Later that evening our Venezuelan Street Team would come to our hotel and hang out. Other than that we wanted to see more of Caracas during the next-coming days so we decided to head up to the mountains for one day and also see some more of the city during the other days. We also had two photoshoots planned, one for the Cancer Foundation to be done at Hard Rock Café in Caracas and the other for promo shots in a modified hotel room! Our last day in Venezuela was already reserved for the Decadence Goodbye Party at a local pub.

After so many hours of chill-out by the pool we all looked like lobsters. The Street Teamers arrived later during the evening, Hirax joined in and we had lots of fun the rest of that night! The next day we met Jorge and he took us to some Venezuelan shopping malls – much different to what we’re used to in Europe! We were at the El Tolon mall and stayed and took some coffee and tea at Havanna Café at the mall CC San Ignacio (where the Meet n’ Greet was held before).

Megadeth Working On New Album

In a recent interview with Free! Magazine, Megadeth's Shawn Drover revealed that the band has begun working on ideas for a new full-length album. An excerpt from the interview can be found below.

What about your last album “Endgame”? How happy are you with it – musically and commercial wise?

Shawn: We’re very happy with it. In terms of success – the way things are with the Internet downloading and stealing music it can’t be compared to earlier time when records sold platinum – times have changed. That’s the way life is and how the music industry is right now. Bands don’t sell as much as they used do which sucks but its (the “Endgame” album”) very critically acclaimed record, many people really love it, our fans love it. As long as we have fans there actually isn’t anything to worry about. And we get new fans every time. We just keep doing our best and hoping for the best. And the sales have been down for everybody. But I still consider this album a success.

I read that you are working on a new album and it should be out in 2011. Is that right?

Shawn: We’re talking about it. We have been in a tour mode at the moment but we have started to work on a couple of ideas. But just very few ideas only. During a sound check we recorded a few ideas but we’re going to finish this world tour and then come together and start working out these ideas. We hope it will be out next year but we’ll see how things will go.

Sunday Old School: The Exploited

The relationship between punk rock and heavy metal has been one containing as much respect as it does rivalry. While many fans of both genres have criticised the other for varying reasons, there's no doubt that without punk, the variation that we enjoy in today's metal music wouldn't exist. After the first wave of punk in the seventies, a harsher, angrier form of the music would begin in both the United States, and the United Kingdom. Of all the bands in the U.K., Scotland's The Exploited were regarded as one of the best and their influence can be heard as much today in metal, as it can in punk.

The band was formed in 1979 in the Scotish capital of Edinburgh and began gaining more of a following when vocalist Terry Buchan was removed from the band, being replaced by his older brother Walter aka Wattie, who had just returned home after serving in the British army. The band quickly formed their own label and released their debut EP, "Army Life" soon after, which spent more than 18 months in the top 20 of the British independent charts. They gained more independent success afterwards with such singles as "Barmy Army" and "Dogs Of War," which have since gone on to become staples of the band's live shows. The Exploited then proved that they were not just a singles band in 1981, when they released their first album, "Punk's Not Dead." With it's iconic title and vicious attitude, The Exploited captured the minds of frustrated British youths and spat in the face of journalists who had dismissed punk as a flash in the pan. Another outstanding album followed the next year in the form of "Troops Of Tomorrow," which featured the song, "UK82." The song was featured in the Tim Roth movie "Made In Britain," as well as being so important, that the British hardcore punk scene of the time, featuring such other bands as Discharge and G.B.H. was named after it.

After two more albums, "Let's Start A War (Said Maggie One Day)" and "Horror Epics," the band changed musical styles somewhat with their fifth album, "Death Before Dishonour," which featured a sound much more in the vein of crossover thrash. The album cover itself seemed to capture the band's crossover appeal brilliantly, as it featured British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher holding hands with the Grim Reaper, blending the 80s heavy metal imagery with their continued punk beliefs. Ever since then, the group has carried on this musical style, reaching the ears of both punks and metal fans with their aggressive message of anarchy and anti-authoritarianism that's as true today as it was thirty years ago.
