Cvltvs Mortem Issues Band Update
Cvltvs Mortem, formerly known as Sonic Devastation, has issued the following update about the band's status:
"Life can throw curve balls at you, I'm very well acquainted with them as I write this note. My life has changed a great deal since my wife passed away in February of 2010 and others' lives in this band are different than a few years ago as well. We dove hard into several shows in the last few months and have had fun doing them, but I personally realize the impact of the performances on my own priorities as of lately. A single show can be a back-breaking and financial stress to make happen, ask any promoter or independent band out there. I am now a single father to further complicate my ability to make time away for performances.
"The bottom line is that as of this time Cvltvs Mortem is still a band and together, but with a different agenda. We still have a show on our itinerary alongside Arsenic Addiction in Salt Lake City on August 27th which we still intend to perform. However, consider it a 'farewell performance' for the time being. We collectively enjoy the creation and recording of our brand of blackened death metal and plans are to continue to do so. Shows have been increasingly straining on personal schedules and financial abilities, so we shall bow out of that routine and get back to what's more pleasing to us and accommodating to our personal lives/schedules. On the other hand, there may be special occasions that we re-emerge for once in a great while.
"Continue to expect great things from this band, we're not throwing in the towel....just taking a different path with the metal that courses through our veins. I personally thank everyone that has enjoyed our endeavor over the years, it's been a pleasure and an honor to have you all enjoy this madness with us!"

Pit Stories: Right in the Kisser
We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week Rod Usher of German metallic horrorpunk band The Other shares a story of a fan that was a little too out of control and gets what he deserves:
Some years ago we played a festival in the Netherlands. We played the second stage as the last band of the night and a lot of people in attendance had already spent the whole day drinking and doing all kinds of substances, since Holland is a very liberal country. One guy in the audience was clearly under the influence of something else besides alcohol and grass, because he was very aggressive, hitting people while slamdancing and generally causing trouble. Of course I told him to calm down, but that only seemed to make things worse. At one point that guy jumped on stage and dragged me down into the audience. While I’m happy to have stagedivers come up and jump in to the crowd, I don’t want to be attacked by some weirdo. Especially since I had no idea what he was on and what his intentions were. So instead of waiting for what was going to happen, I hit the guy right in the face. He lost parts of his front teeth, his buddies didn’t really appreciate my hitting their friend, but the rest of the audience cheered, cause he was a nuisance. We continued the show while the guy and his friends were escorted from the festival-grounds by the security. I’m not proud I hit a guy and I surely didn’t mean to hurt him like that and I actually sent an email to the festival organization and apologized for the whole mess, but in the end I believe that it was the only thing that I could have done… If you go to a show, party, drink, and let loose. But if you become aggressive, it might come right back to you!
The Other is preparing to release their latest album, "New Blood," on August 31st. Rod Usher commented: "We are very proud, that our new album is being released in North America on SPV / E1 Entertainment. Our previous records were only available as imports and now finally all of the US- and Canadian Fiends have a chance to get 'New Blood' without any problems."
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories!

Happy Days To Release New Album
Guitarist Morbid of Florida black metal act Happy Days has issued the following update about the band working on a new album and streaming a re-recording song online:
"Well there are some good new and bad news that's going to be said here. The bad news is that the split will not be happening due to no response from them. I'm pretty sure they are extremely busy working on their album so its understandable. The good news is that the songs that were going to be on the split will be on the upcoming 4th full length. The name of the 4th full length is going to be called 'Cause Of Death:Life.' We'll post the cover art once its complete. It's going to be two CDs long and about 40-70 minutes of material. Its going to be co-op released through Self Mutilation Services and Funeral Industries. More updates on the release date when I get it later.
"Also I have re-recorded the song 'Alone And Cold.' For those who weren't with me from the beginning that song was from the second demo that was released in small doses. I felt that it was a good song that needed to be re-recorded and also a very personal one. Check it out here as soon as you can. Comments are always welcomed whether good or bad I can care less. In the end I'm making this music for myself. Whether you guys understand it or not, it makes no difference to me. Thanks a lot for the support it really means a lot to me and Karmaggedon."

Infernaeon Reveals New Album Details
Florida blackened death metal act Infernaeon have released details regarding their upcoming studio album. The album, titled "Genesis To Nemesis," was recorded in Erik Rutan’s famed Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and was produced by Brian Elliott.
INFERNAEON's founder and vocalist, Brian Werner commented: "Every bad thing possible was thrown at us and we had to eat some serious shit on a silver spoon and smile about it afterward to get this done. We actually wrote almost an entire other album that we threw out and started from scratch after we trimmed the fat over a year ago, but it couldn't be a better situation now. Steven and Taylor did a fucking amazing job creating a sonic 'image' which complimented the entire album concept perfectly. The album itself is the entire story of the bible from beginning to end, however, it's told historically accurately instead of the brain dead point of view the bible tries to portray. All in all, recording at Mana was an amazing experience as always; Brian and Erik are killer motherfuckers and always are intense to work with and always put forth 100% every time. Mix all the elements together with some Crowley-esque Thelema thrown in and I'm very proud to say that it turned out better then we could have expected!"
INFERNAEON will be hitting the road this fall for an extensive US tour, and have previously shared the stage with the likes of Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Atheist, Deeds of Flesh, Vile, and Impaled.
"Genesis To Nemesis" has been set for release on August 31st, 2010 through Prosthetic Records.

Place Of Skulls Comments On New Album
Knoxville, Tennessee based religious doom metallers Place of Skulls have announced the upcoming release of their fourth full-length album, entitled "As A Dog Returns." The follow-up to 2006's "The Black Is Never Far" was recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville by Travis Wyrick and founding guitarist/vocalist Victor Griffin with drums recorded and engineered by Mike Dearing. A brief video clip of the band in the studio can be found after the jump.
Said Griffin of the band's latest output: "The new album As A Dog Returns picks up dynamically where The Black Is Never Far left off. Where The Black... album had a bit more of a depressive theme lyrically, the new album tends to look to a brighter outcome. Musically we've gone further than ever before with dynamics and production. Though all the Place of Skulls brand of heaviness you would expect is certainly there, there's a nice ebb and flow with quieter parts which tend to set a very dramatic and melancholy mood at times to the overall album.
"With every album we've done," he continues, "our growth and progression has been evident, and this new release is no different. I'm really enjoying the growth of my songwriting as time goes by. I don't feel as if I have anything to prove so I think the writing gets more open, honest, and genuine with every release. We're very excited to finally get a new album out and hit the road again! Look for As A Dog Returns to be available in late September!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. Timeless Hearts
2. Breath Of Life
3. Though He Slay Me
4. Psalm
5. Dayspring
6. The Maker
7. He's God
8. Desperation
